Hello all, this is my first post on the threads. I'm looking to get a pilot slot. I'd take c-17 or c-130, but I'd love to get into a fighter (f-15/f-16) slot. Here are my credentials:

    Age: 27

Degree: BS in Mechanical Engineering (3.2 GPA) from URI

    AFOQT: 99/99/99/98/95

    PCSM: 94

Flying time: PPL with 80 hrs

Currently an E6 in the RIANG with 10 years in

Letters: Strong letter from sqd cdr (O5), strong letter from sxn lead (E8), good letter from sup (E8)

I'd say I have good interview skills. I've never had a job interview from which I didn't get an offer. However, I've heard the interviews have more casual questions (tell me a joke, what's your craziest story, etc...) but I think I can handle that. I'd like to know how much trouble I'll be faced with for my B/B+ GPA from a state school.

    Thanks in advance.

The school doesn’t necessarily matter. I did my degree online and will be going fighters. You have good stats and I would apply to everywhere.

I solo'd a 65 hp 1940 Piper Cub the weekend before last.  Finally... flying a Cub.  And it is spectacular.  Restoration was done 20 years ago... and when my friend bought it, only 180 hours had been put on it since the restoration.

Planning to fly it a fair amount.

Jealous... I’ve flown the super cub And hands down the best flying I’ve done. There’s something about doing touch and go’s at a grass field, with the windows open, and the sun setting.

For those guys that have gone through the Unsponsored route have you seen any guys end up not getting sponsored right before track night? I'm worried that I would get stuck flying drones if I didn't get picked up.

It’s written out in the AFRC pilot board process that unsponsored pilots will be placed with a unit within 45 days of assignment night which could be a drone unit, so you do everything in your power to find a sponsoring unit.

Im applying to the upcoming active duty pilot board and I’m interested in going to ENJJPT because of the fighter/bomber track. Will I know I was given an ENJJPT slot if I’m approved to attend UPT before I sign? I.e. before I go to OTS.

And as a civilian who has very competitive PCSM, GPA, and pilot license how likely am I to be offered an ENJJPT slot?

No. You have to apply for ENJJPT while at OTS, you have to ask your instructor for the packet information, and there’s a board held for those that get selected for an interview. For my OTS class, they interviewed 3 people for one slot. My buddy was picked up with 90s across the board for AFOQT, 50 or so for PCSM with no flight time, PT score of 100, and a 3.7ish GPA.

First time on this site. Thanks for reading.

I’m currently rushing fighter squadrons all around. I have competitive scores and resumes but I’m considering going Unsponsored or even active duty.

Obviously, my biggest fear with going unsponsored is not getting fighters/bombers. Why is it hard to get into these squadrons/spots? I would think it would be easier if the squadron doesn’t have to use their upt pipeline spot on you...since the reserve is already paying for it.

Question 1: If unsponsored, are you competing against sponsored board applicants for a position in the squadron?

Question 2: Is it possible to apply for ENJJPT spot going unsponsored?

Question 2a: if you get the ENJJPT sport and fly the 38 for training, how possible would it be to transfer to other squadrons if all is required is completing IFF and B course?

Thanks everyone, really happy I found this site can’t wait to catch up on all the discussions.

I’m unsponsored and currently in the pipeline. You automatically track T-1s and to guarantee a T-38 slot or ENJJPT you must have a sponsoring unit that requires you to train in the T-38. The issue that you’ll run into is that AFRC gets a few T-38 training slots per year and they’re normally all taken by sponsored trainees.

    1) you don’t compete with sponsored applicants as they already have a unit

    2) As unsponsored, ENJJPT is based on timing of slots and availability.

2a) that would be based on the unit airframe you get sponsored by

  6. At OTS right now and looking for a mess dress that some one is looking to sell. I’m trying to rent one at Shinbaums right outside the base, but they may run out and I’m not in a position to shell out hundreds for a new one. I’m 5’9” and weight 175lbs, waist 32”, and a 15-15.5” neck. Thanks.

Syllables are running together because he’s talking fast, “like an” sounds like “fuckin”. When I hear it one way, it’s hard to switch to the other way, like an audio version of this Vasarely cube.

Congrats to anyone selected on the Nov 6-7 reserve board! I found out on Nov 28. Anyone know how long it usually takes between reserve board selection to finding out dates for OTS? My unit says I have to discuss these details with the recruiter who will arrange with the 340th FTS. He was a bit slow on the process up to now and I want to make sure he isn't neglecting something that needs to be done. Thanks

    You unsponsored?

    Hopefulflyer389,

AFPC referenced Chap 6 to me...specifically ARC to AD transitions.  Said that program is not currently active, but they are in talks to possibly activate it

I’m glad it was relevant somehow. Who ever is keeping said program deactivated is an idiot and needs to get it going for those, like yourself, who are wanting to make the switch. Best of luck!
