  1. Curious as to why you're not a fan of their visor covers...in the process of designing/ordering some for my squadron and was looking at them as an option...
  2. Tucson requires you to be a military member (or at least they did when I was applying ~3 years ago) but that is literally the only thing even close to a requirement to be a member of the unit that I've seen from any fighter unit.
  3. Bump. Interested in this answer as well if anyone has any insight.
  4. END 18-10 Track: 7x T-38 (1 Guard) 16x T-1 (4 Guard/Reserve) 3x TH-1
  5. I can't give you too much insight on the eye issue specifically, but I sat in almost your exact shoes 3 years ago (minus any of the eye stuff) and got picked up off the street by a Guard unit. Feel free to PM me with any questions about the application/hiring process. Gig 'Em
  6. Was in a very similar boat last year. Off the street Guard hire and my local MEPS wouldn't see me without paperwork for a surgery I never had... Finally got routed up from my recruiter to my squadron commander who worked with NGB to get me a waiver to bypass MEPS and go straight to Wright Pat after several months of MEPS dropping the ball. Agree with Viper154's suggestion. Get a hold of someone in the command chain at the squadron who sponsored you and bring them up to speed on the situation.
  7. Guard here as well. I got my TFIT/TFOT dates and my UPT dates in one drop. My unit is unique in that there's a board at the state level that has to approve packets before forwarding to NGB, but it went fairly quickly once that was done. I think it was about a 3 week turnaround to get all of my dates once NGB had my packet.
  8. I have a month or so break and then I head to Vance in May. You?
  9. Either 10 March or 24 March, depending on which January class you're in. (I'm in the latter).
  10. Curious as well, out of town for a few weeks, so can't check my snail mail for a while.
  11. If she's hot, I don't see how it could hurt your chances. Only half kidding, but I have no serious gouge to add to this topic.
  12. Take it for what it's worth, because I'm still trying to break through and get picked up somewhere too. But every package I've submitted thus far has included a cover letter/letter of introduction, even if the req's did not specifically call it out. Just a basic overview of who you are and why you want to do this, your background, where you're at in life re: education/civilian or military employment/any flight experience, etc. You just want the person/people going through your package to get an idea of who you are and what you're about beyond a couple of test scores, transcripts, etc. That's how I look at it anyway. Honestly I'm not sure if it's better to acknowledge weak points and address them, or just hit the high points and emphasize them...I guess it's a fine line and probably just depends on who's reading it. Someone who's actually sat on the other side of the table could probably speak to this better.
  13. Anyone have any recent gouge/perspectives on this?... I found out yesterday I got an alternate slot on my most recent board. Been at this process about 6 months now, and it was my 3rd interview. Just trying to get a feel for how likely it may be for me to end up becoming a primary through this slot, or how soon after those of you who were selected as alternates got picked up as a primary somewhere. Also, I know one of the main reasons alternates end up in UPT is because primaries wash out for medical reasons, but how often is the unit able to get an extra slot and send their alternate in addition to the primary? Does that ever happen or is it unheard of?
  14. No go for me as well. I'd be interested to know what the averages were for those selected, just to know what we were up against. Congrats and best of luck to all those who made the cut.
  15. I didn't think the 122nd was going to finalize interview selections until mid August time frame...Are you saying you got an interview notice, or just that they asked for more paperwork? Based on the initial e-mail we got after package submission, I wouldn't necessarily think anyone's completely out of the running if they haven't been contacted yet. Or that them asking for more paperwork guarantees someone an interview slot, though it would appear to be a good sign. Unless you were told something different in the e-mail/phone call from them or I'm interpreting that e-mail wrong.
