Cool cartoon and all, but US domestic oil production during Biden's time in office has been very high! The highest, in fact! More is great and let's do it specifically to screw over Putin but...it's hard to complain when he's #1. Domestic Oil King Biden 2024, basically.

Sucks when the actual data doesn't fit your preconceived notions though...if anything you can blame Dubya, the rich cowboy rancher from Big Oil Texas for severely underproducting during his 8 years in office 😁

Ya know it's almost as if it's not as simple as 1) President says thing, 2) massive industry bends to his will. The US in fact does not have a state-owned oil production monopoly, but I'm all ears if you'd like to propose that in order to give the executive branch more direct control of production at any given time.

It's almost as if oil is a global commodity controlled mostly by a merry band of dictators and foreign country politics + global market prices drive the vast majority of production decisions that affect prices...weird.

Source: yes it's paywalled but I pay and it's well worth the subscription

p.s. - can we try to keep at least 1 thread about actual policy free of meme-driven pure political sh*t-talking? I vote yes, who's with me? Mutual disarmament to actually discuss energy policy...we already made it to page 2 and have stayed on the rails so far...you in @Sim?

For those who want a bit more depth here is a crowd sourced real time order of battle map.  Incidents are crosslinked with video and social media reports:

    https://liveuamap.com/

Another interesting but far less organized source is Snap Map I don't use Snap Chat but this site allows you to click on a particular area and individual snaps the residents are postings.  Snapchat is obviously more focused on the younger crowd. I poked around yesterday and there were numerous posts from teenagers who fully grasp what is happening.

Also check out ELINT news feed on Twitter. Don’t need to sign up for Twitter as well

Per multiple news sources, https://www.covidtests.gov/ is now live, allowing Americans to order up to four at-home Covid tests per household.

President Biden has ordered 500 million tests, with a follow-on order for another 500 million.

So, it sounds like the intent is to more or less flood the country with at-home tests.  Couple thoughts:

    - All of the testing will drive the case counts into the stratosphere.

    - With all of the tests out there, will mandates start to include proof of a negative test in order to work/dine out/etc?

Ha!  Just ordered mine about 2 hrs ago.  USPS emailed and will send tracking no end Jan for an "expected" ship time.  Can't wait to see how this shit show plays out.

I remember signing a petition on some GeoCities website (remember that) around the turn of the century.

The fact that reservists maintain the exact same quals but only got paid 1/30th of the flight pay per AFTP always irked me. I hope it goes through but much like expanded Space A benefits for reservists (which made it into the NDAA but never got implemented) I’m not holding my breath.

What were the expanded Space A benefits specifically?  This always pissed me off as well.  Can't take dependents Space A even in CONUS.  You have to wait till you're "activated"

You'll get a leg up on hiring within your squadron, as long as you do a good job, and you'll graduate with little to no debt.  Hands down, the best thing I've ever done.

I cannot stress this enough, especially the last part.  I've seen a fair amount of individuals enlist and after a few years believe that they're a shoe-in for a slot even with lackluster performance and attitude.  Work hard, have fun, but always remember you are being continuously evaluated.  And remember Guard/Reserve units talk, so your history/performance will transfer down the line.

That being said, most individuals enlist, interview, and obtain a slot seamlessly with minimal issues.  Good luck!

    Because its a readiness issue.

Death isn't the only downside to Covid. Having unvaccinated folks quarantine for weeks at a time whenever they come into contact with someone who tests positive for Covid makes it tough to get anything done.

Why would only unvaccinated folks quarantine for weeks at a time.....wouldn't vaxed individuals need to as well?

While I generally agree with this advice, trust me when I say there are plenty of less than ethical (but contractually legal) schemes that non-military pilots pull to enhance their schedule and/or make TONS of cash to not work and they do it without batting an eyelash so don't feel guilty for dropping a day of ML here and there.  Just don't abuse it (like dropping it the days before and after Thanksgiving or Christmas day, because they will call your BS).

I have dropped ML before Thanksgiving in the past (and not batted an eyelash).  Why?  Because I was flying a day or night sortie for proficiency.  Nothing "unethical" about that.

During my entire airline career I always bid Sept off and was easy to get no matter my seniority.   I had no squids to consider.  Best time to travel, no crowds, and cooler in Europe.

Ditto on bidding off Sept.  Flight loads are less, kids are back in school, no crowds, cooler, parks/campgrounds are dead.

Side note: is that pic Grindelwald area?

    Died uniform question.

What are the approved covers with the desert flight suit and with OCPs?

I’ve had a desert floppy hat my whole career, worn it on every deployment since 1997. Has that gone the way of the dinosaur?

Summer of '19 deployment i wore the bag w/ floppy.  No issues
