  1. It's the Walmartizination of airline travel. Cut product and personnel trying to maximize profit and leaving no margin for error. Cancel one flight when running 90% load factors and folks are going to be stuck for a while. Cancel a bunch of flights and fit hits the Shan.

  2. But if the murder bent pilot had run a couple trees through the chipper after committing the crime, the rental store employees would not have remembered him triggering the search for the credit card plus he would have had plausible rationale for renting the chipper in the first place thus working more favorably in his legal defense versus "No your honor, nobody has ever returned a clean chipper shredder".

There was also an airline pilot who chainsawed his wife up and put her through a wood-chipper.

My understanding was this guy got caught because he cleaned the wood chipper. The machine was so clean the people at the rental store remembered him and when he rented it.

  4. I've known some military guys to do some really crazy stuff and end up incarcerated so I wouldn't single out airline pilots for bizarre behavior.  That being said, I flew with our VP of Flight and asked him what was the strangest thing he had to deal with as a Chief Pilot.  He said he got a call from a County Sheriff in Tennessee  that had arrested one of our pilots because he was running up and down the street barking at cars....while naked.  The pilot got help and returned to flying.  I flew with a former Domicile President and asked the same question.  He told me he got a call because one of our pilots had trashed his hotel room on a layover and was found passed out drunk in the room....with a goat.  Not sure of what became of the pilot or the goat.

OMG!!! I'm a victim of grooming!  I feel so used. Lured me in and convinced me to throw high explosives all over the planet while drinking heavily and singing rude songs with my fellow Hawg drivers. I'm going to need a whole lot of counseling by a hot blonde, an emotional support puppy, and a case of good Irish whisky to fix this.

  6. But the spoke-persons for the democrat party, i.e. the media, will never call Brandon on his outright lies. Trump's bullshit statements were breathlessly reported and repeated 24/7 along with comments regarding suitability for the office. But Mr. Top in his law class, 3 degrees, plagerized speeches, stormed the beaches of Normandy, and inventor of the semi-colon gets a free pass.

  7. I wonder if this is a similar scheme to Hunter Bidens paintings. Just giving money to someone for no apparent reason looks nefarious but buying something from that person, no matter how ridiculous, is completely legal. The card thing might be a way around campaign finance laws.

  8. Ineffective masks poorly fiitted and gloves worn continuously throughout the day will stop the virus!  What's next? Sacrificing virgins in volcanoes to stop earthquakes? Maybe chopping heads off to honor the gods to make the rain fall. A stupid person is scary, am ignorant mob is dangerous.

In UPT, I Launched out in a T-38 as #4 in a 20 second trail departure in crappy weather to about FL200. Broke out on top, picked up a visual on #3, plugged in the blowers and started climbing to catch him. After some time climbing and approaching the top of block, my feeble brain comes to the conclusion something ain't right about the time I vis ID "#3" as an Evergreen International 727. Oops. Rolling the jet on its back, I see the other 3 jets about 4000 feet below me and I'm hoping they didn't notice as I rejoin. All my IP said was "Nice recovery."

The T-38 is a great CTP aircraft for the U-2. Although costs are going up as it gets old, it's been a bargain.

In 2006, an F-22 at Langley sucked a nose gear pin down the intake. The engine damage was $6.7M. To put that in perspective, Beale's entire ~3800 hour T-38 flying allocation that year cost less than that single incident.

Speaking of the F-22, it was their effort to get a 2nd radio in the T-38A fleet.  Thanks!
But what were y'all thinking in making the 2nd radio another UHF radio?!  Honestly, was someone brain dead when they made this decision?  (I guess this last paragraph could qualify this post for the "WTF?" thread.)

I believe the T-38A is the last UHF-only aircraft in DoD.

We were putting F-22s into Holloman and had some concerns about the taxiway surfaces and it was cheaper to repave most of the taxiways than repair or replace an engine.... And then we moved the F-22s out a couple years later.

  11. Yeah, I want some dude "who just snapped" and attempted to kill someone in what can be a high stress occupation complete with the occasional personality conflict in a tight enclosed area. What could possibly go wrong?

I love the number of PA announcements my brown boxes require.

We were doing a lot of cargo only flights during the COVID debacle and the topic of cargo vs pax came up often. The general consensus was it doesn't suck. No pax and no flight attendants made for very peaceful and quiet flights.

    PF into LGA yesterday

Figure I checked the NOT decidedly boring square for the next year at least.

Years ago flying the Stupid-80 into LGA and I was following some corporate type on the Expressway arrival. Tower asks, "American 69, you have a corporate doofus way long turning final so don't turn final until you seem him." We pick him up and turn final with LGA standard min spacing. On short final we hear "CORPORATE DOOFUS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING??..... YOU CAN'T STOP ON THE RUNWAY!!!"...."American 69, go around"  CA immediately goes heads down MAKING A PA while I employ single man rules for the go around. About the time I'm abeam the runway after flying the Expressway arrival again, the CA rejoins the conversation in the cockpit and asks, "Where are we?" I do not miss domestic flying.

  14. Did active duty then retired out of the reserves a long time ago and never missed it. I'm still in contact with the guys I shared some great flying and experiences with and It's fun swapping lies..I mean stories, with other airline pilots on long international flights about the interesting things we got to do. But definitely don't miss it.

  15. For those that don't know, Glock has Blue Label deals for active and retired military. Ask your local Glock dealer or go on the Glock website to locate them. The deals are very, very good.

I carry the Glock 43 and looking to switch to the 43x to get the additional rounds.
