  1. same for me, i was just hoping big blue noticed the failure of a few of them. As for AFPC cleaning up their own mess; I can't imagine they have the capability to not suck and merely chose this horrible path.
  2. A lot of people have been fired lately, but rarely for poor performance. The missile types were only fired after all the bad publicity and it was coincidence that stuff even came to light. I've never seen a commander or anyone of importance fired for sucking at their job; sometimes they just don't get promoted.
  3. You are right. It was a figure of speech. But it wasn't difficult to see that there were horrible pilots and great pilots to be even in the early stages of UPT.
  4. I loved hooking kids in UPT and I gave a 0 E once. I'm sure there are some Santa Claus' out there that can top that.
  5. I remember talking to a cross-flow type a few years ago that did quite well after going to the viper. He said it would never happen again as many other communities gutted their best to fill fighter slots. Much like chopping 25,000 people in a year, you can't fix a decade+ worth of mismanagement with the flick of a pen. How big blue shapes its manning over the next 5 years will truly tell us whether or not our leaders are earning their pay.

  7. there is a difference between blowing up when people screw up and blowing up on an hourly/daily basis. I agree, if you fall into the later category then you aren't in charge.
  8. I don't think you understand that the people developing these matrices lead as Lieutenants. We only fly. They got masters degrees when they were in tech school. We let upgrades and the ATO get in our way of doing that. They have my full trust to figure this out in an ACSC paper in a decade or so.
  9. First: Awesome! Second: This gets us closer to what we used to have. We didn't just win the lottery. Imagine if your wife who used to be faithful, cheated on you for a few years, then decided she was going to be faithful again. Do you have an amazing marriage now? Third: This won't stop REMFing from those that can't do their job. There are a lot of bad regs out there for them to enforce or conspicuously comply with. Fourth: Regarding Liquid's post about wing commanders; wing commanders should lead. If the mission of your wing is to kill people then it might be okay to have patches celebrating that. If they don't know how to lead then maybe they shouldn't be wing commanders.
  10. Many of my classmates got full reimbursement. We have that too, it is the GI Bill. But yeah, our TA is a pain in the ass. When I got my MBA, my school repeatedly deferred due dates because the AF wouldn't pay its relatively small share. That is what I get for trying to go beyond simply checking the box.
  11. No details on a plan that will change OPRs/EPRs and roll out over the holidays in two weeks. I'm guessing it will be flawless and value-added.
  12. Our briefing said only those that are RIF eligible would be VSP eligible. They also anticipate a few people would get denied VSP but then RIF's. They hoped those types would get VSP benefits from the RIF board. At least that was what I got out of our official rumor brief. I don't have the time or care to read through their legalese.
