  1. Word dude. Definitely don't stay on base. Most folks going through PIT get some arrangement off base anyway. I think there's some good gouge on PIT pads on here in some thread somewhere. Basically they'll charge you the on-base rate and most take the GTC too, all owned by folks out in the bro network and they're in the business of making things as easy as possible. Furnished apartment is an option too, plenty in San Antonio that are solidly priced. Side note on those: I remember some issues dudes had if they put their spouse's name on the lease with theirs. Some combination of Texas law merged with finance/JTR rules, and boom all of a sudden finance would not reimburse lodging expenses.   2. Call back later, don't mention "pet." Profit? Are you concerned about getting a good place to stay or more just curious if you can snag a non-a letter for the TDY? If the concern is no-kidding obtaining acceptable living conditions, there are way better ways to do PIT than living on RND. PIT pads (I think some are pet friendly too), furnished apartments, you name it. But, hopefully that's not new information. Good luck to ya, them folks at RND seem to be sticklers on the non-a thing.   3. Back in the day in ROTC I think there was some sort of "desire joint spouse" option you could mark when you put in for your UPT bases. No guarantees on the timeline, but for us we got pilot slots February junior year, put in for bases in the fall, and got our base December senior year.   6. APACS request/Country/Theater Clearance may not be required since your trip part of a cruise. Foreign Clearance Guide specifies for sure. Didn't need it for a Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Mexico cruise back in July. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  7. Yep, here ya go. From the "how to run pilot training" reg AETCI 36-2605v4 6.14. Civilian Flight Training. To maintain the integrity of the AETC training system, students rated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) (private pilot, commercial pilot, etc.) may fly civilian aircraft once they enter into UPT, but they may not pursue additional ratings or qualifications.   8. Some extra info for clarification Ragged: Big picture: if formal training is 20 weeks or more in duration, it resets your OPR date. If shorter than 20 weeks, OPR date does not change. So, you receive a training report (475) at the end of UPT which then marks the start of your evaluation period for an OPR. If your follow-on FTU is less than 20 weeks long, you still get a training report when you finish FTU but it does not reset your OPR date, and your OPR will close out a year after you received your UPT training report. Be prepared for the potential that you may have an OPR due a year after you graduated from UPT. Ensure you have a passing score on the books before then.
