  1. The secret is to have a "good" address...eg, if you use a parents address on your DL, and register your car there, vote from there, etc...then when they run the plates...you are from there. Even if your local address comes up, that is just in the Mil members name, the spouse can simply say they are visiting... THis rule is a long time coming, it has always been dumb, I think that's why there are so many ways around it.
  2. Agree in general with the new guy thing, but there are lots of folks in this squadron that have extensive experience in all kinda aspects that would be perfect, the F-15E WIC guy we just got, I am pretty sure his experience in the jet and now UAV would bring nothing but positive influence to the future with regards to an airframe with so many different options, the same could be said for our A-10, AC-130, F-16 etc...we have folks from all over. Eventually they will get another assignment (look ma, positive outlook!) That's all that matters. In order to fall on deaf ears, it has to be made. But you are totally right.
  3. Go big or go home. Been my motto for a long time. Never once did I even come close to claiming expertise...just a hope that folks are helping the 73rd out where they can, and for some kinda positive spin on the challenges ahead for them. Man, that counts for everything! Concur, that is gonna be a bear to work out.
  4. ZING! Right in the ol' Ground Control Station. When did this become a UAV issue? It must hurt where you pee. And that is not even funny, your mom is no joke! You are judging something that has never been tried...kinda the definition of speculative and "pre". Maybe you will be right. Who knows. I just hope you are not.
  5. True that, no question. It is a complex thing to be sure. I guess my beef is that most of the speculative harsh pre-judgment of failure is also not so clear cut. Couldn't agree more with ya though.
  6. There is no such thing as a sage Eagle driver, just someone that almost got C models and says "that's OK".
  7. So two years from now when the 73d is being successful at both and have not lost any planes to just simple "new guy" or "inexperienced" issues, what are the guys in squadrons that can only manage to accomplish one mission going do? Are they going to need therapy for their sudden lack of ability to brag about how specific and awesome they are and how no one else could ever do it? I think that bet needs to be spelled out...and soon, so that once the report cards come out we can hold some folks accountable to buying LOTS of beer/booze for someone else. x2
  8. Well, there we agree. All of the RAMs (or whatever they are calling them these days) that get put out there and are prosecuted by SF are directly driven by the WG/CC, it HAS to be that way, or it is illegal. You can't target a specific place/squadron/etc...well, you can, but there needs to be pre-existing probable cause. Similar for the RAMS, if a cop just decides that he needs to check your car because your wife is wearing a short skirt and he wants a better look, and your bag of crack is tucked into the dead hooker's shirt pocket in your trunk...that will all get thrown out due to the fact it was found during an unlawful search with no probable cause. The "randomness" of a check as directed by the WG/CC takes away that probable cause requirement. Now that I think about it, the annoying part of the whole process comes from JAG.
  9. X2 I would add don't do a "Holiday" party. Do a freaking Christmas party.
  10. It may happen, the things you are saying are classic drunk driver indications...they will pull you over with more than enough probable cause, and then relase you when you are found not drunk. Unless of course, if you are drunk. Then you are screwed.
  11. OK, a statistician having ANY callsign is gay, but luckily, I was able to identify that by pointing at this thread with my elbow and rubbing out (STS!) the idea from my cranium. Phew. Much more hetero suddenly. Wait.....shit. I think it's great the dude found something he's good at. He's gonna be throwing very fit and flexible chicks around in practice and getting laid from women most you will only spank your pud to by looking at the avatars on this thread. Chicks dig champions, no matter the activity. I think there is some serious envy of success in this thread. Different does not equal gay, sucking cock or banging a dude in the ass equals gay. As long as he puts his junk in a woman where it belongs, he is fine in my book.
  12. Just did some quick math, and using all uber-conservative "worst-case" scenarios and the minimum difference (as described above) the estimated differences are: $10,620 over 4 years $33,108 over 10 years Call it chump change is you wish, but I think that is worth it. Either way, I know amounts of money are subjective, but I still think that even at the minimum differences, it is a valid thing to consider. And if you commission like I did at 8 years or so, the difference is WAY more. Just a thought. It's all technique.
  13. Yep, multi-service and Helos. all welcome. Just contact them, they have slots.
  14. I just finished #13 in 16 yrs, I hear ya brother! I'm almost just numb to it now.
  15. Just some things to ponder from an old mustang... DO NOT do any type of program that you get "selected" for from your enlistment if it means you do not serve a full 4 years and 1 day as an enlisted guy. No amount of money they may pay you in the two years of college will make up for the 10 years of O-1, 2 &3E pay difference. Do the following: -Pick the school/AFROTC Det you want to attend. -Pick your degree --Get with admissions...find out haw many transfer credits they will take, and how many CLEP/DANTES they will take, then MAX them out. -Have fun your remaining time in the service, drink, have sex, party, read, whatever floats your boat. -Find out state laws on un-employment...most likely, you will qualify for it because you let your enlistment run out, also very likely is that they consider ROTC a "training program", and you will qualify for unemployment the entire two years you are "progressing" through it. Don't let people say you are abusing the system, covering a gap in income so you can then make more $$ and thereby pay more taxes back into the system is exactly what it is there for. - Query the AFROTC Det on probability of a 2-yr scholarship...as a prior e, should be no problem. - Get out...Enroll in the college/ROTC, get the scholarship, go get unemployment, take your GI bill --You will be making well over $2k a month for going to school full time. If you live at home/with friends, you can make that WAY far, I managed to support my wife and I on it...we just ate ramen a bunch and drank box wine. IM me is you have questions or want help drawing out a plan if these suggestions make sense to you. It's all technique though, whatever you choose, good luck!
  16. Your Jr Enlisted are being failed by everyone they know for not helping them. Our sq has/had the same types of issues...and they are ALL now living off base in rentals...you can go drive around to any of the dozen places for sale on Fairway...get 4 airmen in a 4 br...the sellers will most likely rent instead of leaving it on the market...that is the same all over town. There are a couple of apt places still with vacancies, and Portales is a 5 min driving difference to base from my house (far east in Clovis) and they have a butt-load of rentals. They just gotta look!
  17. Some of us do. Like everything in the AF, it all just depends...
  18. Same thing was told to my class...one of the few key examples which now has me asking almost on a daily basis "Can you please show me that policy/reg/whatever you are referring to?" My experience thus far has been that it's about a 50/50 split on people just BSing and actual regs.
  19. Or make is more "A Few Good Men"-like as referenced above "Could you please call me Senator, I believe I've earned it." "Alright, senator...and please call me General, I know I've earned it"
  20. Really? I have been here almost a year and never heard that...even talked to cops at night...no tickets...plus if it was a requirement, they would have to be wearing one too.
  21. But you'll love the VFW on steak night! (take the fun where you can!) The range is way far enough way...noise won't be an issue!
  22. I would venture to say most folks don't give two poos about how drunk we get on base...or if we have strippers and blow on the tables...they just want to sleep well under the umbrella of the security we provide...it's that 5% vocal minority (on both far ends of the spectrum) that will never rest until the Consolidated Club that has no alcohol at all has a Homo Lounge with fabulous decor that will be where your EO 2015 classes will be held, taught by a 4 star general African American female who only dabbles in lesbianism on some weekends. Bad ass buffet though.
  23. There my friend, we totally agree. It's not just platforms, but every AFSC out there. :)
  24. He ended up in F-15Cs...funny thing, IPs are supposed to grade you on your skills, not if you rocked the boat. Your assertion that the UPT IPs are not mature enough or don't have enough integrity to do so is kinda harsh, don't ya think? I did just fine after I slammed my breaks on in the Tweet and told my FAIP that I was going to fu*king kill him or apprehend him if he ever slapped my helmet again. Nothing but top picks from track select onward... That's cool, you don't have to buy anything. You're just wrong on this one, as long as you are cool with that, all is well.
  25. Yep. Commanders can't just limit what you do in your off duty time unless they have a valid reason. Orders still have to be lawful. In this case, they found that it is only considered "High Risk" if you are training...not if you already hold a license to do it. All I know is the JAG called our Sq CC in the 33rd and told him that they can't make the guy not fly on his off time. FWIW...this "guy" was not me...I was too drunk on the weekends to fly anything...it was tough enough just keeping my car on the road!
