  1. 1. Fix what?? We can not Never build a modern society from a clan culture in multiple generations. 2. Remove all of our forces and leave. 3. In leaving give the present that keeps on giving a nuclear half life along the AFGHAN/PAKISTAN BORDER. 4. Turn the remaining area into a vast prison for all countries to leave those deemed unfit for modern society. 5. Return in several centuries and see if anyone survived.
  2. Jordan Carver M2. I'll take a Q2 never argue with the evaluator.
  3. Sorry to see the twin power pack go but it is time.. Using the H-60 platform will enable a smaller logistical chain, help provide a break for the deployed overtasked CSAR units, and greater potential for future CCs/DOs within Global Strike units. A win overall. The EC145or EC135 are fine for EMS mission, however agree limited cargo area and tad under powered when hot and heavy. Why would the AF even consider them??
  4. A salute to our fallen Jolly Green brothers. God Bless!!
  5. This is true. It is on pages 77, 172, 218, and 434. You have to dig to see the charges. We (retirees) would lose the Medicare for life benefit and would have to pay. We would lose TRICARE as a total care package. We would not be allowed to keep TRICARE so when Obama stands and says if you like what you have you can keep it, he lies. This is a "Heads Up" on a battle we are facing now and down the road with the new Administration. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has already drafted proposed legislation that would basically reduce our TRICARE for Life benefits to a system whereby we pay deductibles and co-pays up to $6,301 the first year for you and your spouse, with future years being indexed to increase with inflation. What can we do? The article below, obtained from an Air Force Association and written by BG Bob Clements, best describes what we can do. Please read it and check the links for CBO language and do what Bob says-Send this email to every Military Retiree you know and write and email your Congressman often. For those of you that might have voted for "Change", you should do it more than often! TRICARE FOR LIFE'S FUTURE.... TRICARE For Life was instituted to correct the broken promise that military retirees would receive free healthcare coverage for life and it covers the Medicare co-pay. Now a heavy assault has begun on Veterans'/Retirees' benefits to pay for other programs our President promised during the campaign. And it is a high priority of his administration. The one item of most interest to Retired Military is in Article 189. If approved by Congress the first assault wave would hit in 11 and would hit hard. It would initiate cost sharing to require retirees to pay the first $525 of medical cost and 50% of the next $4,725 for a first year cost of $2,888 per person. It would be indexed to increase with inflation. A reason given for this action (for PR effect) is "overuse" by Retiree s. For those of you who are covered by TFL you will want to pay attention (Below) to what BG Bob Clements has surfaced about the future of TFL. In any case, on page 189 of the Congressional Budget Office report, see the note below on how to get to that spot, there is a strong recommendation to eventually eliminate the program as it is too expensive. Just another move to slight those of us who dedicated much of our adult lives to the defense of our country. Strongly recommend that you contact your elected officials and register your strong opposition to the elimination of the TFL program. Heads-up from BG Bob Clements, USAF Ret (P38 Bob) The following has been added to the Congressional Budget Office Web Site www.cbo.gov/ a. Budget, Options, Volume 1: Health Care (www.cbo.gov/doc.cfm?index=9925) For those who have never opened one of these web sites from OMB : 1. double click on the above URL 2. click on PDF 3. click on the binoculars 4. do a search for TFL Now here it is folks and I will guarantee if you sit around on your behind and do nothing about it as they bring these options forward this coming year, you will lose one of the best healthcare benefits that the Medicare eligible retired military have. It is short of the promises made that we fought so hard for back in the late 90s and early 00s but it is still the best healthcare program that anyone in the United States has, bar none. People who are professionals always look for the channel of least resistance when it comes to cutting money out of the Federal and DOD budget. I can tell you this straight on, military retirees are one of those channels of least resistance noted for sitting around, doing nothing, and waiting for ole Joe to do it for them. You had better wake up. Your medical benefits are prime target. If you lose them, you have nobody to blame but yourself. Let me repeat that ... you have nobody to blame but yourself. The way to secure your benefits is to write to your members of Congress and to keep writing and writing and writing. ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH!! Keep repeating the above statement until you are blue in the face. Now I'm going to make one more statement to all of you younger people out there who are not yet eligible for TRICARE for Life. HEALTH CARE WILL EVENTUALLY BECOME THE DOMINATING FACTOR IN YOUR LIFE. Remember that . . . . it will impact you big time with the utmost in cruelty unless you are fortunate enough to die from a heart attack or get run over by a truck. The service organizations will put up a fight, but, they will need your help and can't do it by themselves. I hope this makes it clear as to what you can expect if you do nothing. To show you how stupid these professionals can be at times just read the data on the noted sites closely. You will see that in spite of the MTFs (Military Treatment Facility) need to get patients back to keep their doctors busy and the hospitals from going to clinic status, these people from OMB would employ a means to keep retirees from using MTF facilities by charging them a fee for services. How dumb can you get. Even if you are an Obama fan, and believe that changeth cometh, TFL option from OMB will not go away. They need the money they spend on you for other programs for people who produce nothing but votes to keep their boss in office. If you know of anyone who is Retired Military, please forward this on to them. Bob Remember- TFL is an "Earned Benefit" that's been granted by a previous Congress.
  6. Cap-10, Thanks for the info. Where can one see the new wording of part 61.73?? Eeyore
  7. As a former military IP and now as a current contract IP for the military (military trained and given AF checkrides) at Kirtland, part 61.73 paragraph(g)excludes former military IPs from gaining CFI add-on to current ticket. What gives??
  8. Yes, this was tried in late 80's and early 90's with 23rd AF at Hq Mac since there was no AFSOC Hq. The problem today is AFSPC would have to give up its UH-1Ns and AFSOC would then need to incorporate the Rescue community in the fold. Funding in AFSOC then becomes problematic. The shifting of funds and buy in from the AF leadership is needed. If AFSOC were to grow this then creates pressure on the Army SOF helo forces and their program. So once again a food fight over dollars and mission. SecDef and others are playing a balancing game of dollars and mission. Therfore: back to square one.
  9. Good article on Clubs. Yes, ever present political correctness abounds not only in military but society as a whole. Until we change the view of civilian society, whom are our bosses we will never see Clubs return.
  10. Gentleman, Time to tighten belts, once again. AF must make do with what we have for the future. I believe if AF is smart might be able to get a SLEP for the HH-60. Yes, a stop gap measure but can extend the service life and keep CSAR in the fight. I still believe we'll have UH-1Ns flying in AFSPC as we slowly put HH-60s in the boneyard because we won't be able to keep up the current pace of deployments to all those small brush fire conflicts. This is starting to look more like the olden days of yore just ten years ago.
  11. Well that was totally par for the course. I would venture a guess that if OB ticket wins it will be longer than a year. As for upgrades to Pavehawk, it will be up to those advocates working at Air Staff to sneak in and procure dollars from programs on the vine as well and more importantly guard their dollars from attack. I'd say wish in one hand and spit in the other.
  12. Yes, Rotorhead and JollyGreen are correct in their tales of yore for the H-60 as we went through numerous upgrades. Curt22 is correct reference 718 as well. It took several weeks of work to get 718 ready to fly after years sitting in WRB hangar. Now as for fireguard detail during lighting of the sun, one day somebody else will be rise to the occasion.
  13. AH!! Seagull leadership still reigns supreme.
  14. OUTSTANDING WORDS. Do at CC Call. I've added axiom I used as CC. Labor Effort Attitude Devotion Example Respect Sacrifice Honesty Integrity People
  15. Touche, HD. Now to educated others. virga—(Also called Fallstreifen, fallstreaks, precipitation trails.) Wisps or streaks of water or ice particles falling out of a cloud but evaporating before reaching the earth's surface as precipitation. Virga is frequently seen trailing from altocumulus and altostratus clouds, but also is discernible below the bases of high-level cumuliform clouds from which precipitation is falling into a dry subcloud layer. It typically exhibits a hooked form in which the streaks descend nearly vertically just under the precipitation source but appear to be almost horizontal at their lower extremities. Such curvature of virga can be produced simply by effects of strong vertical wind shear, but ordinarily it results from the fact that droplet or crystal evaporation decreases the particle terminal fall velocity near the ends of the streaks. Under some conditions, virga are associated with dry microbursts, which are formed as a product of the evaporation. See cloud classification.
  16. I was on duty at AeroCare (local helicopter EMS) that evening and thankfully not required to launch on the accident. The local weather service had not posted any low level wind shear just strong gusty winds of 20-30 with gust up to 40. We did have some unforseen local buildups with plenty of virga which were not in the forecast. Plenty of blowing dust which reduced vis to 5 miles. It is always windy in Lubbock. One ponders if a small sudden downburst from decending virga a mile or two north of the aproach end on runway 17r caused a short term low level wind shear?? Glad both pilots had only minor injuries.
  17. Well we once again reinvent the wheel!!! Will it last?? I hardly doubt it will. The metrics of promotion will rear its ugly head. Additionally, what function does the MX group really HAVE?? How is the AF going to provide opportunities for command at the O-6 level. Will the MX Grp be the metrics clearing house for sorties, ute rates, mx effectiveness, etc. OPS rejoice for now and be careful what you wish for!!
  18. Needs a cell with Bubba the Love sponge!!
