  1. TRY SAYING: How delightfully hilarious! INSTEAD OF: That was F_____ funny!
  2. You know you can get the UA in brown, right?? Seriously, you should definitely spend $100 bucks on 'em. They're a breeze to fold too; it'll make life easy. Besides, when your FTO and CTA see you wearing brown UA they're going to think, "now there is a cadet that's so cool we've got to make him a DG." [ 02. May 2005, 22:28: Message edited by: Goin2UPT ]
  3. ROTC is becoming more and more competitive as well.
  4. They are requiring TS before UPT if you're coming from ROTC. I got my slot through ROTC and less than a week after I got it I had to start the process to get TS.
  5. I love it. I hope any charges against that patriot get thrown out of court.
  6. I think I just thought of a use for the flying scarf! It seems that scarves are about the right length and width to be used for TP. Call it ATP: aviator toliet paper?
  7. ECM simply stands for electronic countermeasures. It doesn't always come in the form of a pod on a pylon. The Fox call is used when one of those particular types of missiles is fired IIRC. Isn't "Magnum" the call for an AGM-88?
  8. ICBM bases are located in northern latitudes because it's a shorter trip to Russia from there. That's a start at least. Big airlift bases are located near either coast, again to shorten the trip. I'm not saying that goes for every base, just some. Travis, McChord, Fairchild, and March (technically a reserve base) are all AMC bases on the West Coast. McGuire, Dover, Andrews, Charleston, and MacDill are all AMC on the East Coast. There are only a few AMC bases located in the interior of the U.S. [ 17. April 2005, 01:15: Message edited by: Goin2UPT ]
  9. Before posting in this thread ask yourself if you are actaully going to answer my question or offer an opinion. I only want an answer. I have no desire for this to become another sh!tstorm thread. At my ROTC det we have a silk detachment flying scarf. Cadets who have been selected for UPT/UNT are allowed to wear the scarf with their bags. All I want to know is the proper way to wear the scarf. If you know the answer please post. If you want to offer an opinion about why cadets shouldn't be allowed to wear a scarf or bag please refrain from posting. Thank you.
  10. I'm going to apply for wing king for the fall as well. My Det has an annual paintball event paid for by the esprit de corps money we get. We also have an annual base visit to a "nearby" AFB that lasts for a few days. How about a combat dining in? I don't know where you are located or how many dets are near you, but here in southern California the five detachments get together each year for a big field day. Organize one of those and it'd look pretty good. Hope that helps!
  11. Scholarships. Three different scholarships paid for all of mine. There are a lot of them out there. Just search and apply. The worst that can happen is that you aren't given any money.
  12. Thanks. Go ahead and post a sample diet. It is kind of hard being a college student that has to commute two hours a day, but I want to gain weight.
  13. Yeah, but isn't creatine going to dehydrate me unless I drink gallons of water? I've heard bad things from people who've used it. I'm like c17wannabe, tall and skinny. The only time I gained weight was at field training, when I ate 5000 calories a day and worked out constantly. I have since lost that weight and am back down to what I was before. I'm in pretty good shape too, 90s on the PFT. I've been lifting weights and I haven't noticed anything. :(
  14. I'm not touching creatine. What I'm concerned about is if being underweight will affect me at my FC1.
  15. What happens if you're "underweight" at your FC1? I was told that I was borderline for my height (between 6' and 6'1").
  16. Dude, you OM would change by about half a point. Not a big deal.
  17. Wow. I guess it can be done.
  18. I've met plenty of cadets outside of my det. There's NATCON, FT, the 5 dets in my area get together for a field day every year, etc. By bad juju I mean that being on a sports team is a lot of work and so is ROTC. I know guys who play on the varsity teams at my university and those guys are pretty damn tied up. None of them are in ROTC, btw. I know in high school being on a varisty team took a lot of time with away games and practices.
  19. Stick to intramurals. Being on the school team is bad juju for ROTC. I've never met a cadet who was also on one of his/her school's sports team.
  20. bump once to see if anyone else has info on this.
  21. I have kind of low gum lines in my mouth. When I had braces my orthodontist said I should get gingival augmentation to build my gums up. I never got it done. My gums don't seem to be receeding beyond their current level. They are kind of freakishly low though. Should I get the augmentation just to be safe?
