  1. Can anything be said about any of the aircraft above? Deployments? Once you get in can you stay in AFSOC for the whole career? Is the flying all it is cracked up to be? Bases? I know a lot of the stuff is classified but any generalizations that can be talked about? I could only find stuff on the MC-12.
  2. No, he's right. Definitely stretch marks above the TMZ.
  3. Vance's drop was pretty damn awesome too. I can't remember all of the T-1s. Bunch of tankers and only 3 RPA's I think. And an AC-130 to Hurlburt. The 38's was something like (2) F-16's Luke F-15C Klamath Falls A-10 T-38 Faip B-52 I think thats it. Maybe a T-6 Faip.
  4. Ok thanks guys. I didn't think the dude knew what he was talking about. He said he knew for a fact though that when I put expenses down I didn't get that back at all and I told him that made no sense. So as it stands I'll be getting taxed on all 1,500 of it instead of 1,000 of it. Is there a way to recover that money or did he screw me over?
  5. Recently I had to move locally and I did a DITY move. I decided to pack up everything and unpack and hired a local company to move it all for me. It was around 3,500 lbs and should of been 1,500 bucks. It cost me 500 bucks to hire the company. Anyways I was told I had to put expenses down of the moving company and that money is basically gone. So out of the 1,500 I was automatically down to 1000 and then the govt would take 28% in taxes. So he told me to expect a check of around 700 dollars. But I asked well I just paid 500 to the moving company and that doesnt make sense because the government would be paying me 700 out of the allowed 1,500. I basically had to pay the 500 twice. After explaining this for over 15 minutes he said well I could just not claim it as an expense but they would tax the whole 1,500 at 28% which I said um ok? Its still more money that way than the way you're telling me. Has anyone had any problems with this before? So now I should be getting a check around a grand so I should pocket around 500 of it but the whole process seems jacked up.
  6. Found out guys at Laughlin heard from HQ and said theyre getting the money. I'll be having yet another conversation with the finance guys at my base.
  7. Well that sucks. Ill post what HQ says back too just for the hell of it.
  8. Exactly, and it says stays at your graduation/commissioning location. Why would they put graduation/commissioning location if they weren't referring to brand new people? Makes no sense.
  9. http://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/perdiem/jftr%28ch1-10%29.pdf Go here and go to page 721 and its like halfway down in the bold. My friends voucher or whatever is on hold while they try to figure it out. The way it reads makes up eligible you would think but when I went to finance they said they dont believe it applies because I wasnt on AD. What do you guys think? I wrote Finance at Ellsworth so well see what they say.
  10. I heard from a friend that there is a recent reg that says we get a tabled BAH rate for the 6 months between commissioning and EAD and it's in the range of 2700. He says he went into finance and should be getting the money soon. Has anyone else heard about this?
  11. I've only been on base a couple of weeks. The management might be the best but no gripes from me up to this point. Sure there are cons to it it all, but in my opinion, don't outweigh the pros. Just the convenience of the community, safety, close to base and having all utilities included outweigh having to move in a few months. As far as landscaping and electric meters, it may bug people but I'm a guy so I could really care less. To each his own.
  12. I just moved in a house a couple of weeks ago. They've treated me good. I've heard stories but had no problems. Yeah there was a 3-18 month wait to get on base but I got on after 2 weeks. Yes, the houses are older and yes I have to move in 6-9 months to a renovated house during UPT but who cares? It's close to work, living around other studs is cool and everything off base is just as shitty.
  13. What are T-39s used for? Never even heard of them. Nav training?
  14. Wow. Just wow. Please don't tell me that this is him.
  15. Hahaha. I think that is the funniest thread I've ever read on the internet with the comments and everything.
  16. I'm not sure if there's a gym or not. You won't have time to worry about going to the gym anyways. Just go out at night and enjoy San Antonio with all the other guys.
  17. I'm pretty sure the maximum is already 1 year but they try to keep it around 6 months.
  18. Ahh, this rule is now in effect at our Det. God help me.
  19. Yeah you get back by then and we went out every night. But it's only for a couple hours because you have to get up early every day. If it was a short trip for her it might be worth it but wouldn't if she had to pay a lot.
  20. It's only four days. If they did go you would get hardly any time with them anyways. And they'd have to pay their own way out there.
  21. I'm in. Clueless as well.
  22. Yeah there are scholarships but I guess he was referring to free housing also. At the Academy do you still get a stipend? I'd go the ROTC route but thats because I did it. I love it because I only have it a couple hours a week. You still get to be a normal college student and the pilot selection rate was still 60% this year so you have a pretty decent shot if you keep your grades in order.
