Personally, I'm ready for some real football! It's hard for me to get excited about soccer, but the locals here are trying their best to convince me. I got stuck in all the traffic last weekend when I was driving thru southern Germany and Austria. Lots of Russians, Swedes, and a ton of Dutch fans heading to the game. Drove thru Croatia and that place was still going crazy from their win over Germany. Just not enough contact in the game and what is up with all the fake injuries?

I flew that airplane! According to my logbook, I flew it at least twice (missing the tail #'s from the first half of Tweets), with the last flight being 10 Feb 03. Formation ride 2105!

One of the IPs mentioned was my Assistant Flight Commander 6 years ago. Didn't realize he was still in the squadron. Glad to hear everyone was OK.

Why can't he do 20 yeas as an ART, which would make him 50. Get hired by the airlines at 50, fly until he's 65? Not something I would want to do either, but it's out there. He wouldn't draw his retirement until later, but he would have a paying job to support himself. You can get pretty decent seniority in 15 years at an airline. Personally, I think he would be an idiot to not take the job if it is being offered to him. Who knows what is going to happen to the airline industry in the future.

If you are 30 yrs old, then why not take the ART job now and then when you retire, apply to the airlines. You will be young enough to do both. Especailly now that they have raised the airline retirement age to 65. This is a decision you have to make on your own. Personally, I would take the ART job. I'm AGR and it's not too bad of a gig. But, I also never really had any interest in the airlines.

Funny this topic popped-up again. I just had my "Breaking of the Wings" story and my half of the wings framed this past weekend. They had been sitting in my house since 2003 and I finally decided to get it done. Had the story surrounded by a blue matting and had the 1/2 set of wings centered as if whole set, below the story. The lady at the frameshop couldn't figure out why I did that way, then I asked her if she read the story. Her answer was "no". Told her it was to highlight that half the wings are missing. I'm single, so I didn't have your problem. I gave the half to my grandparents since they are from the WWII era. They still have them and my grandmother still wears her gold Tweet pin everyday that she bought at my track select.

Herk Driver, Thanks for the info, I will look it up tomorrow when I get to work. Luckily, there is a Herk unit in the same command that will work perfectly and I have been talking with a buddy of mine there. I need to send the proper e-mails and I have been told by the WG/CC that he will write whatever he needs to write.

I'm looking for some info along these lines. Has anyone heard of an "attachment for flying" or something similiar? It allows someone that is geographically separated to fly with another unit to maintain currencies, such as an AMLO or ALO. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

I agree with Patch. If you want to be a pilot, why wait when you have the opportunity staring you in the face. I'm not ROTC, nor do I know many guys in my squadron that were; so I'm not sure how the process works. I don't understand going non-rated first, unless something is keeping you from getting a pilot slot directly out of ROTC.

Totally agree with everyone about the DEN USO. The staff was great, furniture was very comfortable. Great place to hang out.

I heard that Dobbins will be open for another 4 yrs- this is not official word. The only way you are coming to Nashville is if you are Polish or Danish- as they are the first two or three classes scheduled. From what we are being told, Nashville will only train US personnel in a wartime surge or if you're going to Spec Ops.

Flew him around Afghanistan last year and I agree, class act! Not your typical General Officer. Looked like he felt uncomfortable with the special treatment he received.
