  1. Since we are starting to shut down Pope by '08 they are already asking who wants to stay and who wants to go. I would really like to get on C-21's, but all of this kind of throws a kink in things. Should I,in your opinion, still pursue this route or just go ahead and look elsewhere like a T-44 instructor? Thanks PS- Mark hit me back with a pic of baby Klech.
  2. Everybody has been pretty cool about it though. It just so happened that I checked in right after that GRACC mess happened, so everyone is up in arms about the uniform stuff.
  3. I got to Pope and was immediately told to zip all my zippers, main zipper up to the top of the name tag (minimum), boots shined, one tuck of the sleeves (max), pen patches off, and no sunglasses on my head or hanging from the flightsuit. Welcome to Pope.
  4. I wanna say that the Vol 3 is an instructors manual. Could be wrong, but for future reference, A-E is 1.3,1.5,1.7,2.3,4.5
  5. Only 17? Whats the big deal?
  6. I just triple the drift for a minute then go back to the outbound heading. Same thing?
  7. Its not gonna cost em a damn thing because it was on AF property. Word is that it hit it right on the head.
  8. Herk only needs 60'x3000' to make a take-off (peacetime.) Even shorter during wartime.
  9. If you are going to Whiting, you will get issued a Navy helmet and they will size it for you as well as put the tape on it. After you are done with Primary, you will give them the helmet back (unless you go T-44's). When you get to your AF unit, you will be issued your own AF helmet.
  10. Looks like Dyess is gonna keep theirs.
  11. Dude, believe me, you can wait. I think my favorite times at Vance were the assignmnt night parties. You should definitely check out Gicaros.
  12. His hair gel is even funnier
  13. The Herk does rock. Lets not get into what the C-130 can do better than the C-17. Because its just about everything. I think the C-17 has a better air conditioning system.
  14. I saw it today. I thought it was funny that all of the ABMers had pilot wings on. That was great. Also every time the "fighter pilot" took off he was cleared unrestricted to FL250.
  15. The Links are money. Close to base and pretty close to downtown.
  16. I dont think the thread was meant to degrade into wife bashing, just to point out that wives have the ability to get out of hand and its just something to think about and watch out for.
  17. I was VN 05-07
  18. This quote is awesome. It was on that flightinfo site. "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873) Pretty eloquent way to state how I feel about the love-not-war liberals around the world and an idiot that would complain about being woken up at 9 in the morning in the middle of the week by a memorial service.
  19. I guess I dont get it.
  20. Thats kind of what I figured. Just though I would ask here first. Thanks for the constructive answers.
  21. If I was able to find someone that would trade their Little Rock slot for my Pope slot, is it even possible to get AFPC to make it happen?
  22. You guys keep asking why this guy is wearing a flak vest. How about why is this guy out of the jet with his helmet, mask, and visor on, wings on his shoulder, and looking at his Falcon View printout?
  23. That looks like one of those pics where if you provide the winning caption, you can win a hundred bucks.
  24. Called a Seabee cover.
  25. I was doing an approach into some field in Kansas that didnt have an approach control so we had KCC controlling us. They were obviously annoyed at having to give us vectors to the field. It was completely down to mins, had all my anti-ice on and the winds were right at limits. On top of that we had to shoot a LOC to a different r/w and circle to the active (this seriously isnt made up.) Basically not a good day. I ended up getting on the ground first try but my wing had a little trouble. As soon as they were starting the circle, the pilot got disoriented and jacked up the circle and stated they were going around and requested vectors around for the same approach. At that point the center controller started screaming "NO SIR, IF YOU WANTED ANOTHER APPROACH YOU SHOULD HAVE COORDINATED IT WITH ME BEFORE HAND." They filed a complaint after they got on the ground and the guy ended up getting canned.
