  1. I searched and couldn't find anything concrete. Do to reduced budgets, sequestration, etc our squadron is now mandating that students double up in lodging while on X/C's to the max extent possible. Is it legal to force them to do this or not? This is AETC JSUPT environment by the way.

The lodging reg AFI 34-246 says:

Table 1.1. Minimum Space and Privacy Standards (for existing inventory only)

All Commissioned and Warrant Officers; All Civilians - 250 square feet (net) living area: private room, private bath (Note 2)

  2. Mislead? You think he's spreading bad info on purpose? One of the reasons this site is so popular is because the air force's rules are so numerous, hard to understand, hidden, and ever changing. We use it to crush WOMs. You are angry or surprised that people don't understand the BPZ process? Really?

  3. Possibly true, but it doesn't matter. Just like when they moved the last Majors board back. Everyone will still pin on at the same time, there will just be less time between getting promoted and pinning on.

Mmmmm, check is still in the mail on that one. I'll believe it when I see it.

  4. I'd think our senior leaders would be more ashamed of our inability to procure weapon systems, our incredibly inefficient mobility systems, and our overall lack of readiness as a military service rather than call signs or sts. I guess I'll be more of a MAJCOM staff push guy due to my lack of perspective.

  5. It's sad that people are forced to ask these questions on an internet message board rather than just being able to ask their boss.

On the other hand, it's awesome that this board exists to answer questions like this. I don't know what I'd do without bops.

  6. Yes, a few will still get out, but $100K+ per year pay until retirement, free medical for the entire family, guaranteed retirement at O-5 of $52K+ per year and climbing, AND $225K signing bonus with $112.5K up front?

Guaranteed for 80+% (75% in the zone, 5+% BPZ)

So 80% is synonymous with "guarantee"? I'm actually starting to believe that you're from AFPC.

  7. I would bet my career that next year's -11F retention numbers for 2002/2003 will exceed ALL expectations after this year's (very late) bonus raise.

Quoted to reference after next year's numbers come out.

    ... guaranteed retirement at O-5 ...

What are you talking about? The bonus you sign doesn't even guarantee that you'll get to serve to 20. The Air Force could kick you out at 12 years and make you pay back $87.5k of that $112.5k bonus check you got up front.

  8. YGBSM.

Thankfully, this doesn't happen in the CAF.

This does happen in the CAF, and happened at your base the last time your sister squadron got back from the desert. Think about how many FAIP wingmen were coming up on their Major's board...

Or, ever seen the used-to-be-an-ALO requal'd ADO that's in the IPUG because he's "leadership" now?
