Maj Gen Peterson retired as the Chief of Staff for Intelligence for PACAF in 1970.

If you buy it in original condition it is OK, but if you make any modifications to it then you need to ensure it is 922r compliant. If it has already been modified, it should be 922 compliant. Cheers! M2

Remember if you take an original SKS and replace the stock, you then have to ensure that enough other parts are replaced with US made ones so it is 922r compliant. Lots of people don't, but if you go out "bore" (sic) hunting and run into a Federal law enforcement officer of any type, you could have issues because of the modification to the rifle. As for "chinese invasion insurance," hell they'll probably bring more Samozaryadnyj Karabin Simonova rifles with them as if I am not mistaken, they have produced more than any other country in the world!

Having been on both sides of this equation, I can tell you it ain't easy being a landlord! I had to conduminiums that were rental properties for almost a decade. Even with a good property manager, it wasn't easy but in the end it was a good investment. I had a deliquent tenant that couldn't be evicted after failing to pay rent for several months because on the morning the local sheriff's department went by the property there was a light snowfall and state law prohibitted evictions while it was snowing. Not only did we not get the rent from him, there was damage to the condo that we had to fix out of pocket (his security deposit did not cover it). We also rented while stationed overseas, and did our absolute best to return the property to the condition it was in when we moved in. Our last landlords in Belgium were amazed at how much effort we put into to cleaning and repairing the house before leaving, they said they expected some wear and tear but we felt it was our responsibility to bring it back up to standards. Treat the property like it was your own. Wait, scratch that, treat it better than if it was yours!

Well, it figures, I get a little good news; then some ass hat has to shit on my parade! I had a Arsenal SLR-101SB lined up to buy from a dude a couple of hours away for a meager $550, then he suddenly goes comms out on me. I finally hear back from him this morning saying he sold the rifle locally. Fucking asswipe! I had douchebags like that! Just had to vent. I was quite excited about getting a milled Bulgarian AK at a decent price, now it isn't happening. Fuck!

I am hoping this will be the answer to my dreams... The downside? So a longer wait to get the forms and tax stamps processed, but at least guys in my situation will be able to submit! Cheers! M2

CHLs are no problem, nor are 03 FFLs; but to get a Form 1 approved by the ATF to build a SBR or an AOW, you need a chief LEO to sign off on it, to which the current Bexar County sheriff--Amadeo Ortiz--refuses to do. And since I live outside the SA city limits, that is my only option as an individual. However, there is a work-around by establishing a legal trust, but that's an additional $350 to establish plus the $200 tax stamp on top of that for every weapon built, and it's not really worth the trouble unless I was planning on building numerous NFA Class II firearms... But there is an election this year, maybe we'll get lucky and replace Ortiz with someone who actually respects the Second Amendment!

Must be nice to live somewhere that the Chief Law Enforcement Officer signs off on Form 1s...the Bexar County Sherriff will not!

Fair enough, but I think it can/should be resolved by the JAG before it need to go any higher. But given how such trivial shit commonly gets completely blown out of hand, I understand how it would be a good idea...

Sorry, but I don't see getting anyone's sqn/cc involved, this is not a UCMJ issue and the JAGs can sort it out. If not, then it goes to civil court or some other arbitrator. I think SCRA has got ya covered, but definitely talk with the folks at the legal office. It's what they're there for! Cheers! M2

Great advice all around. If I may add, make a concerted effort to meet as many Brits as you can. They are really a great people, friendly with a good (albeit sometimes wierd) sense of humor. I enjoyed not only being stationed there, but the couple of trips I've been able to make back. If it were more affordable, and I could have my guns for sporting purposes, I'd seriously consider moving back! Enjoy your assignment, and don't waste a second of it as it will go by quickly! Cheers! We were out in the Texas Hill Country last weekend and that song was on the radio, it'd been years since I last heard it so I looked it up on U-tube which is where I found the vid.
