Your last point is probably one of the most glaringly ignored brief points for this pretend “great powers fight” we think we are ready for.

All of our support enabling functions are being performed by aircraft that started life when people were still crossing the oceans in propeller driven aircraft and ocean liners. We need some new shit airplanes and we need them 9 years ago.

non-emergency aircraft (I'm sorry if you all disagree, but that is the T.O. categorization of a single gen good cross in the T-38, unless a compound EP/failure presents itself),

Incorrect. IFG decision matrixes are gouge, not T.O.s

    Land as Soon As Practical.

“Emergency conditions are less urgent and, although the mis-sion is to be terminated, the degree of the emergency is such that an immediate landing at the nearest adequate airfield may not be necessary.”

But as an OG, the German has an entire shop of likely non-German experts (can’t remember the acronym - I think it ends with a V) to bounce this sort of thing off of.  Not saying he didn’t, but either they concurred or no one felt compelled or able to talk him out of it.

The good news is, this shouldn’t affect the Q3’d reservist’s seniority when he goes back to Delta.

    Insane.

  4. I don’t buy into the fight them over there ideology. I’ve never seen any empirical proof.

There have been plenty of threats that have emerged in the states (not to be scale of 9/11) that have emerged from other places.

Not to mention our Saudi “friends” have more responsibility in 9/11 than merely the geography of Afghanistan.

The fight them over there so we don’t fight them here seems to be a justification for a sunk cost.

Almost all of it, at least the amount you’re acting as sole manipulator of controls.  Expanded reasoning…

FAR 61.51 states you can log PIC when acting as sole manipulator of controls, for any airplane in which you’re rated. Rated = category, class , type (if applicable). You can log PIC while receiving instruction, provided you meet the conditions in the first sentence. T-6 = Aircraft single engine land, no type required.

Does he have a high performance sign off?

If you hold a private or higher FAA ticket already, then you can log PIC/SIC like any other aircraft. Solo and dual received are only for student pilots.

Airlines don’t view it that way.
the only PIC time he will have is solo time.

Most recent iteration of the syllabus has 42.8 hrs programmed in the jet.

    Vance or Randolph syllabus?

Randolph from what I know is AMF aka ITD/sim only.

It is the step towards having no T-1s.

Fighter/bomber bound will still get T-38 eventually T-7 time.

Nah UPT 2.5 is the future man. Wing them after 6 months in a t-6 then send them to a sim top-off.

Honestly it probably would work well if the heavy sim top off wasn’t the POS that is the T-1 sim. Make it in some sort of full motion multi engine jet and it probably would be worthwhile. Too bad the cost per hour of those rivals the op cost of most small jets.

AMF will prob be T-1 sim and ITD (VR Sim)

I may be incorrect but I believe these pilots are Civil Service employees, not contractors.
How it works is a squadron converts a military IP slot to civilian.  It is advertised on USAjobs, interview, and selection.

They are GS-2181-13s, so civil service yea.

Late response from me- but thanks for the info. Does "The Guard" mean the entire ANG nationwide, or each unit respectively? And 't-38 transition' means a non-fighter qual'd rated pilot?

Just trying to understand how it all works. Thanks again

Probably the whole ANG. But those slots can be built in the QMW if needed. T-38 transition is for people who flew toners in Phase III or have been out of a T-38 for a while. It’s to enable success at IFF and is at Randolph.

It’s a “TX” course that doesn’t result in a qual.

T-1 phase III is not real pilot training.  Nothing stopping Ops Sq/CCs from keeping T-1 wonders in MR training till they prove themselves to standards.  Sucks for the graduates as many probably didn’t ask for this but this business shouldn’t  GAF about feelings.

    See how that works?
