  1. Okay, I thought I saw something about this, but after searching couldn't find it. I am up for the bonus next year. My wife wants to do some more school right now. If I transfer the GI Bill to her right now, and I incur that commitment, will I then be ineligible for the ACP? Or, is ACP strictly based on UPT ADSC? I don't want to screw myself out of it. Also, for guys that are in a non-flying staff billet, do they still typically offer the bonus? I know this is all based on it still being around...
  2. Everybody has performed a mission here and there man. Problem with your other examples is that those airframes have a known mission. They may be in a "Break in case of WWIII" case for the moment, but air-air is a real deal. Claim my lack of understanding all you want. You have no idea what I do/don't understand, so be comfortable in your assumption. Sometimes the truth is just ugly and hard to hear. Every mission you have performed has been forced to "prove" the Osprey's caps. Relax dude, I'm just busting your balls anyway. Who cares if the CV-22's best use is for air shows that nobody can participate in anymore? Now your like an F-15C. You're in a "Break in case of Funding" case for the moment.
  3. You mean some of the pilots in the community take themselves too seriously while they try to justify the CV-22's existence in AFSOC? Catching a theme here? Someday they'll find it, but I think the Marines already found the only real use for it. Ring routes...

So, what I learned is that if you're a pro, it only takes about 1-2 sec to change the clip/mag. If you're anyone else it could take 1-2 min to change out my 40-50 rd mag. And Glocks sport 30 rd clips. I've been doing it wrong...

Yep, just got back my "worst paper in the world" with a satisfactory grade, and the prof made comments about how good it was...
  7. Yep, they go TDY looking for a mission for the CV-22... I keed, I keed.
  8. If that's the case, it might be easier for them to qualify. Some of them, and not most of the ones I've seen in the military...
  9. They'll be in the same exact boat as SEALs, Delta, Green Berets, etc. Curious to see how they'll handle that group.

  11. I PCS'd into Nellis back in 2008, and one of my first flights was with Tony when he was still a pretty young co-pilot. I had him make all the radio calls for range entry and what not, and I had him do a majority of the flying. Afterwards he was talking to one of the other co's in the squadron, saying it was one of his best flights he'd ever had because typically, he said they only let him manage ELMO (common jacked up practice back then with young co-pilots). Made me feel good, and he always reminded me of it. The guy is one of the good dudes, and he was always happy with the simple things in life. Was seriously bummed to miss the retirement ceremony. T.O.M.L.
  12. Have deployed with Army, and done several deployments with WO's and I fail to see their big problem. Like any group, there are tools as well as SH dudes, and then there's the average that are perfectly fine for the rest of the time. I fail to see their problem. Especially when talking about pilots, I fail to see why a college degree is required. Throw your spears... Oh, and I read the article linked by BeerMan. Pretty interesting stuff. I enjoyed it.
  13. Nothing and no plans to outside of school they send me to. If I get passed over for O-5, so be it. My priorities have always been Family (to the extent I possibly could while hacking the mission), Mission, my free time (gotta stay sane right), and career has never made the list other than things I was forced into like SOS. I've deployed 7 times, and done 4 45 day trips to Korea, so it's not like I've been screwing over my bros. I take my fair share of the garbage details that are out there. My current CC told me I had to get an AAD even with school select. I told him I had zero plans to do so, since I don't have the time for a real one, and the garbage ones don't interest me in any way, shape, or form. Pretty safe to say, I won't ever get a strat from him. So be it, I knew the score coming in, but so far my priority list has treated me right.
  14. Ok, another possible stupid question. The whole school "dream sheet" is coming up in the next couple of months, and I had a question on the ADSC that comes with it. I never expected to get a school slot (no BA+ or Masters at the board or after, and I don't walk on water) so I never got smart on everything that comes with it. Does the ADSC come with filling out the 3849, or only when picked up for a school. Also, for selects, is there a typical timeframe that you will go to school? For example, with assignments lining up right, will a select go first look, or later? Sorry, like I said, never expected the school slot, so I'm still foggy on the details. I'd ask someone locally, but I'm at a GSU. I'm the only USAF guy around for 11 hours...

Good to know. I wasted too much time before it switched to the new course. Should have just finished 8 months ago... My fault.

For the new ACSC, how anal-retentive are they with the papers? Am I going to need to put serious thought into this thing, or is it like most other garbage papers? Not really looking to waste time here.
  17. That's only because more and more Americans have no clue what is actually going on. They blindly follow what CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc tells them. Not saying Fox is saying same thing as CNN, etc, just that people follow their BS just the same. Show hard facts where continuing to drive the tax rates up ever solved the problem. If it creates more revenue the govt just finds more uses for it. People may blame the GOP, but it isn't their fault. They are equally as inept as the Dems.
  18. Man, you guys got me. I'm gonna tuck my tail and hide now. Two Internet tough guys have ganged up again... Important lesson for everyone, never go against these pillars of BO.net. Pretty sad that even the guys you agree with most of the time do their best to piss everyone and anyone off.
  19. Talk about high horse. Relax just a little. My point is if Rainman is going to jump in and say stuff, why not back it up. No one's asking for a term paper. Maybe I should have been more clear. BO.net is definitely not my only source of info, but I bounce it off a lot of other things, and often use the topics in here as starting points for the research I do. The level of Internet courage in here never ceases to amaze. Your post is a perfect example, but of course your Internet courage will bolster you to say something stupid like, "I'd say that to your face". If that's true I feel sorry for the immense lack of tact and courtesy you subject the world to everyday. Another reason our society is steadily going downhill, everyone who thinks they are slightly in the "right" is, as you say, on some ridiculous high horse that they believe enables them to act however they want.
  20. You guys that are all defending Rainman, I don't get it. I actually agree with his points, and I think Joe is an uber liberal. Problem is, I'm not smart enough in this subject matter to destroy his points other than to say things like, "That just doesn't make sense." Why can't Rainman back it up? For goodness' sake, don't do it to prove Joe wrong, do it to educate those of us on your side of the argument. He does come off as a major prick more often than not, even if he is right. I agree with him more often than not, but that doesn't make him infallible. All of you defending him just because he is "legit" make no sense. He's a big boy, I'm sure he doesn't need the "bro" network to back him up. If he feels it necessary, he'll do it. For people like me, a 60 hour/week job, family, TDY's every two weeks, and other commitments, post up the reasons you're right. Right or wrong, I come here for a lot of information on subjects like these. I take nothing at face value until I can see it backed up with logic and reason.
  21. I'll throw a plug for this in too. A lot of good people in this. They borrowed some footage from the gunner who created the video with footage from the probe a few years back. EDIT for grammar.

Some Rescue guys are doing one through Christopher Ward of London. Much cheaper and cooler looking in my opinion. Different levels of quality though. . They're engraving our green feet in the back as we'll as a numbered series. I'm not running the order, but I could find the guy in charge if you A-10 bubbas want a cheaper version. $500 give or take a bit. Any Rescue bubbas interested let me know. I think we're short a couple watches as well.
  25. Chaff, chaff... Still no answer. Do you get the reference to chaff? It's a military thing, specifically with aircraft that fly in the Air Force. We use it to try and dodge crap. I'm dumbing it down a little, but you get the idea...
