  1. Shack. I'd also say that treating your highly educated, hard working talent like an Airman Basic doesn't help...right down to how to dress yourself on a Monday. Everything is a fuc*ing haze in this service...deploying, PCSing, etc. I'm not even bitter at this point...I'm just kinda numb to the treatment. I'm used to "supporting agencies" being a total pain in the ass, wasting my time on a great idea, bullshit degress, bullshit projects, etc. What really crushes my spirit is that I've seen the same frustration in my sq/cc and gp/cc. It's institutional...dudes hate it...and now Big Blue is trying to $$$$ their way out of the mess they created.
  2. On leave...someone please post highlights or send me PM. TM
  3. Recently got a house at Eglin. USAA via ASI = 4200. Stopped at an insurance broker in Ft Walton and they got me a policy through Federated National at 1969. Damn near identical policies. I've been told by numerous people that USAA is not competitive in mortgage & insurance. My experience has been the same. Last word - my property was 100% compliant on its wind mitigation inspection...that helped get me get the lowest rate. If your property doesn't max out the wind inspection (at least in FL), you'll pay higher regardless of the provider. Good Luck

    A-10 Watch

They are good to work with. They have a POC that handles the military side. If you want the POCs info...send me a PM and I'll zap you the info. They include a leather sleave, extra band, etc. Anything you want to add is also 1/2 retail. They will customize as much as you like...but if you stray to far off from the base model the price will increase. The model you see here is the "Solo"... check out that watch on the website and you can see what they have done for this watch. They are winning alot of watch awards and watch dorks like their products. I figure at 1/2 retail...it is "worth the money" since they won't reproduce the watch again...some watch collector would probably pay top dollar should you sell.

  7. I'll throw one more point into the discussion... The media sensationalizes airshow crashes...especially after Reno (which is not an airshow & doesn't have the same safety measures in place for spectators). There has not been a spectator fatality at a U.S. Airshow in the last 50 years. Some perspective...the Army had 38 suicides in July...by my math that is more than one per day. Why don't we see a headline everyday about a Veteran's suicide? This weekend...1x crash at an airshow = front page news.
  8. Can anyone reference the law regarding stop-loss? Every secondary source I found refers to enlistments that are shorter than 8 years...stop-loss being used to extend the enlistment into and/or up to the 8 year inactive reserve portion. So can stop-loss be used on a pilot with a 10 year contract per the law?
  9. This discussion makes me ill. I can't even put it into words. Locking dudes into what is essentially a 12 yr commitment, how do you offer 11Fs the same bonus as everyone else?...and then have the balls to stop-loss them at the end of the war? Hell...I'm still on the fence on staying in....but taking dudes options off the table after they've given 12 years and multiple deployments is beyond f'd up. Didn't dudes just get RIF'd? I must be drunk right now. FML.
  10. My sq/cc was just at AFPC, he asked if I (11F) could apply for a possible PCS next summer. Answer = No.
  11. Doesn't the FY12 RAP tasking memo make every sortie RAP? I haven't read the doc, but that is what my training guys briefed. We still have requirements for different msn sets...so I guess you could still look at the numbers and derive a dudes tactical sortie requirement. I'll try to track down the memo...does anyone have SA on this chg?
  12. I'm not disagreeing with you. The demo guys get much better training with local RAP sorties...so then that's the savings...you get a tactically proficient IP/SEFE type back in the sq...not dozens of wingmen making RAP as is being offered by ACC. I've got guys in my A10 sq stepping today for dry MOA CAS...alot of show locations are close enough to stop in a MOA for 20-30 minutes and to do dry SAT, CAS, BFM. Is it great triaining...no...but you sometimes do the same type of training at home. My big beef (sts) is that ACC cnx's Demo...changes the name to Heritage...claims savings...and then we still support random static requests throughout ACC with CAF aircraft across all units. We took a great program that was refined over the last 30 years...cancelled it...restarted it 2-weeks later under a new name...and now it's 1/2 the program it use to be.... And like everything else...it's an additional duty for all my friends...AF standard.
  13. We are still going to airshows from all the same bases with a 2-ship (excluding the F15E) to support Heritage. So I guess appling G to the airframe and exceeding 60 degrees of bank is where the real cost is at? Its like funding the TIB schedule, then having them lip sync...why not just do the demo since we are spending the resources going to the airshow? The demo guys were logging RAP on most X-C sorties. To say every hour was saved for RAP was incorrect. Cancelling the demo program will require the demo dude to meet RAP requirements at home station....it won't allow for 69 wingmen to now meet RAP requirements...that was total BS. If the program needed to be cut - OK...then cut. Instead we turn it into a shell of what it used to be....and claim we are saving money by not calling it a demo team. I think the new USAF Heritage Fly-By teams cost almost as much as the old demo teams...how am I wrong?
  14. Like many, depending on the design rules....I might have a handful of dudes (sts) interested.
