Hey guys, I'm an army aviation captain (blackhawk pilot) with a couple years left on my contract looking at my options. My wife is Air Force, and we're considering a bridge transfer of myself to Air Force to stay together (she doesn't want to wear green). I want to see if any of the senior guys could help me answer some critical questions. 1. Is it possible to transfer straight into UPT (or would I need to even) from Army Aviation as an O-3? Or have you heard of army officers doing this? 2. If I come into AF/UPT as an O-3 with 3 years, will I be at risk for career progression (i.e. Never make O-5)? 3. Will being a H-60 driver pigeon-hole me into pav hawks…

After my TBAS and AFOQT, I ended up with a 93 Pilot, 75 NAV and 52 PCSM with 0 flight hours. 200+ Hours puts me at 90. I have 2 now so Im bumped to a 57, but it seems like the newer format really focuses on flight hours. I'm young so theres a decent chance I'll see 200 hours before im too old to apply for boards. However, does anyone have a decent understanding on how the scoring works? Would it really be worth it to go back and take the TBAS again? Any input is appreciated.

  4. Hello, as you may be able to tell, this is my first post. Before I ruffle any feathers by my sheer ignorance, I just wanted to say that the past 5 years I have struggled to make headway with any moves towards a career in aviation and military due to not being a U.S. Citizen (from UK), as well as lacking the funds. Since my circumstances have changed, I hope to put in 100% over the next year or so to be competitive for an ANG/AFRES slot. I am sorry for not posting test scores because I only just became a citizen! I just wanted to have preliminary confirmation/denial that I am 1. Young enough, 2. Have enough education/experience, 3. The right attitude, - as a first step. …

Hey Friends. Can't believe they're pushing us old timers through the system this year and figured if ever it was my year, this is it. Some feedback on my package is appreciated - I really have no idea what this board is going to look like! I assume I'll work the ancillaries (strats, etc) into the 215 bullets since no ROP makes it to the board. Anyone else hitting UFT this year and want to share some tips? I appreciate you all! 32 years old in November, looking at 11, RPA, then ABM and CSO (in that order.) No health/medical waivers. Excellent (95+) PT history. 17. I was referred to this forum by a current active duty AF pilot. I am currently in the end process of the AF Officer application process and currently have a scheduled start date for OTS. There are a couple of things that have come up in the last couple of weeks that have raised some red flags regarding the information I have been given by my recruiter versus what I have been told by several current AF pilots as well as a flight instructor. I am wanting to fly, however my overall GPA from college is just under the 3.00 requirement (2.75). What I was told by the recruiter that I have been dealing with is that if I want to apply for a pilot slot, I would have to get in…

Hey everyone! I just wanted to see if anyone could shed some light on how my chances are looking right now. I am at an F16 guard unit as an E5 in the safety office and I am currently 29.5 years old. I have 45.4 flight hours and a PCSM of 81 and I am awaiting my PPL check ride right now. My AFOQT scores are 98-pilot, 91-Nav, 87-Acad, 87-verbal, and 81-quant. I have about a 3,2 GPA with a nursing degree. I am looking to apply to the ANG or AFRES to fly heavies. My score will go up to 85 at 60 hours. Thank you all in advance for any light you can shine or advice about how to improve. Taylor Pate

Good day all, I am a prior enlisted Navy veteran looking to fly fixed wing of some kind, branch isn't as important to me as flying on AD. I was an aviation electronics technician for four years before getting out honorably with a favorable RE code. I have knocked out my bachelor's degree and will be graduating this December with my masters, GPAs were 3.73 and 3.77 respectively. No prior flying experience. I initially was interested in flying for the Navy since that would feel the most familiar to me and went so far as to start the commissioning process, but two weeks in, my recruiter contacted me about an email he'd received from upstairs that the Navy has met i…

Hello Everyone, I am currently in the process of auditioning for military bands but one of my biggest worries is the fact that I have high myopia. My prescription is around -11 in each eye with 2.00 CYL in each eye as well. Allbeit this is me corrected fully to 20/20 vision so I assume that 20/40 is probably much less. I was wondering if I should get LASIK or PRK or would I be able to skip that process entirely with a wavier? I have no history of any eye problems and my eyes are in great health. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  24. Looking for any insight as to how my odds are looking for Guard/Reserve pilot slots. I'm open to all aircraft, and really just want to be in a unit that I'd fit in with, and to possibly spend 20+ years there. I'm prior AF Active duty, and now in the Reserve as an E5. Here are my stats: 24 years old PCSM: 78 (poor TBAS performance) AFOQT Pilot: 99 Flight hours: 62, with PPL GPA: 3.4 Letters of Rec from my O-4 flight commander from Active, O-5 flight commander from reserve, civilian flight instructor, and MSgt supervisor.
