What Are My Chances?

Looking for a pilot slot? Post your "what are my chances?" questions here: AFOQT, BAT, PCSM, ANG and AFRES Slots, *waivers* + more - please include your test scores, GPA, etc...

  1. Hello All, Just wanted to get some opinions on if I should retake the AFOQT to be more competitive for guard fighter units. Pilot: 88 Nav: 67 Academic Aptitude: 83 Verbal: 69 Quant: 86 PCSM 92 with 201+ hours. From the feedback I’ve received from two rejection emails, it seems my pilot score is a bit on the lower side but my PCSM is pretty much on par with the average for interview selectees. I have no problem retaking the AFOQT but I am concerned about the risk of potentially scoring lower. I also have 5,000 hours of civilian flight time. The only reason I mention that is I wasn’t sure if that would be a factor when looking at the…

I seen a few people mentioned they used a tutor of Wyzant or another website and got great scores on the AFOQT. I want to use a tutor for my retake. Could someone post me the link of a tutor that they used?

  3. Prepping my package for this year and wanted to know what my chances are for the active duty board as a current CSO. AFOQT Scores Pilot:79 CSO:77 ABM:78 AA:73 VERBAL:93 QUANT:46 PCSM 82 I have a PPL WITH 134hrs and an additional 556 Mil hrs with 200 Combat Hrs. Additionally I was the DG for my position for my FTU, not sure if that accounts for anything. I appericate any input provided.

  4. I'm one year out from graduating at this point, so I can start the process. I'd like to fly a fighter in the ANG/reserve, but I wouldn't mind taking my chances with AD (well, I kind of mind) Age: 21 Degree and GPA: 3.7 in Electrical Engineering, specialization in RF and photonics AFOQT: 99/98/99/92/84/93 PCSM: 99 LORs: LOR from my principal investigator of the student satellite program that I am in. Flight Experience: PPL with 80 hours. Extracurriculars: Currently the Chief Engineer for a student satellite program. I also have an internship at that same program working on a funded project that should be launching in 2024. …

  5. Looking for any insight as to how my odds are looking for Guard/Reserve pilot slots. I'm open to all aircraft, and really just want to be in a unit that I'd fit in with, and to possibly spend 20+ years there. I'm prior AF Active duty, and now in the Reserve as an E5. Here are my stats: 24 years old PCSM: 78 (poor TBAS performance) AFOQT Pilot: 99 Flight hours: 62, with PPL GPA: 3.4 Letters of Rec from my O-4 flight commander from Active, O-5 flight commander from reserve, civilian flight instructor, and MSgt supervisor. I can retake the TBAS in June and I know I can do better, although the stick and rudder control section were challenging for me due t…

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has seen guys come off AD and get UPT slots. Always thought about flying but wanted to do other things on AD. Don't regret it, but now that I'm ready to come off I want to explore the possibility of going rated. O-3, 4 years in, 3 years ADSC left, so would need to palace chase (I'm 26 now). PPL with about 90hrs, but no time last 5 years. only really interested in working/living in one state (AZ), but willing to fly anything. Also, anyone know how life works when you're a reserve/guard flyer? I understand UPT is full time but after you get to the unit, do things work like they do with other jobs, Appreciate it.

Hey Friends. Can't believe they're pushing us old timers through the system this year and figured if ever it was my year, this is it. Some feedback on my package is appreciated - I really have no idea what this board is going to look like! I assume I'll work the ancillaries (strats, etc) into the 215 bullets since no ROP makes it to the board. Anyone else hitting UFT this year and want to share some tips? I appreciate you all! 32 years old in November, looking at 11, RPA, then ABM and CSO (in that order.) No health/medical waivers. Excellent (95+) PT history. AD Capt, Non-Rated 80/92/97/97/92 (2012 --- was gunning for ABM at the time) MBA GPA 3.3 …

  16. I was referred to this forum by a current active duty AF pilot. I am currently in the end process of the AF Officer application process and currently have a scheduled start date for OTS. There are a couple of things that have come up in the last couple of weeks that have raised some red flags regarding the information I have been given by my recruiter versus what I have been told by several current AF pilots as well as a flight instructor. I am wanting to fly, however my overall GPA from college is just under the 3.00 requirement (2.75). What I was told by the recruiter that I have been dealing with is that if I want to apply for a pilot slot, I would have to get in…

  18. Hey everybody, long time lurker but finally joined in to start posting. Long story short, thought I missed the boat on pursuing a dream but the AF did me a solid and bumped up the age limit. Therefore, I’m taking advantage of a second chance to pursue the flying life. Good day all, I am a prior enlisted Navy veteran looking to fly fixed wing of some kind, branch isn't as important to me as flying on AD. I was an aviation electronics technician for four years before getting out honorably with a favorable RE code. I have knocked out my bachelor's degree and will be graduating this December with my masters, GPAs were 3.73 and 3.77 respectively. No prior flying experience. I initially was interested in flying for the Navy since that would feel the most familiar to me and went so far as to start the commissioning process, but two weeks in, my recruiter contacted me about an email he'd received from upstairs that the Navy has met i…

Hey everyone! I just wanted to see if anyone could shed some light on how my chances are looking right now. I am at an F16 guard unit as an E5 in the safety office and I am currently 29.5 years old. I have 45.4 flight hours and a PCSM of 81 and I am awaiting my PPL check ride right now. My AFOQT scores are 98-pilot, 91-Nav, 87-Acad, 87-verbal, and 81-quant. I have about a 3,2 GPA with a nursing degree. I am looking to apply to the ANG or AFRES to fly heavies. My score will go up to 85 at 60 hours. Thank you all in advance for any light you can shine or advice about how to improve. Taylor Pate

  24. I am currently serving as an enlisted aircrew member, looking to make the jump to ANG/Reserve pilot. Here is my obligatory "what are my chances". 25 years old AFOQT: 92/65/39/57/26 PCSM: 83 (97 at 201 hours) PPL W/ 50 Flight hours B.S. Business (One semester left) GPA: 4.0 My AFOQT scores aren't the greatest but I'm a little hesitant to retake and do worse. I don't have a preference towards fighters or heavies, I will fly a box with wings if it sends me to UPT. Have about 1.5 years left on my active service commitment, but I figure its best to start applying now. Is it possible that since I am already an enlisted flyer and have been …
