So, looking over all of the postings recently, there has been alot of talk about the tweet gouge. Everyone seems to agree that guys inbound for UPT should at least know the Boldface, but there has been alot of talk about the boldface having changed. Can it really change so much that it is nolonger worth looking at? Also what is the Boldface test like, fill in the blank, multiple guess, or is it verbatium write out every boldface? Any help would be appreciated.

What do most guys do for computers at UPT? Is it advisable to grab a good laptop that you can take with you to class, or just stick to a desktop in your quarters?

I thought I remember hearing that if you are activated or have orders to move that you can terminate your lease without any penalty. Does anyone know if this is true and where to find more information?

I'm going to PIT this summer and was hoping to get some gouge so I know what to expect. I'd like to take my wife too. What is the lodging on and off base like? And the really important question... How much do they pay you while your at PIT? Thanks for your help.

What's the purpose of a numbered Air Force? Are they each tasked with a specific mission or geographical area?

Hey everyone, looks like I'm inbound to XL for class 05-12. I've seen a few other people on here that are going as well and I was wondering where everyone was coming from and backgrounds, AD/Reserve/Guard, etc etc etc. As for myself I'm a former AD guy thats going reserve (KC-135's). Im wondering why do some guys crush the backs of their flight cover, so the back sticks up? Others will make a the back flatten out in the back. If you arent seeing what Im saying. When you put the cover on push the back down, it creates a tail look. Can anyone tell me why? I heard a few things. In WWII the flight caps were crushed by the headset, and it stuck. Another one was that guys with tons of hours "can" do it. Then I heard that fighter/bomber guys wear the crushed-back-tail-sticks-up (USN speak ducktail) And the heavy drivers wear the one with the back flatten and sticking out back. Two weeks ago I found out I lost my WSO slot but will be going to Intel Training instead. It's an acceptable trade. I'm actually very excited about being part of the intelligence community. Does anyone know much about Intel Training? How is San Angelo? What types of drops are there out of training? I'd really like to get into the special ops side of the intel world, specifically at McChord. Is there anything I can do to get there?

How much leeway does the student have in deciding where to go on a cross country at pilot training? Does the IP assign a destination or can the student have input? I know it probably depends on the IP and what phase or track you're in, but I'm wondering if the student can plan a XC to somewhere they want to go (within reason).

Please forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is fix to fix flying?

Was thinking...would it be worth it to go in Guard/Reserve during college if it helped my pilot chances? I'm not just doing it to help my pilot chances, I think it would also just benefit me overall as a person. I have two concerns though: a) What happens in terms of deployment if it's the middle of the semester? Is the two-week deployment during the summer or is it held at any point of the year? And what field is deployed the least? I guess if I got sent somewhere in the middle of a semester I could make up credits in the summer session, but I'm sure it's be a royal pain. I know I may be jumping the gun a little but this has been bothering me. I am in the application process for AF reserve and was wondering whether I will need to get rid of all my stuff or will the AF store it for me. I currently own a house with a furnished living room and bedroom. The other furniture is junk so I will just trash it but the other stuff I worked hard to pay for. I also have a car and a motorcycle. My question is since I am single I know I will prob get a small furnished dorm in UPT, but will the military pay for moving my stuff and store it?? I only ask because I know when my mother joined the AF as a nurse about 10 years ago they moved and stored her furn…

I searched for this topic but didn't find much info. Getting ready to graduate and I heard that you can get your instrument and commercial ratings by taking a written test. Is this true? How much extra work would it be to get the CFI rating? I know I probably won't use any of them much in the military, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to have them...

I'm in the market for a new watch and for those of you who have been through UPT, would you suggest a watch that has an E6B function? Is it more advantageous than than fumbling around with that gargantuan wizz-wheel in the airplane?

Can someone please clarify for a British civil flight/tower/atc ops person just what an option is you get cleared for? We often get things at an airfield very close to us 'cleared for the option' and that can actually be anything from a full stop, low approach, go around or touch'n'go and just what the pilot does can affect our neighbouring pattern. So just what is an option?

Just curious if any Guard or Reserve guys here have done SOS in residence...alot of the pilots in my unit laugh at going to SOS in residence, but I think it might be kinda fun to hang out with some other folks and get four weeks worth of days. Anyone do it and think it's better to just go correspondence?

I was just wondering for those people going the T-44/C-12 route if they get typed? I know in the civilian world a Be-200 King Air was right at 12,500 GW, which would not require one. I wasn't sure if the military versions operated at a higher Gross weight requiring a type rating. Also, does the T-6 Texan II require one?

Is IFF conducted at Sheppard? If so, when I graduate will I remain at Sheppard or is there a chance I could get sent to Moody? I'm doing EWO training right now and it looks like I'm headed to Omaha for the RC-135. Anyone been there or know of the place to comfort the blow?

I just found out that my UPT class start date got pushed back to October 12th. Anyone else going then? I'll be on casual for about three months before that as well. See you on the other side!
