  1. I think the civvies thing may have been pushed from higher than wing level, since more than one base in the AOR made the exact same change on the exact same day. And another 10 feet prior to that. We've all seen it in every aspect of the Air Force. Taking CBTs for every ORE leading up to an ORI so you can be "more green", the OG/CC setting a time for a briefing, SQ/CC pushes that back 15 minutes, FLT/CCs push THAT back 15 minutes, soon you're sitting in the base theater an hour before the briefing is supposed to start, one crew does something stupid in a plane and we're all watching a video of the CFACC telling us not to dick around...
  2. I'm looking forward to it. Our safety officer told me the trailers look just like USAF safety: "Well, you saved hundreds of people...but we're going to start disciplinary proceedings for x, y, and z".
  3. I think it actually took a little more skill to weave together the disparate stories to paint a broad picture of what the zombie apocalypse would like like from many angles. Perhaps I'm also influenced in that I didn't read it, but got the audiobook for a cross-country car trip. The audiobook employs many, many well known actors for the readings...Mark Hamill as the soldier, Carl Reiner as the VP, Alan Alda as the POTUS, and Max Brooks doing the intro, for starters. I was riveted the entire time.
  4. Looks like they have completely disregarded the story written by Max Brooks. I don't know why they bothered spending the money on the rights to the book.
  5. There's a wide gulf between "high marks" and "no derogatory information"..
  6. You know, I googled my own name, and was surprised to find out that I am not actually an officer in the USAF because there's no open-source documentation of my commissioning.
  7. So, how is it that she has such good performance reports, yet she's still a TSgt at 17 years?
  8. Hell, I thought that was common knowledge. I've got nothing but respect for the single-seat dudes...I don't know how you guys run all the radios, avionics, fly the plane, and employ weapons at the same time.
  9. Yeah, it's a real shame we don't put radios in the F-16 so they can talk to the JTAC or the ground commander.
  10. Agreed. When I take a shower at the gym, I wrap the towel around my waist until I'm back to my locker, then I get dressed. It bugs me when the 70-year-old retirees wander around the entire locker room, chit-chat, shave/brush their teeth/whatever in front of the sink, rummage around in the locker or their gym bag...all naked. Getting my clothes back on is pretty much priority one for me in the locker room.
  11. So you're asking for a source, from guys who have been there/done that, and who watched it happen? Hell, if there were a source, guys like Rainman and Danny would probably be the dudes the author quoted. To the rest of you...would we really gain that much in the current fight giving C-models Sniper pods and having them on hand just for strafing runs and shows-of-force?
  12. Coupled with the fact that the bandit is moving out of your way...the ground is not.
  13. So pre-marital sex is endorsed by the Catholic church? I must have missed that proclamation by the Pope.
  14. And yet, no bonuses for 12B. I guess it's easier to get new ones than to keep the experienced instructors.
  15. Oh good, a weapon that can be defeated by sheet metal. Sure hope our enemies don't figure out how to build with that.
  16. Sounds like something from a bad comedy.
  17. Apparently the record didn't stand for long. http://www.duffelblo...already-broken/ I guess Kittinger and Yeager have quite a history.
  18. There are already a handful of folks here on accompanied two-year tours.
  19. What I'm curious about is, we did all this to be "green"...how are we handling the mercury in the 32 watt bulbs, I wonder? Is it more green to save yourself 4 watts by starting from scratch?
  20. I think it will be a permanent change. If they're going to make these places enduring, PCS locations, then it's a pretty obvious move to stop treating it like a FOB in Afghanistan.
  21. We did some group running in the mornings, when the SOS cadre had it scheduled. We never took the guidon. My flight wasn't even filled with douches, and we were the top flight in our student squadron. We did a lot of flight bonding over alcohol, and we never got ridiculous with the motivational run-type stuff...most of the time we played basketball or football as our "PT activity" after class. Bottom line: you don't have to be a douchnozzle to do well, you just have to have some motivation to crush the hopes and dreams of the douchenozzles in the other flights. Edit: WASN'T. My flight WASN'T filled with douches.
