Thanks. I'll browse through all 142 pages to see if it clearly answers my question.

I was hoping you could make a PowerPoint...

Short answer, Part I is factual information and is releasable. It includes things like photos without analysis and names of people who were interviewed. It must not include analysis, privileged testimony, or findings. It is normally only released to the AIB.

Example: photo of cockpit panel with gear handle up is factual and releasable. Same photo with person's finger pointing to the gear handle is privileged and is not releasable.

If someone releases privileged information, they are subject to disciplinary action.

You can now log off your annual privilege brief...

Take a look at the thread title and take this stupid discussion elsewhere. A toast to RATCHET 33...

It is seriously difficult to take our notion of "OPSEC" seriously when you see articles like that.

So did anyone get disciplined for releasing that photo?

too soon

but

uh...yeah. Way too soon...

...however, I did have a beer at noon today

Reference above.

What photo? The one from the C-17 did not have a finger in it. Therefore, releasable, no disipline.

I wasn't referring to any specific incident. I could have said:

Photo of penny wedged in circuit breaker panel...releasable. Photo of finger pointing to penny wedged into circuit breaker panel...not releasable.

Just trying to make the difference between the SIB's Part I and Part II understandable.

Butters, decaf.

Funny, that is exactly what the Army 1Lt here keeps telling me. I didn't know there was such a thing.

Are we still waiting for the AIB on this one, or did I miss something? The AIB is already out for the V22 crash back in June.

I know there was an SIB, we got briefed on it at home station.

There's always an SIB, AIBs are optional.

There was an AIB. Not sure if it was been completed yet... and it's not classified.

Any idea why it's taking so long? Seems disproportionately lengthy on this one.

Why do you care? SIBs out...SIB is for air crew.

Stupid question...where would I go to look at the SIB?

Safety guy in your squadron will point you in the right direction.

The SIB had very little to go off of, and had a lot of theory, conjecture and "best guess" which may be holding up the AIB.
