  1. I think the most interesting part about that video is that they actually call their nav's CSOs.
  2. Starsan is decent. I'm an iodophor guy myself. Big number 2 on the burner and wort chiller. Chillers are fairly common to find used which is nice because copper is pretty pricey these days. Also, depending on where you live you might want to consider buying decent purified water for your brew. I live in AZ and the water here blows and ruins beer, so I buy it. Make sure its simply purified and not distilled. You want some minerals in the water for proteins to bind and other nerdy beer chemistry stuff to happen. Get a good book and read it. John palmers "how to brew" is good and I think is free online, in fact I think someone posted a link earlier in the thread. Charlie Papazian's "the complete joy of home brewing" is also good. Please excuse my poor grammar, punctuation and spelling. Typing on an iPad is a pain.
  3. http://stores.mdhb.com/-strse-41/BREWER%27S-BEST-DELUXE-EQUIPMENT/Detail.bok - This is a good one. They have one for sale with better bottles (food grade plastic) instead of glass carboys. I used to work here in college so I'm biased towards them. I like this company too: http://www.midwestsupplies.com/brewing-starter-kit.html Theye cheaper than the first one I suggested. Either way you're gonna need to get a boil pot. Splurge now and get a 40 qt stainless brew pot. save your money and frustration and DO NOT buy aluminum. The benefit of starting with the larger pot is that when you transition to all grain brewing you'll already have a pot large enough to handle that process. You will also need a thermometer. If you already have a kitchen one that you cook with, that'll be just fine. Most of these sites to buy online one have ingredient kits as well. Pick your poison. I will caution against getting kits that you think will be like a light lager. Unless you have extra fridge space you won't be able to lager the beer and thus you will not get what you're expecting. You'll still get good beer, just not what you might expect. Good luck and and have fun!
  4. Vertigo, sir, I concur with your post. Edit: I'm a pretty big Hendrix fan. My high school senior year government project was to try and make Hendrix the state musician of Washington. I had all the legislation written and support from my congresswoman, but the Lt governor wouldn't allow the legislation to be brought to vote due to hendrix's history of drug abuse. I was pissed, but still passed the class. Wait for it... "cool story brah..."
  5. Any idea as to what it looks like for ewo types to transfer into afsoc?
  6. There's a whole book on messed up cakes like the one above. My parents have it as a bathroom reader.
  7. I have family visiting from VABeach right now. Sounds like both ejected safely. My uncle saw two good chutes. Best wishes to the crew and community.
  8. When was in ROTC I was able to set up an incentive ride on a KC-135. I know it sounds boring, but they were up in order to gas up some F-22s. Pretty rad. The trick was to ask my cadre if it was cool if I set it up, and also to tell them that everyone had the opportunity to go on the ride.
  9. Same goes for the future EC bros. PM if you want info on what to expect when you get to Tucson.
  10. What was the nav/EWO breakout on the EC's?
  11. Saw some signs she's posted this morning for the first time. They're huge. Of course there are none near the base's gates.
  12. No upper lip hair heritage allowed for the members of the 55 ECG at DM due to the ORI.
  13. Seriously, the only thing you missed out on was the tdy money.
  14. Ive seen Kelly and antenori signs all over Tucson. Haven't seen a seen a McBlinky one yet.
  15. So, the FAA has an 8 hr bottle to throttle or below .04?
  16. They're specifying crew positions for the RC-135s now eh?
  17. Ha! Didn't mean to be a dick, but thanks for the acknowledgment. I'm pretty brand new to the EC community. From what I've seen so far, EWOs have quite a presence in leadership here. For example, The 55th WG/CC is an EC EWO. Deployments vary based on crew position, but I think they're reasonable. I dont know what'll happen with the drawdown of OIF. Tucson is awesome. Lots of stuff to do here and the weather is great. Also, EWOs have the chance to go to WIC here too, which I hear is good for those aspiring a long and good career. PM me if you have any other questions. Again, I'm pretty new here, but I can ask around the squadron if there's something I can't answer.
  18. Ahem...the EA-6 is not Americas only EA platform. Thanks.
