  1. don't forget that all that "help" from airmen was put on disregard. And how many people did we fire to pay for R&D of this asinine motto? If this isn't FW&A, show me something that is (aside from TIB, that's confirmed FW&A)
  2. If this thread deserves to be merged with the motto thread, then so be it, but I don't really intend this to be about the motto, rather, the gem contained in the latest AF Fish Wrapper article regarding said motto: http://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2010/10/af-motto-brings-praises-103010w/ That part is about 1/3 of the way down the article, with further gems of boohooing shoeclerky. More of the same "everyone has an equal piece of the pie" bullshit that is not the case. Sorry, but the AIR force is primarily about FLYING. Whether we are flying airplanes, missiles, satellites, or trons, we are about FLYING. We are not about admin, we are not about finance, we are not about personnel. If you are not FLYING, you are supporting FLYING. There's no shame in supporting, and there would be absolutely 0.0 effective flying without effective support, but don't get all butthurt when the AIR force embraces its heritage of FLYING and its core mission of FLYING. (notice a trend in this rambling rant?)
  3. the black one makes for an epic batman belt
  4. I actually got an email back from the company that they don't have any OCONUS database stuff, so they're suddenly a LOT less appealing, since getting lost over CONUS isn't really a big concern.
  5. 115v 60Hz AC available from convenient 3 prong outlets
  6. I've been considering getting a Garmin 695 for a while, but recently stumbled across the Anywhere Duo. It looks promising, but I really have no knowledge about them. On paper it looks great, but I can't find any real practical information about how it is. I'd like to use it as an SA backup due to an often questionable on-board navigation system.
  7. How about an E-8C with ALL the antennas modeled? That would be impressive. On a more serious matter, nice looking models, and good luck with your desire to sponsor UPT classes.
  8. according to the article, the promotion rate is being adjusted for captain to 95% (current official rate for major) and major is dropping to 90%. That would seem to mean there will at least be some competetive process involved to make O-3, and that will inspire young shoeclerks to write glowing PRFs in the name of "taking care of their people". This leaves everyone else holding the bag of having to write ever better PRFs to compete with the people who go way too far writing a PRF for O-3
  9. I want to see a Lt get passed over and then offered continuance, then retire as a 20 year 1Lt. THAT would be classic, and I would buy that man a beer.
  10. is she active duty, or guard/reserve? The later is not always readily available on the GAL
  11. just more invented psudeo heritage while the AF tried desperately to minimize our real heritage (which includes FLYING)
  12. read it today... "wow" didn't even do it for me, just a shake of the head.
  13. One step further: http://usaf.aib.law.af.mil/ I appologize for stirring this shit storm, I didn't read the post close enough to realize it was just the SIB that had been released and not the AIB.
  14. The Deid now is a LOT better than it was a year ago. Last year was the Shoepocalypse and nearly resulted in a mutiny when they started kicking dudes out of the chow hall for not wearing a disco belt INDOORS. They've backed off considerably since then.
  15. can anyone confirm or deny that MALAK is dead?
  16. I rocked the black batman belt for a month and never so much as a nibble from the shoes. I think next time I'll get pouches and make a reflective utility belt out of it or something... I've gotta figure out some new way to troll them.
  17. So I just saw the Ginger crusing the CC BX. After throwing up in my mouth a bit (standard) I noticed she's wearing a pair of crocs. I was VERY tempted to REMF her on it on the grounds that turnabout is fair play, but I refused to become what I hate. ETA: Also, there is a definite reduction in shoeness around here. I walked all the way from the FAR trailer by the cops all the way to Fox Sports with my University of Miami hat on last night, and not one shoe said anything to me. This time last year it would have been like storming the beaches of normandy to pull something like that off.
  18. agreed. I think the only way it would really work is to send short data bursts, so you still won't have real time information, but better than nothing. Companies would have to buy block time for each jet on each frequency or something like that. Not to mention, it's one thing for FDRs... could you imagine real time reporting of CVRs?!? That is a can of worms I do NOT want to see opened.
  19. yep, i got the new shorts, and they're what they should have been in the first place.
  20. I agree, and I think it's what we should have gone with, not necessarily 2 miles, if the AF preferred 1.5 it doesn't really make a difference. The waist measurement was definitely the most "fudged" category, and even when done honestly it's hard to be consistent about it. SIMPLE PT test that would work for the AF 1 minute max pushups 25 points 1 minute max situps 25 points timed run 50 points it's really just that simple, and would eliminate most of the wailing and whining that is associated with the current PT test.
  21. we've got dudes in my sq who scored in the mid-high 90s and still FAILED because of the bullshit waist measurement. Even the AF can't come up with a logical explanation for why there's a waist measurement in our FITNESS test. The "official" reasoning behind it is that waists greater than 40" are predictors of future health problems. My contention is that if it's HEALTH based, put that in my PHA when you assess my HEALTH, and let me demonstrate my FITNESS during the FITNESS test when you're assessing my FITNESS. The PT test is bullshit, and leadership's excessive focus on PT is bullshit as well. We're retiring planes and firing airmen because we're broke, but we're going to stand up an entire new division at the HAWC and hire a bunch of civilians to give freaking PT tests? How does THAT make sense? Our first core value is INTEGRITY, and the service is not only calling our troops liars, but they're spending a LOT of money to do it. I'm not going to say there wasn't some fudging with PTLs, but there are ways to correct that within the system that don't cost a dime more than the way it used to be.
