  1. definitely talk to them. Pretty sure i remember people who did what they could and re-tested a couple weeks later
  2. Your unit fly fighters? If so you got a 99.69% chance of going to Sheppard. If not you could maybe put in a request for which base. I would explain the situation to them, but I'm pretty sure it's like one dude who takes care of all the dates at the bureau. The 6-9 week WOM is fairly accurate, I would say more on the 6 week side.
  3. FWIW.. there are AFI's that talk about landing currency and breaks in training, which you could use to your advantage when talking to your unit. For example AFI11-2t-38V1 AETC Sup 1 section 5.11 talks about BIT sortie authorization etc. pre and post IFF for -38's. Not sure about other ac but they want 45 days or less for fighters. Bottom line they should keep you on orders
  4. try airforceots.com they usually have all posts about ots/ams classes

Saw the above post about classic 10-22s. I wasn't shooting mine as much as I'd like, so I wanted to make it into something that was different and the ladies would enjoy to shoot. I bought this stock, took a dremel to the inside at fit the receiver and barrel in there. Made a linkage from the forward trigger back to the 10-22 trigger. The magazines (25rd steel lips) stick out of the bottom where the real P90's ejection port is. Took a little bit of tweaking, but works great. Put this cheap ass red dot on it and love it.

Anyone on here have any experience with hornady critical defense? I found this surprisingly well written article about it. Critical Defense Breakthrough I carry federal defense hydras, but I think I might get some of this stuff and give it a try.
  8. OCP? I work for Dick Jones! Dick Jones! He's the Number Two Guy at OCP. OCP runs the cops.

  10. My opinion: It depends on what you have records for. I had a surgery that put a Ti rod in my leg, and a wakeboarding fall where I got checked out for a possible concussion. My unit was very avid about me getting in all of my paperwork, partly to cover myself. A friendly phone call got the ER from my wakeboarding fall to fax me all the paperwork in about 30 mins. A visit to my orthopaedic surgeon got all of my pre/post reports and even got him to write a recommendation that my leg is just fine. Brooks got this all up front, and I think it helped my medical go much more smoothly (there weren't any unanswered questions). Did they need it all? maybe, Did they look at it all, maybe. It was a pain and I know it sucks, but I'D rather be safe than sorry. I think having it all lined up and being over-prepared goes a long way in showing them you want this. I went through before they started their move and it was a very pleasant experience. chuckster
  11. To anyone with retained hardware who's been through the FC1 process (or docs): I broke my left tibia over three years ago, got the surgery (IM rod and two screws), and am completely healed, mobile, full range of motion, etc. I have a FC1 coming up and I am wondering what, if anything, needs to be taken there by me documenting this. Personally, I have some bills etc but no reviews or xrays from my surgeon. Side note: as I understand the reg, as long as it is not subject to trauma and has full range/mobility it is good to go without a waiver. My question is: to make this go as smoothly as possible, is it recommended that I go back to my surgeon, have anything performed like tests, xrays, any sort of recommendation letter, or other documents to take with me, or will Brooks check it all out on their own? Thanks in advance, chuckster
  12. I had the privilege of meeting CDR Tom Garcia and spoke with him for quite a while about the military and space program. He is a decorated Naval Aviator who is very outspoken and just seems like an all around good guy. Very approachable and seems to be genuinely fed up with general perceptions and views towards space and defense. I live in central Florida and we need more people like this in office.
