  1. Resurrecting this thread again, sorry. I was reading on here that as of 2017 a different version of the CCT was implemented from previous versions? I took the, AFAIK, the only version available at the time (Rabin CCT) in 2015 at various civ ophthalmologists. Would the new version be a shock to the system if you're seeing it for the first time? Cheers
  2. I'm on a 6 year Officer commitment, 1 year into it. Been in 3 years total. No loan, tuition assistance, bonuses, nada.
  3. Army Guard. Not pertinent info, but I just started an IST prior to learning about my eligibility for a UPT slot and now I'm in limbo between 2 states currently without a unit. Fun conversation showing up day 1 to new unit saying I have a desire to go ANG.
  4. Do you have any tips for getting a conditional release started? Wait until you get a UPT slot or before you even interview with a unit? Seems like a double edge sword, "Thanks for the UPT slot, just FYI the Army doesn't know I am even here or planning on swapping over yet." On the flip side telling your boss/CO that you already have an AF slot in the ANG/AFRC seems like it could get you screwed over up the chain if they want to be A-holes about it. Personally I plan on being totally honest with a perspective ANG/AFRC unit and see where the cards land.
  5. Off topic questions for prior/current service guys... Did you guys have any issues with interview boards falling on the same weekend as your MUTA/UTA weekends?
  6. Thanks for the info. They offered you an interview I take it.
  7. I'll take that to mean your chances of getting hired there are favorable.
  8. Thanks. So it sounds like if youre borderline they will administer additional tests. A catch 22 if you pass the CCT but for whatever reason can't pass one of the additional tests. I've had years of experience with the Ishihara and FALANT tests to know that depending on the day you could very well fail one of those. Curious if you pass CCT, but borderline, and fail the additional test, they hold that against you.
  9. Hi, Has anybody recently taken the CCT at WPAFB? If you don't get at least a 55 in each cone, how does the re-test procedure go, if at all? Are the examiners lenient or helpful at all, and do they use different methods (ishihara, falant, etc) or is it CCT pass/fail no exceptions? Yes I've read the policy. Thanks
  10. Another note on the Alaska interview board. Expect a large board, 10-12 rated Officers and fuelers.
  11. You will have a great experience up there (if they are still conducting them at Elmendorf). Great bunch of guys and gals. Make sure you block off the whole day so you can hang out and talk to pilots, etc. They will want to show you around the place and inside some planes if they have a chance. One guy at my interview in 2014 was offered a chance to come look inside a C130 with two of us and the guy says "No thanks, I really need to go to my last class of the day." Do the math on that one...
  12. Thanks gents! rb1391, sent you a PM.
  13. Forgot to mention I'm not AD, just typical M-day National Guard, no bonuses or tuition assistance. I heard back from the unit I was offered a UPT slot with in 2014 and it sounds encouraging! Sounds like I may not have to re-apply for a board interview and just get a conditional release from the Army Guard.
  14. Thanks for the replies guys, extremely encouraging and exciting to hear. I'm a maintenance guy so no Army flying for me. I never even took the AF flight physical during the UPT process and there is nothing that ever said I was DQ'd from flight. It was a beaurocratic issue working with MEPS to the point it wasn't productive to pursue it any further at the time. I went to Civ doctors during that time as well who had the CCT in their office. Took it and did not pass to the AF standards at the time, so I figured UPT was dead in the water and moved on with life. rb1391, were you still on a contract when you started the hunt for another UPT slot? I've got 5 years left on mine...which will put me right at 30.
  15. Hello gentleman, I'm an Officer in the Army National Guard. 5 years ago out of college I applied to a bunch of ANG units and got selected for UPT with one. Everything went smoothly until I had a color vision issue at MEPS (since resolved) which ultimately railroaded me from moving forward with flying in the ANG. I was pretty beat at that point. I was reading the thread in the Aviation Medicine section how the AF has since changed their color vision policy and scoring chart on the CCT exam. I have taken the CCT in the past and have passed it to the now AF standards (I took it under the old standards but not at an AF physical). Ultimately, how feasible is it to do a lateral branch transfer to the ANG/AFRC for a UPT slot? I have all the TBAS and AFOQT tests out of the way (I can dig up my scores if i need to), age 25 and instrument rated pilot. TIA
