  1. HIANG said 3-4 more weeks yesterday...but i’d plan on 4-6. They mentioned routing shenanigans.
  2. Guess that “case by case basis” rings true yet again.
  3. Pretty positive you dont go to wright pat off the AD board. That’s why u get the FC1 to be eligible to apply. i didnt go to wright patt after i got picked up in 2017.
  4. That sounds shady as F... I wonder if that’s even IGable?
  5. i’ll kind of buy that. There are tons of possible applicants for rated yet Big blue handcuffs itself with dated requirements and in particular idiotic medical standards that they believe are necessary. There are tons if people who could do the rated job but can’t because of trivial hiccups. They do it to themselves. And i personally dont care about the AF eyes...i’m a big believer in finding something you love doing and you’ll never work another day in your life. If that comes at Big blues expensense so be it. I also believe if you align your workforce according to the above the organization will succeed.
  6. @Pred69 i know you’ve moved on from the UFT boards, any chance u can shed some insight into the process for our non-selects? Why are we turning away dudes who already speak aviation with solid scores?
  7. I was in a similar boat boss. I went 0 for 2 officially and like 0 for 6 lifetime while on AD with similar numbers. go reserve/guard. I’ve found having a commission with the TS, FC1, leadership etc. gets u to the front of the line more often than not (right behind already rated dudes). Started applying/rushing in Oct17 and have been 4 for 4 with the unit reaching back to me for a meet n greet invite/interview invite/follow up questions... if you can get your unit to send you to all the necessary SERE courses that just boosts your resume being a cheaper alternative for whatever unit picks u up.
  8. @GDAL i have a DP waiver. Let me dig it up. DM so we can compare notes once i pull it down.
  9. I was fortunate enough to be TDY at Maxwell about a month before i PCSd. 4 out of 5 weekends i was down in Pensacola driving around checking houses the Mrs picked online, checking neighborhoods/drive times etc. it’s a 3 hr drive one way from maxwell so the day gets long but getting eyes on was clutch. I dont know if you’ll have that kind of freedom at TFOT or a car but i’d try and ask for the freedom and if u dont have the car get a buddies go borrow. Worst they can both say is no... i’d highly recommend your wife give you a power of attorney to sign as her for lease purposes...that way if you’re down here and love something you can work a lease, deposit, etc. and sign on the spot. I didn’t do that and we worked the lease via email post my TDY which was ok just, i just like doing that stuff in person. take away if u can sign a lease like @nunya said you set up your move for a door to door vs door to storage to door
  10. Ran through my old stomping grounds the other day: Kelly Field in San Antonio (KSKF). Word on the street from the AD folks running the airfield is 2 AD F16 squadrons (AETC Tails) are inbound that will fall under the guard WG to bolster F16 B-course production. Apparently Holloman isn’t working out as planned. And it’s happening...my old unit is literally fighting their “eviction” from their current building to make way for the new tennants. Anyone else hearing this?
  11. “Jesus...” or... ”whatever higher echelon you sarcastically name drop when something unbelievable occurs...”
  12. Bump. @FourFans130 I’m in the thick of this fantastic way forward. https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2018/02/05/deploy-or-get-out-new-pentagon-plan-could-boot-thousands-of-non-deployable-troops/ get healthy folks.
  13. So...did you prompt this email response? Or was it them reaching out to you? cause that matters.
  14. FY18 growler drops are donezo for CSOs. Looks like Laughlin dropped the 2nd pilot slot too for the FY. Here’s to hoping these dudes excel so they open up the UPT/UCT pipeline direct to the Growler in future years.
  15. Quite possible. I know two dudes they invited that will be in Hawaii that weekend. Lets hope they continue down the list.
  16. Dodge the bullet and go off base. I had the same thought process and almost same family scenario but it’s not worth the $1329 you’d fork over. NASP is a very old base coupled with the Navy way of infrastructure updates the “houses” are rather dated. Yes, they’re livable by first world standards but the upkeep by Balfour and lack of customer service just adds unnecessary stress to the UCT situation. The rental market is rather large around PCS season (summer) and they love their military (navy) here so there will be tons of options available off base. May have to pay a little out of pocket for something you really like but you’ll get a decent house for your BAH 10-15 minutes away from the back gate (that opens at 0500)...but you won’t have any left to spare on expenses. Pensacola took a BAH cut on the 2018 rates so the former of paying a little out of pocket may actually be the norm now. Be advised...i ran into a few rental agents who were just sketchy...the company was legit, solid website, prices etc but then the agent showed up in flip flops n shorts to show the house, asked for unusual paperwork to apply, i even shook an agents hand said we’ll take it Friday and figure out how to get the money in your bank over the weekend so u get it on Monday and the guy showed the house monday morning and rented it... Depending on the family and your class going off base could get busy for you if you have a heart haha. Most single folks have to stay in the single dorms so routine study parties at your house could be a thing, again, if you have a heart. DM me if you need more.
  17. I imagine your employment is “at will” meaning they could fire you no notice right? Regardless, there are federal protections that SHOULD require LM to hold your position indefinitely until you return. But here’s the sticky part you already disclosed...so that could complicate things. I had a union prior to entering active duty however, I dealt with the “military leave” with my company direct, dropped orders on the desk at HR and said peace out. The union asked me for orders like a year after I entered AD. It could be worth getting legit legal gouge and seeing if u can go on “mil leave” so you stay an employee basically forever as long as you’re on orders. FYI been out 5 years and i’m still on the payroll and get the yearly medical enrollment paperwork. As for flying on AD you better god damn do it. I dont agree with people who are given this crazy opportunity to fly cool jets and do cool stuff and just “give up.” Not that you care but for every one of you who “aren’t sure” there are 100 dudes/dudettes who are 101% sure and would give a left nut (or boob) to fly for the AF...myself included.
  18. Thought i read somewhere they were pushing notifications 2Feb.
  19. Any other folks get HIANG invites and care to share package details?
  20. I’d imagine they’d send out invites all at once if you got invited no? Why cascade invites?
  21. No BUFFs with a few unicornesk drops in this lot...18-07 and possibly 18-08 are in for a treat.
  22. @goddard15 semi-same issue back when I applied. fun fact: they pushed the current version of the form215 that references a "remarks" section but forgot to add said section. I got 3 possible work arounds that previously worked or at least we're allowed after I or someone asked the POC running the board. 1) burn precious space on the 6 lines that your rater and senior rater sign (I did this but wouldn't recommend it...wasted space if you've been doing baller work) 2) one dude I know used section 18 remarks section in the same manner the rater/Sr. Rater sections were used and they took it... 3) ask the POC if you can put an MFR together (with pic of last page of log book) and submit in lieu of "copy of PPL" ASK the POC If any of those options are possible, if they say none then ask them what if anything would be acceptable to them. Doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck.
  23. Any flyers have experience with repeat rhabdo? I'm pending an MEB for it unfortunately with a Do Not Retain recommendation because the flight doc is saying I have the potential to be nondeployable to the sandbox because it's too hot. Does anyone have MEB success story related to rhabdo? Is it waiverable for a FC1/A physical should I be retained? 'Preciate it.
