Guard Heavy Unit - T38s at UPT?
Isn't having gone through T-38s strictly better than T-1s, from a pilot's perspective? I've been selected by a Reserve heavy squadron, but if the opportunity to track T-38s came up I'd leap at it, just because it gives you better options ten years down the road (and, even if you're totally happy with heavies over fighters, as I am, who doesn't want to fly fighters a little bit?).

Can anyone give recent FC1/MFS Experience?
As someone who also failed the depth perception test at MEPS (but knows that I do, in fact, have the required depth perception thanks to a trip to a civilian doc), it's very reassuring to hear that the docs at Wright-Pat are there to help you, rather than weed you out.

KC-46A Info
The KC-10 training is done at McGuire or Travis as far as I know, so no return trip to Altus. I just wonder if they'd bother to "waste" time training me on the -10, or if I'd end up stuck as the squadron gofer for a good chunk of time (more so than the average new guy). Not that the answer changes anything, I'm just curious.

KC-46A Info
I might be getting ahead of myself, but what do you think would happen to a Reserve pilot fresh out of UPT/Altus who got to one of the -10 units, say six months or a year before the -46 actually arrived? Shouldn't be an issue me unless the -46 production is delayed (which would never happen, right?), I'm just curious.

Best Route to UPT
Many Guard/Reserve units will allow you to apply when you have a year of college left. I assume you'd better convince them in the interview that you're definitely going to graduate on time.

Upcoming Boards
I put in for the 109AW and haven't heard anything either. I did get the word for an interview with the 78 ARS today.

Fellow applicant here, didn't hear a word.

Guard/Reserve timeline to UPT
Yeah, the 187th was great, they actually took the time to sit down and talk with us (there were about a dozen prospects there).

Guard/Reserve timeline to UPT
From what I learned at the 187th FW's meet-and-greet a few weeks ago, it just depends on if Sheppard has a class available sooner than anyone else. Not all Guard fighters go there, and you don't have to do a special application for it.

LA ANG is hiring!
Is there a preference for which of the upcoming drill weekends to show up and visit? Who should we contact to ensure gate access? Sent in my application last week, looking to coordinate a trip over with some other Florida-based applicants.

Visiting unit on drill weekend
I believe they said that they're heading to Sentry Savannah for their November drill weekend, so not likely. Never hurts to reach out and see, though.

Visiting unit on drill weekend
Sorry, this past weekend.

Visiting unit on drill weekend
Is it the 187FW? The POC there said 1000-1200 or 1400-COB either day.

Upcoming Boards
Anyone have any insight on the 927ARW's upcoming board? They've reposted the announcement multiple times and postponed the board from July to November, but the POC says they have 70+ applications in already.

The 125th did phone interviews this past week, notifications went out today for those selected to interview with the board.
