I was planning to apply to this board, and reached out with a question about vision waivers. The response was "The unit will not discourage you from applying, but as it currently stands, they do not plan on considering waivers at this time."

My vision has been stable since I started wearing glasses/contacts, is correctable to 20/20 or better, and some of the other units have said it isn't an issue. Just finished my application to the units--literally got my PCSM back 10 minutes ago. For what it's worth--PCSM 74, AFOQT Pilot 98, Nav 99.

However, based on the the response I didn't think it would go anywhere...

I'm willing to apply, but don't want to waste your time if you have qualified candidates already. It sounds like you're involved with the board, so if you have any further feedback I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

@LAPS might feel differently and I definitely can't speak for them, but I have had similar questions... I was told to not self-eliminate - Make them tell you no. I think that's good advice.

  2. PCSM 2.0 is very heavily based on flight hours. A PCSM of 74 for 16 flight hours most likely means your 201+ column is mid to high 90's. Keep flying, earn that pilots license, and I highly doubt it will be difficult for you to get an interview. At that point, just be yourself (I know, but it's true), and hopefully a unit will see you as a good fit.... Just as long as your degree isn't gender studies.

Sounds to me like those snowflakes at fox news needs to retreat to their safe spaces so big mean people like Colin Kaepernick can't hurt their precious feelings.

Some people were dropped on their heads as kids, you were obviously thrown at a wall with great force.

I kid... But seriously, in your universe is Kaepernick really above Fox News? A self-described "civil rights activist" who didn't vote, but has verbalized his support of Fidel Castro?

I was more apologizing for the request for a requirement that likely won't ever be incredibly useful, at the expense of so many other vital aspects critical to fighter performance and capabilities.

Less F-35's and more supers... As a legacy hornet driver I can't imagine you disagree.

I just commissioned through OTS on the 10th. PT during TFIT/TFOT is a joke. It will be mandatory 2 to 3 times a week as a group. You will workout for maybe 15-20 minutes of directed exercises, and my class usually ran straight to the chow hall for breakfast after our last exercise without having time to stretch or cool down. Be careful of injuries. Several PT sessions had 250 cadets sprinting directly at each other in the dark. You will have time to workout on your own whether its outdoors or at the gym on the OTS campus.

Wow, really? Thanks for the info. I was told it was a 2-4 mile timed run every other day, in addition to other workouts (including weight training) so I was going to prepare for that.

    M.S in Education 4.0

Commercial pilot with about 400 hrs TT.

Does the M.S count for anything or will the low GPA of the B.A weigh more heavily?

You can't do anything about your BA GPA now. The best thing you did was control what you could -- you got mid 90's on the Pilot section of the AFOQT and PCSM score. Low Quantitative score depends on the unit. If you get an interview and don't get the job, ask for feedback. They've been there before, and they understand. Scores get you the interview; the interview gets you the job. Whole person concept. Good luck!

There is a theory that the President himself leaked this. The documents were stamped "Client Copy." Gaming it out:

Pros: this return shows nothing really nefarious, shows that he paid taxes at some point (unlike the 1995 return that was leaked), and makes the left look like a bunch of raving lunatics

    Cons: none noted

    Just a thought...

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2017/03/15/did-trump-have-his-own-tax-return-leaked-that-was-the-big-question-after-maddow/?utm_term=.0af0184bf126

    Edit to add: link

If that's the truth, he gets more respect from me than he would if he made another Twitter statement. In all honesty, I thought the whole '100,000 National Guard members to help detain illegal immigrants' fiasco was self-leaked. It was 100% positive for Trump. It would allow him to (1) see what the public reaction of such a bold move would be, (2) prove that the MSM whines first and rarely fact-checks, and finally (3) come out and simply say "nope, didn't ever propose that" and watch as the MSM is publicly humiliated.

But regardless, I don't think that this was a leak by Trump, although most of the media seems to be already falling back into their old habits -- complaining about Trump paying more taxes in one year than most people will make in their entire lives... And also, revealing the big scandal that he, like everyone else, does not want to pay taxes that he's not legally required to pay... *gasp* The outrage of such a notion!

Are you assuming a certain pilot-to-jet ratio?

No, mainly because shoving more pilots into a single jet doesn't solve your problem. Eventually, the "good flyer" jets will have to go into phase inspections and the like (365/728). Plus, I'm pretty sure the stealth upkeep requires more time in the hangar per flight hour.

I heard the F-16 pipeline is getting backed up with all the drops lately. Are other FTU's getting backed up as well?

I've been doing the math for the F-22 pipeline (worst case scenario since production was cut early into its life). I've seen 1-2 raptors drop every ENJJPT class, plus one or two every so often from the other bases. There are only 186 Raptors, and assuming an optimistic "up jet" status of 80%... I see two lines converging very quickly. Maybe @11F could shed light on how backed up the F-22 pipeline is so that my pure speculation isn't taken as fact.

I am not amused by the GOP's Obamacare-lite shenanigans.

Well at least we don't "have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it... away from the fog of the controversy *insert menacing smile*" -Pelosi

Now she's saying "The American people and Members have a right to know the full impact of this legislation before any vote in Committee or by the whole House."

At least she's figured out that if you contradict yourself all the time, you're right at least half of the time! Big win.

You can still see a movie for $7? My theater is $19.95/ticket + $1.50 service charge and that's before they bend you over buying popcorn.

Yeah, screw that. Give them the finger behind their backs by buying cargo pants and smuggling in enough candy/popcorn/sodas for the whole family.

I'm not bashing on ENJJPT. It has its good and bad. In the past it was used as a shock absorber and a lot of guys got heavies out of there. Although billed as a fighter centric training, its feast or famine with respect for actually getting a fighter. Which sucks because a lot of good guys have gotten the shaft, while a lot of guys who wouldn't have gotten a fighter at any other base will get one at Sheppard all thanks to the flavor of the week at AFPC.

As far as the selection method, I can't speak to what exactly changed, but I was briefed that the weights had changed and the average student going through is not the same breakdown as 10 years ago.

What about a guard/reserve guy that gets picked up by a fighter unit? I personally know one guy that is being told to request Sheppard to get the "fighter-oriented" training, and obviously he's on board. Any opinion on whether or not that decision will help/hurt his chances at B-course? I know attitude is what makes or breaks someone, but just looking for opinions on B-course performance of ENJJPT guys vs guys who tracked T-38's from another base.
