Does anyone know anyone who flies for Prime Air? Amazon is notorious for paying poor wages and overworking employees. I’m certain this management philosophy will also impact flying for that company.

For now those planes are crewed by Atlas, ATI, and ABX, so no direct HR issues with Amazon management.  We'll see if Amazon has the appetite to actually run their own airline.

  2. Public Service Announcement:

If you use the militaryonesource HR Block software and want to pay taxes owed by credit card, don't pay at the link they give you.  Their link goes to Pay1040.com with a CC fee of 2.49%.  Instead go to Pay1040.com in a separate browser, enter the exact same information, and the fee is only 1.87%.  USAA Cash Back card pays 2.5%, so ya got that going for you, which is nice.

  3. 340 of actual FAR write-it-in-the-green-logbook aircraft moving flight time.

Paid for 850 hours = 510 hours of “soft time” which might be deadhead, premium trip/overtime pay, min day guarantees, reserve pilot guarantees (like a salary for reserve months), etc.

Only chumps get paid for just their block time.  The real money in the airline world is in getting paid to not fly.

would a majority of hours in a smaller multi-engine turboprop (MC-12, C-146 (Dornier 328), RC-26, etc...) likely not lead to being hired?

    No.

    How about the C-130?

They hire Herk guys but only while holding their nose and because they've run out of Thunderbird leads.  On the plus side they give them an extra sim to learn how to fly Mach.  😏

If you have the fixed wing hours and the AF-trained box checked on your app, the rest really doesn't matter.

I did not say Obama. I said Osama. As in bin Laden.

Ah, so terrorists and leftists agree on the importance of walls.  Interesting.

And if illegal crossers have the training and resources of DEVGRU, then I guess we better just give up now.

  6. When it works, non-rev sure makes the world a small place.  Wedding in Portland Saturday and lunch with a buddy in Times Square Sunday?  No problem.  Just got back from a wedding in a small NE town a couple hours ago.  Took some flexibility, but my only expense was parking.

It’s impossible to lose money by bringing in more income.

Completely false.  Taxes are much more nuanced than that blanket statement.  For example, many credits and deductions phase out at AGI and MAGI thresholds.  I qualified for the Saver's Credit most of my AD years.  Not so much anymore.

  8. Except 69% of legislative proposals are not meant to actually become law.  She makes her base smile when she taxes what they don't like and appears to fund what they do like.  Whether it's proposing a 70% income tax or a $20 porn tax, they're running their mouth for election points, not serious proposals.

I’ve heard they are looking for 65% retention, clearly that can’t be true bc they aernt even close and have done very little to adjust accordingly.

You give them too much credit.  They don't know which way is up right now.  Actually crafting an effective plan to reach their target retention numbers isn't even close to achievable.

Have you seen how those dudes land that thing?  Talk about doesn't fly like anything else!  What the hell kind of engineer thought it'd be a good idea to flare with power?!

  11. As long as you can answer any Why questions, it will not matter.  I had lots of breadth, less depth, and they let me sneak in.  They did ask about my bouncing around so much, so I told them how cool it was to fly all these different airplanes doing different missions.  They smiled, nodded, and moved on.
