  1. Not that I am aware of. We were told that our assignments would be given 3 years after finishing initial qualification. One would think they would group guys from every few months and make a drop. No word on locations either, but I wouldn't be surprised if future drops include location.
  2. The first round of UPD-D guys have gotten their follow on assignments, 16 in total at Creech. No location as of yet and they will start training in April of next year. 2x C-130J 1x B-52 3x C-17 1x CV-22 1x DO-328 2x C-5 1x KC-135 3x KC-10 1x RC-135 1x C-130
  3. 2. It sucks that the money will go away but its going to happen if not this year then next. The number I've heard is that AIP cost the AF $19 million a year. With as much as DoD needs to cut AIP is a easy kill. The busses are gone but they are doing a 15 pax van program, where if you have enough people using the van it ends up being nothing out of pocket. It's another option now that the bus is gone.
  4. I'm also a homebrewer. Just brewed a batch on Monday of an all grain winter beer. I plan on bottling it in 750mL bottles and handing them out around Christmas. I was surprised once I started talking to people about homebrewing how many in the Air Force do it. I buy all my supplies from Northern Brewer and the local homebrew shop.
  5. Don't think there is a crossfit club, nor am I sure that the gym has the standard crossfit equipment. There are a few crossfit gyms on the north side of town that are geared to Nellis/Creech people.
  6. These I feel pretty safe to answer these questions non sipr. -Chow hall is still open 4 meals a day. -Pool is open, and will be for a while. -The subway and BK have already gone away. Other things will be shutting down so QOL will be going down through the next year.
  7. Most of them do, you just have to call and ask. This is the official Nellis ITT website link that list most but not all of the local discounts.
  8. Don't live right around Nellis unless you have your conceal carry. It's possible to live on/close to the Strip but you will have a long commute. Summerlin is a really nice area but on the other side of Vegas. Your best bet would be the Aliante master plan community in North Las Vegas, 15-20 minutes to Nellis, new development, and lots of Nellis/Creech pilots live there. PM me if you have any other questions about the area.
  9. I also see more RPA only dudes deploying, especially if the AF truly wants to have RPA's 85% manned by RPA only guys by 2016. Otherwise the other 15% would be deploying all the time.
  10. Thread revival! Does anyone have a suggestions on where I could get a party shirt made in the Las Vegas area? I rather go to somebody whom I don't have to explain the concept too. Otherwise I will just find myself a tailor.
  11. I can answer your last question. Deployments are almost all LRE (the t/o and landing guys), 120 days each. Most go once per 3 year tour though many volunteer for more. Not sure if any of the RPA only guys have deployed as LRE yet or if the AF is planning to anytime soon.
  12. I also agree with some of his points. Do people who are deploying to a country that is going to host a World Cup deserve hostile fire pay? Probably not. I can also see prorating the various extra pay depending on the amount of time spent in theater. But the rest of his suggestions? Not so much. Imagine the bureaucratic nightmare that would happen if they had to determine what AFSCs at what bases earned CZTE/HFP. It would be more trouble than it’s worth.
  13. Alright. Reschedule the thing and hopefully my flying schedule will let me do the draft.
  14. Sure if we need to. Is that the final call? Do the draft on Thursday?
  15. I am ready for another year of football. Might actually win a few games this time around.
  16. I have been here a few months and went through the home buying process. Most of the Creech people live in either Aliante or Providence, which are around a 45-30 minute drive depending on how much you go over the speed limit. The areas around Nellis are sketch but if stick in the two areas I mentioned you should be good. There is a park and ride at 215 & 95 and the bus runs pretty often. Traffic does suck, especially if you are trying to get down to the strip. The housing market is still in the dirt. I bought a house for 131K that sold for 330K in 2006. PM for any Vegas house buying questions or for the name of a great Realtor. Creech itself looks like a deployed location but being able to live in Las Vegas isn't half bad.
  17. With all this talk about so few people washing out of Pred FTU what is the normal washout rate for other airframes? Has anybody not passed the KC-135, C-130, etc school houses in recent history? Besides IFF what post UPT training has the most people not make it?
  18. I believe all of the tracks have a few flights then a "checkride" after assignment night, but it is more to make sure you don't mail in the last two weeks of the program. I have heard of people washing out after assignment night but it's rare.
  19. I have done a batch of home brew. I got my kit from William's brewery and I used their honey wheat. It turned out surprisingly well and I plan doing many more once I finish my PCS. I haven't used this message board but I have heard it has a lot of great information; www.homebrewtalk.com.

  21. For those of you playing College Bowl Mania on ESPN.com I just created a BaseOps group. Search for BaseOps.net. Lets see if you guys who are currently beating me in the league are just as good as picking college games.
  22. I would say its less between those who get 100s and 98s and more between those who get 98s and 88s. I was by no means an academics superstar and that hurt me with the flight commander ranking. If your right in the middle of where the other guys then you are doing a ok. And don't think because you failed a test your dream of a -38 is over, in my class we had one guy who failed 1 test and another who failed 2 also get one. Not ideal but it can be done.
