Thanks for the censorship. Its nice to know that I am fighting to preserve the Constitution of the Great US of America, just not for myself or fellow comrades. The day there are zero sex crimes against women in the AF is the day there are no women in the AF. You think there were 7000 assaults back in the days of WWII when we had pin ups and sexy nose art on planes?
There is a culture in this country, of which the AF has many representatives from, that have issues with women and probably lead to assaults. You cannot fix that, no matter how many pictures you take away, how many books you burn, how many movies you ban from the base movie theater, how many TV channels you ban in the dorms, how many girly mags you ban from the BX or shoppette, how many DVDs you ban for sale or rental, how many radio stations you ban from our radios, how many youtube videos you block, how many Netflix titles you delete from our queues, how many bikinis you cover up at the pool, how many low-cut shirts you cover up while we walk in the mall, how many short skirts you lenthen at the pub, how many cheerleaders you remove from all the colleges, or how many movie stars and musicians you kick out of Hollywood.

At a recent convention in a southern cali town, the MAF A1 said something about continuation if you have 15 years in, which sounds like either a Maj passed over or a prior E Capt passed over. I didn't take notes and I don't have slides, but that is my hazy recollection. Perhaps calling the A1 peeps and asking that specific question may yield a better answer.

I'm not a big fan of Lincoln (the man, not the movie) myself.
Suspending Habeus Corpus, imprisoning those that spoke out against him, freeing the slaves in the South while still allowing some Northern states to carry on, extensive land grants to the railroads, placing judges on house arrest when they ruled against him, etc.
He wasn't the saint Hollywood makes him out to be.

So everyone has to boil this down to raking leaves? The more common example of landscaping "perk" I've seen is where the base housing office has contracted with the base landscaper and has the generals yards taken care of as part of their housing allowance, because it is a quite bit higher than ours and can probably cover the expense of heating that old home and cutting the grass. How about a Lt Col that "runs" the house? Yep, seen that. How about the aide that takes the Mrs on all her errands because "she doesn't like to drive?" Seen that. And then there are the Gens that treat their aides like living dog shit. Heard about that. These are some of the bigger abuses and there isn't much anyone can do about it. The activities of these people are hidden under specifically authorized titles like aides and other craftly termed titles that deflect scruitiny, except for "cook."
Now I've got to go make some big important decisions while the cook makes me a sandwitch.

Don't worry, Hostess will be back after everyone is let go. That or some other corporation will buy the name and recipes and start the brand back up. We'll go without Twinkies, or Ho-Ho's, or Wonderbread for 6-12 months, but I they won't be gone forever... there's value in that brand ($2.5B a year in sales) and someone will snatch it up.
Sucks that the executives let Hostess get into a position that they had to make such demands on the union workers (8% pay cut and 32% reduction in benefits) and conversely the union* didn't compromise.
*all of the other unions involved agreed to the concession... the baker's union was the last hold out.
Playing chicken with your livelihood is a blast. I guess all those meany executives showed them, proper f u c k e d.

I gently stocked up before the election. My hope is that others stocked up as well and don't buy much for the next month or so, which hopefully sends the message to suppliers that they can lower their prices. But we all know that if prices were the same we would be buying like crazy. If you make, distribute, or sell ammo and mags, business is good. Nothing like a little fear to generate sales.
