Let's not kid ourselves...If Howard wasn't in this situation, we'd be tripping over ourselves to say that his sponsor was what was right in the AF. Before anyone starts, I am a true believer in second chances, but dudes need to understand why leadership is reluctant sometimes to take action. As much as it sucks, its called "Indicators" for a reason.

Plus, when have we ever held sponsors accountable for their people?

Just my $0.02, but you want Commanders to keep sticking their necks out to advocate for their Airmen (again true believer). Having sponsors go "down with the ship" would make it tougher to Commanders to be willing to do so. Don't blame them, blame the person at fault.

    Drops they are a changing.

Copy on changing drops. But from what I had seen from the T-38/EN side of the house were more tactical heavies, i.e. C-130s, C-17s, MC-130s. There might have been the odd KC-135 in the past, it's just the RC-135 stood out.

Hope the newb enjoys it. Omaha's not a horrible place to live...provided you stay west of the river.

i would like to believe your good leader data point isn't a deviation from the avg so far off the chart it's in the next room...

Like I said, it's a data point. Hopefully current and future generations can adjust the mean closer to it.

leather jackets are expensive. and they're made of animals. you can be sure this is causing much hand-wringing and consternation among shoe clerks.

of course they won't be around much longer.

Don't kid yourself. The A2 is cheaper than the NOMEX jacket.

Leadership datapoint: During the last sequestration in 2013, my squadron was handing out the A2 like candy to all the pipeline Airmen (well short of the 36 mos required by AFI). The brand new Airmen weren't getting issued jackets through pipeline training with winter approaching.

The Wg enlisted leadership lost it's mind but when the issue was brought up, my boss had already prepped the OG (and he the WG) on the justification. It was a polite conversation, but his response boiled down to "Noted" and he kept issuing A2 jackets to the Airmen. That's not the only reason he made BTZ, but was indicative of his overall leadership.

That's some fascinating insight into how AFPC views the rated exodus.

The counselor at AFPC doesn't have a clue, really, as to why someone got passed over. All they do is compare your record against 10 promoted records. I want to say they are close to the cut line, but I'm not a confident in that assumption. What did that they have that yours didn't? That's it. They don't get access to any notes and they don't have any insight into what the board members were thinking. Its a guessing game. FWIW, after the reduced promotions in 2014, they've used the increased number of stronger APZ records getting promoted as an excuse for the decreased IPZ chances.

Regardless, don't invest your ego in the rank you wear on your shoulder. Bust your ass, do the job well, provide officership to best of your ability, and let the chips fall where they may. Whether or not you get promoted, you'll be a lot happier for it.

Seriously dude, WTF!? You've got zero street cred to support your personal beef with Azimuth. He's given some value-added posts on this forums, and right or wrong, he's already served his punishment for his past actions.

Move on and stop the insanity. Lets act like the professionals we are instead of a bunch of passive/aggressive, bitch-ass teenagers.

Stratification within your rank is first tier, CGO/FGO/year group/duty position are all inferior strats. #1/50 Capts is better than #1/100 CGOs (unless you're getting this as a Lt) and better than #1/100 IPs

    1 hour ago, Duck said:

Not to get into this argument again, but not all SRs agree with that. My base doesn't even give out strats based on rank (#1 Capt, Maj, etc) but only CGO, FGO, job strats (ADO, Flt/CC) and finally IP strats.

You're both right and wrong...it depends.

I've seen Sq/OG/Wg strats of all flavors that were far removed from reality and had given the officer in question a incorrect sense of accomplishment.

The other side of the coin is the #1 CGO (out of several hundred) was a Group Weapon Officer, who also locked up the #1 IP strat at the OG, and held them both for quite awhile.

You could argue that both #1's going to the same person is unfair, or that it accurately reflected his shred out when compared to his peers.

IMO, the problem with the strat process, in the AF as a whole, is a lack of transparency. I'm not saying its nefarious as Commander's schedules are busy and they might not always have the ability to speak to officers on why Capt Snuffy got X and you got Y strats. If you have questions, make the effort to make an appointment and ask the boss. Strive for the honest feedback and put yourself in his shoes and do an honest comparison against your peers. Ask questions from that point of view. Find out what factors (both subjective and objective) are important to your boss, your boss's boss, etc and how you improve.

  8. Pin on won't start before January regardless, no?
That said, it would be nice to know which pile my PRF was in sooner than June.

A buddy in the current crop of O-5 selects said the line numbers were just reduced starting in July...the month he was progged to pin on. Probably drawing it out to Jan 18.

June (ish) is the standard for the past few years for public release dates.

there is nothing wrong with your Air Force.

Dude, after you said that, your credibility was shot. At a minimum, what about the looming pilot shortage? Yeah we'll get through it with some bumps and bruises, but I wouldn't classify it as "nothing wrong". Start crafting intellectually honest arguments. Figure out how to get steely-eyed killers to stay in...that's leadership.

To quote Richard Branson "Train people well enough that they can leave, treat them well enough that they don't want to."

What's the demographic here, cuz it sure as shit aint Pilot/Nav/ABM AFSC.

Why don't you let Sq/CCs be in charge for a change?

     Sockpuppet.

Your satire is on a level of Andy Kaufman if not more so. You need to stop 'cuz the train has left the fvcking rails. Young, impressionable cadets and Lts don't realize you're using a reductio ad absurdum argument style.

If it isn't satire and you 100% believe what you post, then you need to take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror and get your priorities revectored. I don't think the Commissars of the Red Army drank that much kool-aid.

Our military is the greatest, not because of the equipment, but because of the people...they WANT to be here. Compare present-day vs conscript (draft) heavy days of 'Nam. 180 degrees out from each other. To echo @pawnman and others, when is enough enough? I'd argue that zero time is enough in that no citizen currently is forced to serve. The 4-yr ADSC for new non-rated Os and 4-yr enlistment is to get payback on an investment in training. As soon as they raise the hand and swear an oath, they've done more than 90% of their fellow countrymen. Fvcking Stop with the patriot bullshit argument; it's academically lazy. Most dudes on this board have had bros give it all for the Flag, or have had to stand in formation as the family watched their loved one be ceremoniously transferred off the jet at Dover. The patriotism angle has already be satisfied...move on.

My challenge to you still stands; join the RPA force as a 18X Pilot. Pay your dues on the line and then maybe (doubtful) catch a clue. Your post history leads me to believe you couldn't lead a wet sack of dog shit, let alone a group of Airmen.

What happened to her potential run for Mayor of NYC?

I think that's just a masturbatory fantasy for a few on the left. Her access as mayor would be smaller and I don't see the same level of big-money backers propping her up. She doesn't have enough personal wealth from her shut down ponzi scheme to fund a serious mayoral run. Anthony Weiner's campaign was only as successful as it was because of his connections to her. Now that her balloon's popped, she doesn't have the power, influence, or money to make it happen.

I thought maybe as a Representative in up-sate NY might work. It's out of the spotlight enough she might get the Dem party nod, but I think Chelsea's where the remaining Clinton-name capital will be spent. She still has the "potential".

    19 hours ago, ViperMan said:

Don't think for 2 seconds you've seen the last of the Clintons - there's still Chelsea. I predict you'll see her begin to move around the chess board here shortly.

No one is as driven as Hillary, so Chelsea can't match her determination and get over  the burden of being a Clinton. Added with ability to be less charismatic than her mother doesn't bode well for her. Lower-house back-bencher is about all she'll accomplish.

    But I've been wrong before...

With money left over in the Clinton Foundation and an unopposed run for a New York Congressional seat, there is a possibility of the virus Clinton 3.0.

While she could win the seat, what kind of influence would Hillary legitimately have in Congress? Chelsea on the other hand could, but I've seen nothing from her indicating she even has the ability to govern.
