  1. Anyone willing to help edit the Little Rock C-130 FTU Page? See above...
  2. Fellas, thanks for the help. Please keep the edits coming - I will send out Baseops.net Neck Lanyards (Black and Silver) to anyone that contributes; please PM me your mailing address... Still looking for a fine-toothed comb redo of the Little Rock 130 Schoolhouse, specifically: 1.) How many different syllabi are there for Pilots, and what are their differences 2.) How many sim rides and how many pro sorties/tac sorties prior to check 3.) Any other significant differences in the flow of the course and/or pre-requisites that must be done prior to arriving 4.) Lodging issues / changes to regulations (on or off-base, etc.) Thanks in advance!
  3. Thanks for helping to contribute. I know it is a pain in the ass to edit documents - sounds almost like work! But without your support, we can't keep the site current and able to assist future aviators behind us.
  4. You will need to open two instances of the forums (two separate windows) and then view both simultaneously.
  5. I have just installed a trial version of the Chat Module into the forums - you can see the option now available in the top menu, on the far right (next to DOWNLOADS). It is fully integrated (same username/password, etc.) - you never have to actually leave the forums. The single limitation right now is that a maximum of five (5) persons can be active in the chat room at once. You can see how many are active at the very bottom of the forums, right below where it says "Currently XX Users Online" it will say "Currently XX Users on Chat". If this module proves popular and members recommend, I can increase the online chat users number - it is simply an additional cost and will be seamless. However, as a trade-off, I respectfully request the users of the forums assist me in updating several out-of-date sections of the site: 1.) C-130 Schoolhouse at Little Rock 2.) AFOQT 3.) UPT Phase II (T-6) I've uploaded word document versions of the above three webpages and ask that users edit those documents (please indicate changes in RED FONT) and re-post the attachments on this thread. Thanks in advance and I look forward to a current website and a popular chatroom. v/r BASEOPS Baseops - Little Rock AFB Schoolhouse Guide.doc Baseops - AFOQT.doc Baseops - Phase II T-6.doc
  6. All templates are capable of using template tags, and as such when you edit any type of template, there will be a "template tag help" link. Clicking this produces a sidebar (there is then a link in the sidebar to open a separate popup) that details all of the template tags you can insert to include IP.Content data within your template. However, with database and article templates, there are additional variables that are passed into the template to allow it to manipulate and display the HTML that represents the content. For instance, different data is retrieved and available when you are looking at a list of articles compared to when you are viewing a single article. You need to know what these variables are in order to be able to properly modify the template to display data in the manner you want, and as such, a template variable help popup is available that will detail the variables available for each template type. When you are editing a template, click on "template variable help" and a new window opens displaying the variables you can expect to be available to the template with a short description of each variable. If you get stuck, this help window can help shed some light on the variables that are available, what values they should contain, and how you can use these variables to your advantage to build a more dynamic and useful interface for your database.
  7. With IP.Content 2.0, articles and custom databases can now mirror a topic to the forums when a new article or database record is submitted. In doing so, IP.Content can also utilize that automatically-generated topic as the comment "storage" for the article or record. When a comment is submitted to the article, the comment is actually stored as a reply to the topic. Similarly, replies made directly to the topic in the forum also show up as comments for the record. This new functionality can be enabled at a per-database and per-category level. You can specify separate forums for each category in your article section, for instance, or you can turn off forum commenting for a specific category, while enabling it for all others. A few additional configuration options, such as allowing you to automatically remove the topic when the record is removed, and specifying a prefix and/or suffix for the topic title so that your users can more easily identify that such topics were stemmed from the articles section help round out the feature, giving you better control over how these automatically posted topics are handled. These new forum cross-posting capabilities allow the administrator to better tie in articles with the forums, giving you better opportunities to expose your content to a wider audience. Additionally, forum management of comments provides for easier maintenance and stronger managerial options of the comments, utilizing IP.Board's powerful, proven feature set.
  8. The media module in the IP.Content 2.0 ACP section allows you to quickly and easily manage multimedia files you may need to use with IP.Content. While you can certainly upload your files through FTP, or link to offsite files, you may find it easier to upload the files using the media section of the ACP, and then copy the links for use within pages, templates, and blocks. From within the media module, you can create folders, upload files, move files and folders, rename files and folders, and delete files and folders. Files can be listed and you can click on a file to view it (or right click on the file to copy the link). This simple tool can be a timesaver when you simply need to upload an image quickly for use within a page template. The media folder is defined in the media_path.php file in your forum root directory, giving you the freedom to move and organize your paths as needed.
  9. In IP.Content 2.0, you will notice that there are 3 separate template sections of the ACP: Page Templates Database Templates Article Templates In IP.Content 1.x, database and page templates were combined into a single "Templates" section, which worked fine for our original intentions. However, with the introduction of a separate Articles module, and additional template types related to the articles module, we decided to separate the templates so that each template type is displayed separately. This should help finding and editing your templates easier in practice, as you will be able to filter the template types and work with fewer at a time. Within each templates section, you can create containers to group your templates into logical groupings. For instance, you may wish to create a grouping for each database you create, and then place the database templates appropriately into the container representing the database itself. Or you may wish to create multiple front page templates, and group them all together in the article templates area. You can use containers for whatever purposes you may have, or not at all: it's up to you! Templates can be reordered by dragging and dropping the rows up and down, and they can be moved from one container to another via drag n drop as well. Certain meta data about the templates are stored when you create new database or article templates, allowing IP.Content to tailor other areas of the ACP to help you out. For example, in IP.Content 1.x the software did not "remember" what kind of database template you were creating, so all database templates were presented in each of the dropdowns when creating or editing a database. Beginning with IP.Content 2.x, the software stores the template type when you create a new template. This allows us to show only "category listing" templates in the "category listing template" selection dropdowns. Similarly, the template tag help popup can automatically know which template type you are editing without you having to specify. Properly making use of templates can help you push out pages on your site in a uniform manner quickly and easily, and without having to "reinvent the wheel" each time a new page is ready to be published.

    Page Management

The page management module interface has been overhauled for IP.Content 2.0 to make it easier to manage your pages in the ACP. Firstly, the folder navigation utilizes AJAX to load the folder contents inline without requiring you to visit a new page to view the contents of the folder. We found that folder navigation was a slow process, especially when working with many files and folders, so we wanted to speed up the interaction with the software in this particular area. We have also updated some common management features to utilize AJAX to help facilitate management of your pages. Actions like clearing folders and deleting folders, for instance, will now occur without page refreshes, making your managerial activities flow smoother and quicker. Additionally, the interface as a whole has been updated to provide a nicer, smoother feel for the page management areas. In practice, we found that many administrators spend the majority of their time setting up and utilizing IP.Content in the page management areas, so we wanted to update the user interface to make this experience as easy and enjoyable as possible. Minor details like confirmation dialogs have been updated to bring everything together for a more consistent feel. A new filter bar, utilizing AJAX to retrieve the results without the need for a page refresh, has also been added to the page management area. You can begin typing in the name of a page and a live-search action will occur in the background, showing you the results of your search as you type. If you have many pages and many folders (and many pages within those many folders), you will find that using the filter bar to locate your pages can dramatically speed up your navigation of IP.Content within the page management areas of the ACP. Overall, we've modernized the IP.Content page management area of the ACP, polishing up the little details, in an effort to make your experience all the more pleasant.
  11. I can certainly accomodate. A while back, we had a chat room feature available on baseops - albeit a crude one and not very aesthetically pleasing. There is a module that is available that is fully compatible with this forum's software backend (Invision Power Board) that I can purchase and plug-in. I will do so shortly - but in the meantime, I will request help in editing a few portions of the site that I am no longer a SME in that need some desperate attention. If I can have a few "humanitarian" aviators out there help me out, I will install the chat option. I will post details on the sections I am soliciting volunteer help shortly. Thanks in advance!
  12. OK fellas - we've done some work on the servers. Over the past long weekend many upgrades were installed/tweaked. Please let me know if: 1.) you experience any new or recurring old problems 2.) you find the baseops experience any speedier or more efficient v/r BASEOPS
  13. I saw that it was inop and fixed it last night (1/14/10). It reverted to an inop setting when the server blinked... Should be working now - if not let me know.
  14. Sorry guys - working the issue right now. It's been a challenge trying to synch up the server-side support guys along with the forums software support guys. Maybe I'm not paying them enough? Bear with me and we'll get this thing fixed and speedier.
  15. Not sure about this one Steve... been working through another database issue this evening - but seems to be resolved as of this post.
  16. That is precisely why I stopped posting T-6 gouge on the Baseops.net site (lots of angry student pilot mobs burning effigies of Baseops when the BF became out of date...) Things were never constant for that plane - being so new, seems like the Dash-1 is constantly being revised...
  17. Sorry guys - we are working on the forums errors right now. We'll be upgrading the host hardware shortly..

Thanks for the heads up - the permissions for this feature defaulted to zero. I just allowed for "Reputation Points" to be used by Registered Members - and the quota increases for Super and Supreme Users.
  19. This past weekend I attended the AOPA Summit in Tampa. I saw the list of forum topics and had eyed a few that I wanted to attend - however, in the end I spent all of my time in the exhibit hall. The summit was nicely put together and the Tampa Convention Center was a great (upscale) venue to hold this event. The exhibit hall was gigantic and had the usual booths such as Sportys, Pilot Mall, Garmin, Jepp, ERAU, etc. Additionally, the FAA was well represented - I spoke at length with the folks at the FAA Safety booth (www.faasafety.gov). Here I was shown (in detail) all of the features of their new website with a ton of information, bulletins, self-study topics, and more. I was searching for material/sources of safety information for the Aviation e-Newsletter that I am trying to kick off, and I think I found quite a bit here. I also spoke with Mr. Steve Smith (former AFSOC pilot) at the FAA Sunway Safety Booth (separate from the FAASafety booth) that was dedicated specifically to runway safety, preventing runway incursions, etc. I saw one particular product from a small vendor that captured my attention - it was the flight bag that is made by Brightline Bags (www.brightlinebags.com) - this is a great product that is just the right size, has plenty of separate compartments / dividers, and seems rugged enough to last. It has a separate compartment that will fit 2x Dave Clarks (or perhaps 1x NVGs). Also, the pubs compartment is perfectly sized to fit sectionals / high or low charts without having to crinkle them or bend them. And the bag's two sections actually zip-apart into two separate bags (if you don't need to carry all the pubs for instance). In the near future, look for the 1st issue of our Aviation e-Newsletter.
  20. Wiki is now Alpha-1. Thanks for letting me know there was a problem.
  21. Working on this right now. Trouble ticket submitted.
  22. Thanks for finding the spam links -- they have been removed. You do not have edit rights because you are a "New User" -- after several posts, you will become a "Registered User" and receive rights to most of the site... NOTE: some of the formating of the wiki has changed in this latest forums upgrade (font size, carriage returns, etc.) -- we will have to comb through and edit these ourselves...
  23. Allright folks, the Wiki section is Alpha-1 now - if you are logged on to the forums, you have immediate access to the wiki as an editor. Please continue to contribute and police the data on there. LINK TO BASEOPS WIKI
  24. Just wanted to shoot out a quick update to keep you all informed as to the latest warp-speed changes going on here at the Baseops Network. If you are a frequenter of these forums, you probably noticed we upgraded/changed our forums software. We now are running the latest (and greatest?) version of Invision Power Board. There were a few growing pains / glitches in the transition. Unfotunately, it was bad timing when I chose the same few days to upgrade the forums as well as stand up the new website (next bullet below). The forums seem to be up and running properly - albeit with a few differenences (such as external links not opening a new window, etc.) MTF.I've been working on transitioning the Aviation Jobs listings from the baseops.net site to a new site (with more features) since late April 2009. We finally flung opne the doors to the new site last week: www.guardreservejobs.com -- we moved all of the existing baseops.net jobs to this site which is running a completely brand new "engine". This site, with its robust database back-end, offers similar features that job portals like Monster.com offer such as a searchable database; filters to find the exact job you are looking for; employers post their job vacancies direct (and have full-control over their listings); job seekers can create free accounts, save their searches, and even upload resumes. Check it out!Unfortunately when we upgraded the Forums to the latest software, it became instantaneously incompatible with the Baseops Wiki section thus for a few days actually forcing the Baseops Wiki (TDY Gouge) off-line. Well, I was able to resurrect the Wiki and you can now access it again, although it is read-only (you cannot edit it) at this time. Pending a patch from the folks at IPBWiki... MTF.We finally resolved a forums bandwidth issue around noon today (eastern time) -- looks like the forums have become so popular that we have succeeded in busting through the 100GB (per month) cap! I have upped the bandwidth cap and look forward to doubling or tripling that bandwidth soon with the support of our loyal users.I'd like to see more photos posted in the online gallery - looks like you crew dogs are slacking out there. I also hope to see more links to UPT videos and other morale boosters and sources of pure comedy.Keep the gouge and updates coming - I will post anything you submit along with your name/unit/class patch as a "thank you".v/r baseops
  25. The movers are fully responsible and should/will pay - you should have received the contact number to the "TMO Inspector" -- their QA-type representative. This person holds the movers accountable. My last two PCSs (including last year), the rep actually showed up at my house to oversee the movers briefly and answer any of my questions... Either way, contact TMO and have their QA person show up, take photos, get truck driver's card/name, etc. Will probably be a long process (as all Gov administrivia is), but they should pay for the repairs. BTW, where you moving to? A nice retirement home in THE VILLAGES?
