  1. Collecting full retirement pay and with no other administrative action.
  2. Fair enough. My point stands...this guy's obviously a good pilot, it's obvious that he was very lucky to escape this incident with no more than minor scrapes and bruises, and the first thing Sky_King thinks of is his accent.
  3. Nah. I bet his English AND his Spanish are both better than your Portugese.
  4. He's Brazilian. I bet his English is better than your Spanish.
  5. Only if the POTUS gets an unfavorable post.
  6. True, but I could also have a printer that works instead of waiting for end of year funds and hoping that my boss doesn't buy 6 more Smartboards we won't use. Or maybe parts for my jet instead of GPS watches for everyone in the squadron.
  7. I've never had it NOT work in our jet. In over 100 air refuelings. Or you could jot it down on your kneeboard when you are told what aircraft you're going to at step time. Just saying, the option is there.
  8. Pardon my ignorance in the fighter side of things...but if you are that worried about passing tail numbers over the radios, why don't you just do it on boom interphone? I know we've had many, many conversations in our jet about not garbaging the radios and passing the tail numbers once you're getting gas.
  9. They must be thinking of that pilot continuation bonus after your commitment is up...you know, the ones pilots and ABMs get, but they stopped giving to Navs while I was in flight school?
  10. If only our own Senators were so open and transparent, eh?
  11. That would be hazardous duty pay. Not Aviation Career Incentive Pay.
  12. My favorite is when we call for that left turn, and the tanker turns right...towards the Pakistan border.
  13. That alll checks. We'll make a call to the tanker 15 min prior, with the weapons and expendables safed up, radar on until about a mile or so (or whenever the pilots up front are ready to take the rejoin from the WSOs). But we will tell that to the tanker..."Switches safed, nose hot for the rejoin".
  14. I feel the same about the standard "PCS medals". If the guy was doing good enough work to earn a medal, why wait until he PCSs to give it to him? And if his work doesn't merit a medal, why are we giving him one just because he's leaving the base?
  15. Hanging out at the chow hall and the gym, probably.
  16. No, the USMC took over from the Brits back in about the Oct timeframe. Don't remember off the top of my head what the new callsign was...but the Marines definitely weren't as good as the Brits.
  17. Miser no longer exists, and Bankroll is pretty well useless now too. It's like their whole goal in life is to keep me away from my tanker.
  18. No. And noted on the 746 EAS...no slight intended. Just seems like the sort of OPR-bullet crap that people pull out here. Just like the finance airman who set up my Eagle Cash Card will no doubt list on his EPR that he directly enabled xx sorties with yy hours of vul by setting that up for me...despite the fact that it only seemed to work half the time.
  19. It hasn't, really. Although while stationed in TX, my family's lack of religious convictions was a consistent, though small, thorn in my side. Every person we met invariably started a conversation with "My name's Bill, what church do you belong to? Oh, you don't have a church, you should try mine!" Got old after awhile having that conversation with everyone you meet...but that was largely out on town, not nearly so much in the squadron. I have honestly never had a problem working with someone in the squadron because of their beliefs or my own lack of them. I've had some good discussions about religion, but all in the same way you might debate politics, or USAF policies, or any of a hundred other things that get debated on a daily basis.
  20. Probably because several of the Herc crews rotated through there on the way to Afghanistan...so now the Deid can claim credit for everything they do downrange.
  21. The joke almost writes itself...takes the challenge right out of it.
  22. Only in the bunkers...so the rumors go.
  23. Not if the Qatari general doesn't sign the order. The rumor is, they don't even bring the beer over from the states, they get it from a downtown distributor. Probably the same distributor who supplies it to the international hotels.
  24. And now Felix Baumgartner is trying to break Joe's record. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyGmTV0q2kY Did Col Kittinger break the sound barrier? The promo clip is trying to claim that Felix will attempt to be the first to go supersonic without an aircraft.
  25. Latest REMF story... So, buddy of mine was at the caddy, changing out of his flight suit and into PT gear. While he IS IN THE MIDDLE OF CHANGING, some SSgt REMFs him for having on a tan shirt and PT shorts...because that's an unauthorized uniform combo. Buddy's response was an uncreative, but effective, "I don't f$%&ing care". Said SSgt goes on to REMF 2 other people in the caddy, for the same thing. On a somewhat related note, I was turned away from a caddy so that a DD and his minions could repaint over the "graffiti". That paint won't even be dry before the next person writes something on the wall. Are these people really so clueless as to think you can corral thousands of military men together, and believe that they WON'T write dirty limericks and phone numbers on the stall doors? Wait, I think I answered my own question there.
