Anybody have current gouge on lodging for the tanker bubba's? ACs have their own room while co's and booms bunk up?

Who would you talk to if you were interested in doing that?

I'm a Guard guy that has volunteered for the MC-12. Curious if anyone knew what kind of living arrangements we have downrange (2-5 to a room, showers and restroom a short walk). Last time I was at KAF with the C-27, we were in the mods south of the Niagra. Pilots from my unit are going to one location and the loads, now SOs, are going to another. Thanks.

Lloyd, just to clarify, there are days available for Guard/Reserve members at non-associated tanker units to go TDY to the AOR?

Hook 'em all, just for clarification, Guard units that have an associate unit are able to send there Guard pilots/booms on voluntary TDYs? I guess my confusion comes from this being a cost savings initiative. Even if they are an associate unit, the Guard is still out zero dollars and AMC is footing the bill for them to go right?

Since they are talking about turning the air bridge money back on, any talks of letting the Guard/Reserve deploy with the active duty again?

LT4Life, I was told by a UPT bud of mine that you have to share a room at Manas. Is that correct? How slow is the tempo, one flight a week?

Any current information on Manas? I'll be going over in Oct-Nov timeframe. What is billeting like? Ops tempo? Internet/AFN available? Thanks.

The only real pain of being in the tanker is an archaic, Cold War era, study/practice that must be reviewed quarterly. Not sure if the -10 guys have stay current on this or not. The -135 is flying into Afghanistan and doing aeromedical evac. I'm a young co-pilot that hasn't gone over yet but I was sitting around talking with some of the older guys in the squadron today and they were talking about how they would offload fuel into the KC-10 rather than just dumping, err, adjusting gross weight, when receievers cancel.

135ASELECT, do you mean active duty Air Force is wholly taking over or just taking over from the Army? Originally I heard this would be a Guard mission and then it sounded like Gates was taking it away and it was going to be AD. What are the bases that are supposedly in the front running for the school house? One last question, where did you hear that the schools would be in place by fall of 2009? It was my understanding the Army has two of these aircraft and the Air Force won't actually get a substantial amount of aircraft until 2012 or so.

Does anyone have any current experience with Altus AFB lodging? I'm Guard so this will not be an enroute TDY. My wife and I are trying to figure out if we will be able to take our dogs to Altus with us? We have two 50lb labs. We were told on-base TLF is not possible. Would our only option be renting a house off-base? Do most people just leave their pets with relatives for the 4 months?

Has anyone heard of a Guard bum attaching to an AD unit for an extended deployment? I thought I heard at one time where a someone PCSed to McConnell or Fairchild and stayed on AD orders for a year or two. Is this still an option?

This is all hypothetical at this point as my wife and I are not sure she is pregnant yet, but I start pilot training in August and would go into Tricare Prime then, would her maternity costs be covered since she would be pregnant before going on coverage? I had a friend who had trouble getting insurance to pay for the costs since he wasn't covered before his wife became pregnant, that is why I ask. I couldn't find any clauses for coverage, just curious if anyone knew.

M2, that article is dated from 2001. Any idea of whether the ban held up? Down in Meridian, (Not NAS) but Key Field, there are plently of Confederate battle flags on trucks. No such ban here.
