  1. I obviously wasn’t there, but there are only a few people that should have been able to take that video… and they are all crew members. Somehow that video subsequently ended up on the internet. The crew did an absolutely amazing job in a terrible situation… and then one of them acted like an idiot and shared a video with their buddies/the internet. If I were in their leadership chain I would want to kick their stupid ass as well.
  2. Here is one for you guys. Apparently the ANG does not authorize rental cars at L.R. even though the Student Guide specifically states that due to Base Transportation's high workload, students should be given a rental car during the flight line phase. In light of this I asked our WG Training manager if the WG will reimburse taxi fares to and from the squadron (I know, a horribly painful and hardly possibly option, but we're trying to make a point here). Her response, I shit you not: "its less than 2 miles from the dorms to the flying squadrons so we don't reimburse you for that, our suggestion is to find a buddy." I guarantee that idiot hasn't walked two miles in an entire career's worth of TDY's... Anyway, has anyone (ANG) had recent success getting a car approved for the flying phase? I realize that most people will have a personal car to drive but that isn't always possible for everyone.
  3. http://www.adn.com/2010/07/30/1388455/military-identifies-c-17-crewmen.html Rest in peace my friends and brothers.
  4. I agree, I am much more likely to download something in the $.99 - $1.99 range than $2 and up. Logically it doesn't make much sense, but that is the magic price point that clicks in my (and many others on itunes) head. I think you will sell more than 3 times the $.99 apps then you will at $2.99, thus getting more money in the long run. Another thing to consider is to start off selling it at $.99 for a month or so and once it becomes popular with the crew dogs increase the price for the rest of the people that are jumping on the bandwagon. I will definitely buy it for $.99, not sure about $2.99.
  5. What is the aft limit for Probe and Drogue AR? you got her on the glove thing though...
  6. Been a while since I have been to the AOR, so is it standard at most of the bases to not sanitize your bags or any of that fun stuff anymore? And that's great about the 3 girls getting to fly together...
  7. I will second the "GO ANG" route. Since you mentioned UCLA I assume you are near LA, there are at least a couple of units in the area. I don't know much about California so you can check out the exact spots for yourself @ goang.com. I was in a similar boat as you 10 years ago, college was fun but I lacked the motivation to apply myself. I enlisted in the guard, got my degree (paid for by the ANG) and got to work an awsome job in the process. Not to mention the fact that if you get into a flying unit (obviously highly recomended but not required) you will be hanging out with the dudes who will be hiring you in a few years. They will see how hard you have worked, you dedication, etc and it will undoubtedly reflect when the hiring board makes a decision. As far as enlisting AD, I know a couple of guys from UPT that were prior A.D. Enlisted and they definitely had a more difficult time getting to OTS/UPT than ROTC or Zoo guys. Having said that, they are at UPT so it isn't impossible. One final thing to think about is that you can always join, spend the minimum (4-6 years) and then try and find a guard unit to apply to if the active duty route isn't working out. Bottom line is that if you are willing to work hard enough (as many of the dudes on here can tell you from their experiences) nothing is impossible in the Air Force. If you want to be a pilot bad enough you won't go wrong with any of your options, therefore if gaining some maturity and finding a different path for your life as an airman is what you think you need, go for it.
  8. I concour on the B. Western. It's within 5 minutes of the front gate, free wireless internet, breakfast etc. The rooms are just as nice as most billetting rooms and its close enough that you can cruise to the base anytime you want. I was only there for ~2 months last time and am going to be there soon for -135 CIQ (or whatever it is now called). Will they leave you off base for the whole 4-5 months or will they make the long-term people stay on base? And "2" on the Hyatt in Tumon, spent 13 days there a few years ago. If you can get over the feeling that you are actually in Japan you can definitely live the high life there! Only hotel I've ever stayed at where you could watch the surf from the john
