  1. I disagree with both points, especially the latter.

We absolutely need a strategic reserve of trained and equipped forces to support the active duty in a time of war.

I too, disagree with the latter point, it was meant as sarcasm. [humor]Only a douchebag could have missed it.

    [/humor]

However, I do believe active duty is coming for ARC iron, I see the push every day. The “operational reserves” is the new norm, and it comes at the expense of the strategic reserve. TFI units are the future and the ARC assets will be used up at an active duty pace. The Air Force needs new toys, and the ARC has them.

I hope we can recap the active force without destroying our strategic reserve.

  2. This...

It was all Walmart had. I am going to try something else...

    Cheers! M2

I won't say that that stuff is junk, but I've had better luck with Remington Gold or Remington Thunderbolts. The boxes of loose ammo or the buckets seem to have more feeding problems, I've had them bend on me too.

    Got to love .22's.

As far a the range problems, luckily my buddy has a farm with some plinking targets, so when I take the kid, there are no other morons around to try and kill us. Great way to spend a few hours.

  3. I read this article last week and noticed it doesn't look like the HC/MC-130J and future AC-130J is coming from the -30 "stretch" line, but the same as the Coast Guard's HC-130J and Marine's KC-130J.

Lockheed reveals USAF's first HC-130J tanker By Craig Hoyle

The US Air Force will take delivery of its first HC-130J combat rescue tanker later this year, with the aircraft having emerged at Lockheed Martin's Marietta production plant in Georgia on 3 April. Pictured leaving the main assembly building ahead of painting, the aircraft will soon enter production flight testing, says Lockheed. "The HC-130J will meet an initial operating capability date in mid-2012," it adds.

The USAF's Air Combat Command has ordered its first two of a planned 18 HC-130Js, and will also acquire 26 MC-130J tankers, as listed in Flightglobal's MiliCAS database. Lockheed began assembly work on the first HC-130J last October, with the aircraft intended to support future search and rescue operations by the USAF. With an increased maximum take-off weight of over 74t, the variant also features an improved wing design.

Any ideas on what there going to name it?

    HC-130J - "King II"

    MC-130J - "Shadow II/Talon III"

    AC-130J - "Spectre II/Spooky III"

So is the AC-130J going to be a stretch or a stubby? 15 ft more fuselage means more guns.

  4. About the only problems we had was one shell extractor failure and several failure to feeds. Several rounds were actually bent at the bullet from the bolt trying to load it.

What kind of ammo were you shooting?

  5. Nice try. No shortage of humor coming from me.

So what you're saying is all these comments you are making are supposed to be a joke?

    Bullshit.

Even if they were supposed to be a joke, they're not funny. Any SEFE that jokes about hooking guys on a checkride is a total douchebag. I have always been amazed that commanders wouls allow douchebags to be SEFEs, especially when you consider the impact their judgement can have on a person. The FEF is part of an officer's permanent record. It is not a gradebook. Form 8s are not a place for bad judgement. I would fire any SEFE on the spot if they even hinted that they would bust a guy on a checkride for any reason.

Checkrides are an evaluation of the training system. It is the training system that should identify problems requiring removal from flying status, not a checkride. I can't even count the number of times I've seen SEFEs tube a guy on a checkride for something minor that could easily been overlooked. I know this, there is never a ride that the SEFE couldn't hook a guy so the most important factor for a SEFE is good judgement.

Joking about hooking someone on a checkride is poor judgement so even if that's what you are now claiming you are still a DOUCHEBAG.

I didn't know my jokes required a rainman sign off to make them actual humor. Should I start running all attempts at humor through you first? How 'bout all future jokes/ sarcastic remarks from me on this board will come with the implied disclaimer that it hasn't been pre-approved by rainman and he may/may not find it funny?

Here's some news for you: Joking about checkrides on an internet forum and administering one in real life are a little different. Maybe they were one and the same back in "your day." But nowadays, folks actually kid around sometimes on the internets. If you think that I'd actually Q2 someone for a vintage Playboy, you're a little dense.

I'm not sure how you've made me into the SEFE we all know and hate. I haven't / don't hold the hook joke over evaluee's heads during before/during/after an evaluation. I'm sure you'll call "Bullshit," and that's fine. Your approval is nothing I need or seek.

I still think that the Playboy remark is sage advice, if you're going to bring reading material on a checkride, make sure it's current and not back from "rainman's day."

If your next reply is going to be something like - "Bullshit douchebag," do me a favor and save the bandwidth.

  6. She's still cool, smart, hot, etc.

Standard baseops rule- a claim of hotness must be substantiated immediately with a picture, preferable in bikini.

Seriously, are you having a pussy measuring contest because you think you know 2% about the Air Force?

So in this contest, smaller is better?

  7. If I'm going to start a poll of my own WRT a marine, it's going to be that chick that used to be on JAG...granted not a real Marine, but she gets my pole started every time.

You can't bring her up without posting a pic. Some mod please increase zrooster's warn.

  8. First let me say, thanks for all you guys do to keep this a great site.

Now for the bitching- Can we lock the polls on threads after 30 days or some appropriate time so they don't get bumped to the top everytime someone votes?

  9. I have a similar story to rainman’s where I dropped the f-bomb in a heated situation.

I sent a LT to Sam’s to stock the snackbar. When I came in from flying, I went to check his work. He bought fruit cups! The very same fruit cups that no one eats from the box lunches. There are enough discarded fruit cups in the mission planning room to feed a small nation and this moron buys more. People won’t eat them when they’re free and now he’s charging $.50 a piece.

What a fucking douche. Debrief was harsh and ladened with F-bombs. I think he cried.

  10. My first thought is Sikes is lying. He was either mad because Toyota told him his Prius was fine or he planned it all along. It's just a little over the top that Ponch for CHiPs would have to help bring his car to a stop. Not buying it.

2 to everything M2 said earlier.

edit to add- Yes, I know Ponch was a Motorcycle cop. But I didn't think anyone would get the reference if I said "Officer Bonnie Clark."
