  1. OK, I know this post was from a long time ago but I am going to go look at a Gen II GSG-5 this afternoon and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. I know about the ATF ruling on the barrel shroud on the SD models, and that the first generation ones had lousy stocks that would break; but from what I understand they are great little rifles. The seller has three mags for it, plus a delrin charging handle buffer and replacement push pins (not installed). It has less than 500 rounds through it and he's asking $350. I sent him the link to see if it was affected by the ATI recall and am waiting to hear back on that.

    Cheers! M2

It's hard to go wrong at $350!!

    That's a great price.

  2. 7mm punches quite a kick, similar to a 300 Win Mag. You hunting larger game? As otherwise, you may want to consider something smaller, such as a .308 or even a .270.

    Plus, price 7mm ammo...it ain't cheap!

    Cheers! M2

Yeah, but $257 for a Remmington 700 scoped, NIB is pretty damn good. I think I'd buy it.

  3. Driving through the Southeast near the Georgia/Alabama border I passed a nice, shiny, mean-looking jet-black 2009 Camero with dark tinted windows and the Alabama license plate "HK 45." Could be someone's initials and the year they were born, but for some reason, I don't think so.

So "HK 45" should still be available in GA. Maybe I'll get it for the wife's swagger wagon, she'd love that.

Side note- Put about 60 thru the HK. Shoots nice, the sight picture is a little different that other guns I have owned, the HK is a dead on / cover up hold. The DA trigger pull is stout, It might take a little getting used to. The SA is smooth and nice.

  4. That's because, while I wouldn't fly for the Navy (I don't ever see myself on a damn ship for months at a time), the one thing I do really respect about them is they still have a sliver of the "get it done" attitude that has been generally lost in the USAF. The USAF is all about power point slides on plasmas, nice props on easels, and turning anything into a political production so some people look good. To the USAF, it's about how they look doing it, not whether it gets done. With the Navy, they have facilities that look like shit, airplanes that are ugly and somewhat functioning, but a mindset of "lets get the job done".

The Angels have a great show and if I had my choice I'd watch the Blue Angels every time. The snoozer of a show the TBirds put on is really, really boring.

  5. As far as the Tops in Blue are concerned, this is not a budgetary issue; it's an issue of untold embarrassment for the Air Force. I wouldn't be opposed to the AF taking 10 times the amount of funds it costs to run TIB and putting that towards destroying every bit of evidence that TIB ever existed. That would include, but not be limited to, the eradication of human memories. Tax dollars well spent.

How about the 5 plasmas in the MPF that have been sitting in their boxes since April? I bet they're still sitting in the same place in another 6 months. There's money well spent. How about the need for a new computer every 30 minutes. Or the giant waste of flying aeromed trainers, can't they just train in a FUT? I mean, if you can teach pilot initial C-130J training sim only, it would seem that you could train aeromeds in a FUT with a few guys shaking it. The list goes on and on...
  6. I just meant a naked Mossberg- no tactical accessories, yet. I've got a bunch of 2 3/4" buckshot, I'll probably keep buying the 2 3/4" variety- because my Remmington 1100 can use it too.

  7. Here's one of today's purchases, HK USP .45ACP Compact. Looking forward to shooting it.

ETA- also picked up a Mossberg 500 Persuader, nothing special. I'll post a pic after some mods.

  8. Anyone ever shoot an FN 5.7? I was getting the serious upsale by a guy at the gun show. It felt pretty good, but a little on the high side of my $ range. I think I'm leaning to the S&W MP .45 right now, the guy said he'd make me a great deal on the FN. It just seams like a small caliber to me. I guess I need to do some reading.

  9. Well, I'm in the market and I was fairly set on the XD 45, now I'm torn. Finally sold my Colt Python and I've got some cash burning a hole in my pocket. Thinking of an XD and a new HD 12 gauge.

  10. Yep, and they're right.

I always told guys (officers, not young PFC types) that I didn't join the Air Force because the Army/Navy/USMC wouldn't take me. That shut 'em up quick.

I always say, "We all make our career choices." That shuts them up too.

  11. I think some people are confused, thinking that the 189th will be AMP-only and the AFRC squadron will be non-AMP only. The real answer is the 189th and the AFRC will handle both until all airframes are AMP'd, or they'll both train non-AMP legacy crews if that program falls through.

Ahhh...then I withdraw my smartass "safe bet" comment to be used at a later date.

  12. 2007 Chandler Original with an Ultima 113". It sounds like a fucking Nascar at idle.

Sweet bike. Don't chip a tooth riding a hardtail.

I'm looking for bobber-style, with a little more comfort. A hardtail would have been sweet 10 years ago, now I'm too freaking old.
