  1. My most recent advice from leadership was pretty much what they said above:

Quals (what makes you a more special leaf than all the other leaves out there)

Goal (I would like another flying billet/Staff/white jet -- Next assignment AND long term)

    Aircraft/Location Prefs

Extenuating Circumstances (joint spouse, kid sick, etc)

That was the advice from HQ AF, so I'll hopefully soon find out what AMC is wanting in that box (sts, teehee).

I'm AMC as well so also curious. Thanks guys.

  2. I work assignments for USAFE and work closely with the ACC & AMC DT advisers. Everyone at AFPC and the DTs says to leave off Quals, bio, or other resume type info. They have all your OPRs, and your SURF is on top of the record. No need to waste your and their time repeating what they already have. Just FWIW.

    Otherwise all good advise.

Since knowing your audience is so important when communicating, can you help answer that question WRT the ADP comments section? Who has eyes on, other than the sq/cc? Just seems like listing quals could be viewed as arrogant if read by a 20 yr senior leader.

  3. BOTTOM LINE HERE: In much the same way that Aviation checklist discipline is important…uniform standards discipline is also significant…it tells us how to maintain the Human Weapons System.

ROCK BOTTOM LINE: Don't get confused and think that all of the aforementioned things are "Chief Xxxxxxxx's" requirements. Nope. Those are the result of 74 years of history/heritage. All of those requirements are purposefully stated in AFI's signed-out by General Officers and by YOUR Wing Commander. They are also enforceable under Articles 92 and 134 of the UCMJ. Make no mistake about it…we simply execute policies, standards and directives…our Commanders create them...and the cycle will continue for the next 74 years - with, or without us.

    V/R

    Chief Xxxxxxxx

Almost spit my coffee out on the HWS line--that is funny! And what's so significant about 1937 WRT USAF? Way to set the example for your troops Chief. How can I expect you to lead if you don't know the history of my Air Force or just plain suck at math?

  4. Oh no!! Not the "threat" of Cannon!!

AFSOC isn't perfect but it still is an organization to be proud of. While AMC was still figuring out how to support Haiti, CCT had the airport open with Talons and AFSOC slicks ferrying people out of the country. Col Elton was putting his career on the line to free up ramp space and get people the medical attention they deserved. And that counted for HRT's ORI. Not a bad outing for AFSOC.

Great read in the Small Wars Journal on his experiences in Haiti. It was pretty incredible hearing how they mastered the chaos and saved countless lives.

  5. Things are improving at the Deid, as evidenced by the 4 month gap in posts here. As soon as the new AUAB supp comes out, reflective belts will no longer be required in PT's as long as the shorts and shirt have reflective material and you are not running on a public road. Should we make facebook groups for every idiotic policy they try to enforce here or AF wide?

The antenna destruction was pure BS. That's no way to treat another airman. If those punks were going to sabotage anyone, why not spend their time disrupting the WoW mafia who sucks down the bandwidth? Leave the everyday Joe, who is skyping home to his wife, alone.

  6. Fuck DECA/AAFES. I make every effort possible to avoid supporting these institutions.

If your base is the the middle of nowhere or an overseas location, it make perfect sense to have one. But for the most part they are unnecessary on modern AF bases, just a place for arthritic old farts to shop and middle-aged asian women to have a job. When you factor in the surcharges, you're paying more than you would off base.

Are you serious right now? Arthritic old farts?

  7. I'm not sure what we're going to ask for it yet, going in for annual this week. I wanted to make sure there's nothing going on with it before I put it on the market.

You can do basic aero in it, no inverted systems, so I just stick to rolls, wifferdills, etc.

We're looking at a 210 - maybe an A36 Bo. Want something we can travel in.

Can't go wrong with a bonanza! Does it need to be 6 seats? I know of a real nice 4 seater V tail, F-35 with 225hp motor that will be for sale shortly. I think he's looking for $50K or less.

  8. These guys make me proud to be in the AF. 69% of everyone else makes me ashamed.

Truly incredible. Thanks for sharing and cheers to everyone who helped save our guys and crush the enemy.

"When a Chinook carrying the special operators arrived, the firefight flared again. An AC-130 soon arrived. The ground troops placed infrared strobes, and the Spooky pounded the northern ridgeline with its 105mm cannons."

"That's when we felt the tides were turning," McCaffrey said. "It was like, holy crap, we're going to make it through this."

  9. Thanks - it's about to be up for sale. No more commuting for me! (and we are getting something bigger for traveling)

Don't be jealous of the commute... it's been fun, but sea fog, no spares, $65/day in gas, restricted areas, Blue Angel practice, getting stuck for wx and daily gulf coast t-storms have made it a hassle. I'm ready to stop the air-commute. One month left!

How much are you looking to sell for and can you do aerobatics in your plane? What are you looking at buying next?

  10. I'm glad they got a chance to do this and think it's something they'll never forget. I just wish the media wouldn't sensationalize these "All Female XXX" stories. I get more satisfaction out of my accomplishments from within than on the front page of some news story.
