How do you track down an Officer Accessions Recruiter? My friend has spoken to an enlisted recruiter and asked for such a person and the guy didn't know...

I apologize ahead of time.... The only things I know about the Guard and Reserves are things that I have picked up in talking to some of my UPT buddies... I'm trying to get some answers for a friend of mine that's interested in becoming a MX officer. How does one go about finding out if a unit has any openings? Will they "hire" people off the street and send them to OTS/AMS to fill a MX officer position, as they would for a pilot selectee? Is there a website with some good answers, or a list of openings? Thanks a lot!

I'm investing in a ROTH IRA right now. Should I switch over to a regular IRA at some point (ie, closer to retirement?) Is that even an option?

The 1C's here at CAFB always seemed to have some attitude towards students whenever we asked something of them. I never really said anything about it, but it always kind of erked me. The IPs did a fine job of letting us know we sucked, I didn't need enlisted personnel at the duty desk to rub it in.

I saw on the AF website that they issued a stop movement to all of the bases in the surrounding area (ie, NAS Corpus, Kingsville, and that other one....) Hopefully that will be done away with by the time I'm done with water survival next week. http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?storyID=123011865

Start early, too. I started doing all of that as soon as I started drawing pay just so that I wouldn't "miss" the money. You'll hear advice like that all the time, just take it!

Are you talking about getting compensated for disability if you are discharged from the service due to injuries sustained on duty?

I was on casual for eight months before UPT and tried to see if there was any way I could do that. They told me no, and the first I've ever heard (for the reason flyerpapa stated above) of having accomplishing it before UPT are the people that BONE co-driver just talked about. But, if you don't ask, the answer is automatically no.... Why not give it a shot.

Ya'll wouldn't happen to have any shows lined up in the San Antonio/Corpus Christi area, would you?
