I think they chose the Vance location because of its horrible weather and the crosswinds. Not to mention tornados and snow. I guess this is so we could get plenty of practice at alternate mission planning and crosswind landings. That has to be the ONLY reason they chose this place.

Here is a question for ya. I went through Whiting where they made me give my helmet back. Im just finishing Tones here at Vance where we dont need a helmet. BUT, I was reading the Little Rock website and it says I need my own helmet or I have to deal with using a loaner everytime I need one. Do you think it possible that I could get issued one here at Vance since I never was issued one in the first place?

Ive looked and looked online for someone I can order a patch to put on my pen pocket that is C-130 related. Anyone know of a specific website that sells them. Most people have told me fun-meter.com, but that site is shutdown for who knows how long. Thanks.

If you are consistently having problems with anything having to do with UPT such as testing, flying, or even officership qualities, you can be put on CAP. If its flying problems, they most likely will put you with more senior IP's that may be able to provide a little better instruction. It is supposed to be a little more one-on-one training and maybe some 87 rides. If its a testing problem, they should find someone for you that can help and maybe give you some extra study time. They tell us it can only help you, not hurt you, but who knows. Im not an IP so I dont know how true that is. Also, Im telling you info from the T-1 side of the house since I didnt go thru Tweets. Hope this helps.

Are you talking about Civil Air Patrol or Commanders Awareness Program that you can get put on during UPT?

I wanted to do the swim stuff specifically to do the helo hoist but the swim guys at the pool wouldnt let me. They said it was some rule the AF had. Its cool though because we get to do it at water survival after UPT.

I cant say for sure, I was a pilot down there and they didnt make us swim, but there is like 2 weeks where they teach you the correct way to swim before taking the final swim test, no one in our class failed it. One guy couldnt pass the initial swim screen, so they gave him remedial instruction and he did fine. Make sure your run time is decent because you will take a PT test right after you inprocess and another one a few weeks later and its on a hilly cross-country track with sand and wood chips, not on a flat track. If you have any other questions, you HAVE to go to airwarriors.com, its a great navy site and they will be able to answer ANY question you have.

I had Verizon the whole time. They have full service in PCola but service is shady in parts of Milton. I usually had to walk outside to get a signal when I lived in the dorms.

Dont know about you guys, but the last thing I felt like doing in my freetime was to jump in an airplane and go flying. Got beat up enough during the week where I didnt feel the need to fly more. You are gonna have enough on your plate that you probably shouldnt worry yourself with that extra stuff.
