But why is there a need for test pilots? Does it matter what aircraft you come from? Is it possible for somebody to come off AD and get a job thats not a TP grad? Anybody ever live in Palmdale?

Well old and crusty come together when you think of Palmdale or Lancaster. Why are they using civilians instead of AD? Is there not enough pilots? [ 24. September 2005, 22:51: Message edited by: scoobs ]

How hard is it to get a job at Lockheed as a test pilot or sim instuctor? They say that you don't need to be a TPS graduate.
  6. Don't switch over to a traditional. Keep the Roth you can't max it out and its the best deal out there. Put the maximum amount in each year. And if your married get your wife a seprate one. That way in 20 years you will have an awesome retirement on top of the AF and/or airlines.

You would know better then I would. Over at flightinfo the BBJ squadron out of NASNI was looking for pilots. But that was a year or so ago. https://forums.flightinfo.com/showthread.ph...t=navy+reserves
  18. scoobs replied to a post in a topic in General Discussion
Rainman would you recommend doing ten years AD then going to the reserves? I know you don't care for guard babies.
  19. scoobs replied to a post in a topic in General Discussion
Do you want to fly AD or Guard? From your post it sounds like you want AD. I wouldn't turn down the slot since the guard usually runs slow. It would take a year or so before going to AMS and UPT. That would give you enough time to find out if your accepted in January. Good luck.

Don't forget the Navy VP squadrons.
  21. Will that affect promotion rates? [ 24. June 2005, 19:01: Message edited by: scoobs ]
  22. With such limited slots to trasfer over to the 60 you could stay in Huey for a long time?
  23. Can you stay in the Huey for 20 years?
  24. I don't know if they use NVG's. At Rucker they teach them how to fly using them. The mission of the Huey is to support the space and missle people. They also do stuff with survival school and VIP tranport. [ 23. June 2005, 20:57: Message edited by: scoobs ]
  25. So how long is your initial assignment since you teach before going to the B-2?
