  1. Isn't that what correspondence is for? I understood him to mean you only do correspondence if you aren't able to go in residence. Please correct me if I'm way off target Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. This has been my exact experience in AFSOC the past 2.69 years. Not speaking for anyone else but I've loved it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. There are several commanders/DO's at my base who've abandoned the crackberry for iPhone 4's, mine included Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I lived out the back gate, west of blue angel about 10 mins. Awesome house for a great price (rental). ERA was a decent company to work with. The big thing about living out the back gate is you will have to drive to the front gate on early morning shows. But that's better than living in the shanties outside of the front gate. 5. I see where the confusion is...when you are "applying" from ROTC (and probably the other commissioning sources as well) you must fill out an ordered preference for every option. However, when applying to the Active Duty Rated Board (ie you are already commissioned), you are NOT required to do so (see my previous explanation). So blake, after reading your question again, it's rather vague if you are speaking about applying from ROTC or as a commissioned officer trying for a rated spot. Either way, your question should have been answered in some fashion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Just spoke to a buddy who was recently stationed @ Elmendorf and this still holds true...you must be a resident NLT 1 Jan for it to count for that year. So if you PCS b/w now and Jan 2015, you wouldn't get any PFD until it is paid out for CY 2015. Edit for correct info
  7. I'm going to go ahead and disagree with your insinuation here... You talk about folding flags in -20 and how they weren't as crisp or as pretty...was that because it was cold, or because you intentionally did it out of spite (as her language suggests)? There is a major difference between making an off color joke and taking a picture like that in front of a flag draped casket and saying "we put the FUN in funeral". Maybe I am just a little too idealistic, but I see a very distinct line between a macabre joke and what these idiots did. And seriously, how does GWB's speeches have even the closest resemblance to the idiocy of these people?
  8. I wish I could recall what document I saw it on...but I am 99% certain that dependents can keep former residencies when you PCS. You may have to make yours/hers official home of record FL (if it isn't already), but I don't think she will required to change. I'll look through all the random notes/papers I have in the PCS folder and see if I can locate it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. This statement is false. One of the airmen in my sqdn when I was at Shaw got into a motorcycle accident w/o PPE and Big Blue turned their back after a line of duty determination. And there ARE circumstances where SGLI will NOT be paid out. "Always" is a very seldom used word in today's AF
  10. Haha no. You either misunderstood them or they are just incorrect. When you fill out the 215, you can check UPT, CSO, RPA, or ABM. You have the option to check as many or few as you want. So a non rated guy might check UPT and CSO (or all 4 if they just wanted some sort of wings). A current CSO would probably only check UPT. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Will be heading to Columbus EOM July...I'm sure the off base options talked about throughout haven't changed too much. I'm trying to weigh the benefits of living on base and being closer but less/no BAH with living off base and finding a decent place to rent. AD O-3, never lived on base before so NASA as far as that goes. Any advice/opinions? It will be me, my wife and our dog...she will be working on base at the CDC, so we will both be commuting to work on base. Thanks guys!
  12. There's a BIG difference between bacon and bacon seasoning IMHO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Just got words from the 2-star here at AU that sometime in late FY14, SOS will migrate to a 5 week course
  14. Honestly I think as long as you have it before getting orders to go to IFS, you can make it work. The problem is making sure the right people know you have it, but that should be a relatively small hurdle (in theory, it IS AFPC) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Appears to be FMC for me. Thanks for the fix! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. It is a stupid AETC form...basically a locator for where/when you're going, how you're getting there, driving directions, etc
  17. Ive used the Wolf gold more than any other ammo in both my .223's...it's a good compromise between cheap ammo and super high quality. If you can find a good deal on 500/1000 bundles I'd take it, thankfully the deals are becoming more common
  18. We cook it in gunships, just not quite as religiously as the pointy nose guys
  19. This is a side of the AF I have never seen before...don't get me wrong I've seen plenty of stupid stuff going on, but this isn't even in the same league as stupid queep. This is the most unbelievable BS I've ever heard of. Hopefully there can be some actual leadership put there to un-fvck it
  20. Guess what UPT will do for you...start you over and teach the Air Force way. Your logic is flawed my friend.
  21. I love my 300 BO, probably my favorite gun, especially with the AAC suppressor that just came through. Any place to get good BO rounds is good in my book
  22. I'm VERY interested to see how the new J performs in combat
  23. You will have to go through RPA training and, from the day you get winged, must serve 2 full years as an RPA pilot. After 2 years you can apply to the rated board and try for pilot, so long as you can serve 2.5 years from the day you are winged to the day you start UPT. Good luck!
