  1. Come on, the bonus is a perk, not an "incentive", and none of you guys are going to leave over the bonus not being increased. If you really hate your job as much as you guys talk about, then the difference between $25K and $35K should be negligible. If the money is really what you are after, quit being a puss and go get a job where you can be compensated for your performance and make some real money. Everybody talks a big game about leaving, but the reality is half of you are scared to leave because in your heart you know that you are compensated pretty damn well with relatively good stability and benefits to fly some cool jets despite all of the mother blue BS.

We just interviewed 3 11Fs for 2 part time jobs and none of them are going to the airlines. The active duty is fucked.

  2. I'm wondering if the SEALS jumped on the bandwagon since someone else was taking all the credit for their work. From accounts, they thought they had high odds of failure and prison and/or death in Pakistan. But taking all the risks and getting none of the credit was fine with them in the past.

In what universe did SEALs not take credit for something?

I think that it is a hard to judge her from the outside looking in when we do not understand what type of documents she had in her office. Was it information that she was writing about that the FBI considers classified or are there actual documents that were snuck out that are classified. In my opinion, there is a difference. When an author/ex government employee writes a book that may have classified information in it at home but eventually gets in reviewed properly before getting it published, they do not get arrested when the government decides to redact 20 pages of it for being classified.

The government should not allow intelligence officers to be authors/news contributors because their knowledge on certain subjects can easily get into gray areas. News anchors talk about classified information all the time, the problem is when someone like Broadwell talks about the same thing, the military might as well be saying it. For example, for a long time the government didn’t claim they used “UAVs” in certain countries even though it was common knowledge and reported on CNN whenever it happened. If someone like Broadwell wrote an article on that subject would it be considered classified even if she used non-classified sources for her article?

The main thing that makes me wonder about the situation is, how in the hell did she get the classified documents on her computer in the first place? If she wasn’t the author, did she have a thumb drive or what? The government has not given any details about it so you have to wonder what the whole story is.

Are you some kind of communist?

  3. I'm looking at getting a new sight for an AR. I'm leaning towards the EO tech XPS2. Anyone have experience they can share?

I love my Aimpoint Micro. But the EOTech has some nice reticle options. Probably can't go wrong between the two.

  4. Just a friendly heads up, Bud's Police Supply has some Smith & Wesson AR-15s in stock. Probably should act fast if you've been waiting to get an AR without being completely gouged on price.

    edited to add clarification

Thanks for the heads up. If I was still into guns I would have just picked up an ORC and a m&P 22.

  5. The wife and I have Walther PPQ's in 9mm, we absolutely love them, incredible trigger, very accurate, extremely comfortable to shoot. They are roughly the size of a Glock 19, so on the smaller side. Only real down side is the cost of magazines. Some people don't like the HK style mag release (I actually prefer it) but the newer version that should be available late next month has a traditional button mag release.

We rented it back to back with the M&P 9mm, Glock 17, and Berretta 92FS and the PPQ was the clear favorite (with the M&P 2nd, 92FS was my 3rd/wife's 4th, and the 17 was my 4th/her 3rd) It shot similar to the M&P but with a much better trigger and a more ergonomic grip (we shot it more accurately than the M&P too).

I know concealed isn't a factor, but it is concealable. (any outfit that would conceal a Glock 19 would conceal this).

I'm trading my M&P with Apex Trigger for a Saiga 12 gauge. I always liked how it shot until it started having the accuracy issues that have plagued the M&P. The deciding factor for me is that the slide would go forward about half the time when I reloaded.

I carry a Gen 2 Glock 19 and recommend the earlier generation (2/3) Glocks.

If I was shopping for a new full size right now I'd be looking for a Hk P30 or a PPQ.

  6. I haven't read the exact wording, but the assumption right now is that cops will be exempt from these laws and the NYPD will still have assault weapons and 17 round mags for their Glocks; which is ridiculous since civilians face the same threat cops face. Even more ridiculous since the people who passed the law are all protected by body guards who aren't affected by the law. Truly a case of hypocritical elite shitting on our founding principals.

    Cops are civilians.

  7. See the post two previous to yours. RRA is better than Colt. Also recommend making your purchase about two months ago. Lots of great deals to be had.

ETA: I also like Spikes Tactical, but their prices have become somewhat elevated recently and they're backordered a year.

Care to elaborate on RRA/Spikes v. Colt?

  8. 30 Round PMAGs are now over $100 on ebay (if you have a few laying around and need some extra Christmas scratch).

eBay doesn't allow the sale of regular capacity magazines, only 10 rounders. They are ending all those auctions as they find them.

  9. Thanks guys. Definitly looking at the 442 now. Saw a comment on another site saying no concealed weapon should be shinny!

I've got a 642 with Crimson Trace grips. Great setup I think. The trigger is heavy but I put the Apex revolver upgrade kit in there and it's a little lighter and a lot smoother.

  10. For anyone out there considering carrying a handgun please do us all a favor and a) get some professional instruction and b) for God's sake please shoot more than 200 rounds through your carry gun before toting in around in public.

  11. Been working for Col Leavitt since she took command of the 4 FW - she has been absolutely amazing. She is genuine in her interactions with Airmen, she asks more questions than any person in charge i've ever met and most of all she is humble. I hope she goes far in this Air Force.

I guess technically this isn't pepper grinding but I don't know what to call it.

  12. No, took a deal, the deal did, no.

She had just gotten married before this happened and was going to JBMDL. After this happened they took her assignment away pending the CM. CM took forever. So, she was offered a deal. Testify for the prosecution (they could not find a pilot anywhere to testify for them) and we will let you resign you commission and we will not CM you. Sounds bad, but what she said in her testimony was the truth, and she would have said that anyway. She just wanted to eventually move to where her husband lived and separating was the best way to do that. Her CM was still on the books just in case she reneged on the deal. Unfortunately, more damage was done to her carrer as a Capt, than Jared as a Maj.

So she's a rat. Too bad about her career.

  13. I'm with M2 on the .40 argument. No practical upside compared to 9mm with several drawbacks. I think a lot of people shoot .40 based on ego and hearsay wrt 9mm effectiveness. Just my opinion, though.

For you AR guys Palmetto State Armory is selling D&H mags for $90/10. Get 'em while you still can. I'd stock up on pistol mags as well.

Mag capacity and online ammo sales seem like pretty easy targets for legislation. Meaningful, common sense changes, know what I mean?

  14. Iowa is prone to sudden bursts of gravity that pull jets close to the earth. The Bermuda Rectangle of the midwest.

It is apparently also prone to "local boy done good decides to take a chance and shine his ass in front of his hometown" kind of lapses in judgement, too.

    Probably your best post.

  15. The thing that pisses me off the most is that she is going after fighter pilots for creating a hostile work environment but didn't go after guys who sexually assaulted her. Her failure to report and prosecute the sexual assault downrange likely caused other sexual assaults. When that guy realized he got away with sexual assault, how many people really think he became a model soldier after that? If (probably not even an if) that guy sexually assaulted another woman later, this chick is indirectly responsible because she may have been able to put him in jail where trash like that belong. She allowed an environment that basically encouraged sexual assault by not reporting it but drew the line at hearing there might be porn in the vault?

You can't go after someone that doesn't exist.
