Headline says dead, but story says rescued. First post said rescued with minor injuries - something doesn't add up. Hope they find the second one soon.

I'd say it's because it got pinned - seems to drop out of the cross-check.

Alleged rape at SERE
No way this would happen during the actual course - not only is everything videotaped, but the docs and such are watching live feeds the whole time.

Masters information (MBA/GRE)
Yeah - if you go through one of the AF programs where you go full-time, you become a JAG. There's a program where the AF pays, you go full-time, and remain active-duty with pay/benefits. There's another one where you get released to go to school, pay for it yourself, don't get pay while you're there, but still get years towards retirement. I'm guessing the difference is the commitment you owe as a JAG. More info here: JAG programs Really the only way to go to law school and not become a JAG is get stationed somewhere that has a night program for law school (not many out there, but I know there's one in Tampa, a few in DC, and some other places. Here's some more info: US News: Part-time law school Rankings of part-time programs: Rankings This is something I've looked into as well. I'd like to do law school, but don't want to be a JAG. Being a flyer, the only jobs I could get in DC or MacDill would be staff jobs, which would be a consistent schedule, but probably wouldn't be conducive to law school at night (most part-time programs take 4 years). But if you really want to do it you can make it work - good luck. EDIT: to add rankings

Gun Talk
I've read through most of the thread (don't have time for all 37 pages!) but haven't yet seen my situation addressed. I'm looking to buy my first handgun and am a complete gun noob. As far as experience level, I haven't really shot other than M9 once a year. My primary use would be target practice at the range, with a secondary of home defense (moving to Clovis - which will probably result in an eventual shotgun purchase based on the discussion earlier in the thread). I'm leaning towards 9mm since that seems to be a good balance between my priorities. So the question is - what should I get? What's the best way for a new gun owner to get their hands on/shoot different types prior to buying? Or are you pretty much left with buy what feels good in your hand (sts) and you're SOL if you hate it when you get it to the range? The only buddy of mine that's a big gun guy (and has various models to shoot) is deployed for the next 4 months which is longer than I'm wanting to wait to buy. From what I gather the major contenders are Glock, Springfield, Sig, HK, with Beretta bringing up the rear. I'm looking to keep the purchase in the <$600 range. Suggestions?

CLASSIC: aiframe suggestions?
Dude 98% of people have no knowledge of AF aircraft when they join ROTC. Even worse is 85% have no knowledge of AF aircraft when they graduate ROTC (for evidence see ASBC). In other news - 67% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Getting jacked up on the flightline
So let's get this straight - you guys didn't authenticate correctly, twice. Command Post responded and they're the asshole? Copy. While I agree there's some reasons guys get jacked up, but from what you described this doesn't sound like an unreasonable reaction.

Things seem to get watered down as they move up the chain - there's a possibility he doesn't even realize how much asspain the average crewdog is experiencing when hacking the mish - unless someone enlightens him. I know it seems ridiculous he wouldn't be aware of it, but do you really think he ever gets told he can't come in the DFAC with white socks? Or that he better put on a reflective belt even though he's in the BRA that's lit up like a stadium? Hell no. When you have the chance to fly with him - i.e. he's a crewdog with you, outside of a formal environment - tell him what's going on, cause the yes men on his staff probably aren't. Maybe he'll change things. Or maybe he really doesn't get it - in that case it really sucks to be at the Deid cause there's no hope of things changing.

Leadership at the 'Deid
So what you're saying is you have access to the Boss - don't pass on the opportunity to let him know what crewdogs are thinking and what asspain they're dealing with. Just make sure you bring it up without coming off as a whiny bitch - hopefully he'll appreciate some honest ground truth.

Clovis Question
I have Alltel and have never had a problem getting a signal out there. Unknown if that's due to Alltel's coverage or Verizon's (Alltel piggybacks on Verizon's towers).
