I'm not surprised that there is a spike, but what does surprise me is that every single airframe's mishap rate increased... curious to see what this will be attributed to.

You mean besides an aging fleet and all your experience sprinting to the door when their ADSC is up?

I’m already at Laughlin, dual qual sounds great as long as my beans will be prorated. None of the points made have changed my mind. If I was an IP in T-6 land this would be a non-issue for me. Flew a single engine turboprop without ejection seats, with a 10 minute supply of emergency oxygen and no smoke goggles well outside of glide from any suitable landing site and somehow still managed just fine.

Sure, the possibility of some anomalous in-flight breakup of a T-6 at high altitude is statistically possible...but how likely? Same goes for smoke and fumes event incidents given the amount of daily flying that occurs.

Not saying things can’t happen but the pervasive unwillingness to fly is almost comical. Go spend some time with Army rotary wing, I’m sure that group will empathize.

"Cars didn't even have seat belts back in my day, and I'm still here!"

Such an idiotic line of reasoning.

What’s your role in the exercise? If you can help/train, fine, if not, it’s BS.

My sq was TDY at a base during a ORE...base told us not to interfere, DO said “we’ll participate in full chem gear etc” so that he could look good.

You don't happen to be a Dyess guy do you?

  4. Maybe this is a question for the AFRC/ANG board, but I figure this applies to airline guys too...

Are there any part-time non-flying AFRC/ANG jobs that pilots can do that might work better with an airline pilot's schedule?  The city I want to settle down in has an ANG flying unit, but I'm not sure if I want to cross-train, go through the school house, etc. all over again for a new airframe.  I might actually enjoy flying a desk for a few days a month as a break from airline flying.  Any positions like this that are common in AFRC/ANG units?

  5. I'm sure the answer is "it depends", but which airline allows for the most schedule flexibility?  I admittedly know nothing about the airline scheduling process, but how hard is it to add/drop trips?  For example, if I'm scheduled for a Mon-Thur trip, but my kid has some school shit that my wife wants me to attend on Wed, can I drop the trip and it's easily picked up by someone else?  Do I need to find my replacement?  Or do I need to put in for a day off months in advance and hopefully the chips fall my way?

By “weeding out the suck” you mean send to different communities in the MAF, yeah, the C-130 community is just as “guilty” as any other community of doing that.

This is at least the 3rd time you've mentioned the Herk community cross-flowing our shit to the Tanker.  Did some former Herk dude/dudette take your CGOC presidency position?

A majority of -130 guys at my last base that cross flowed had the biggest knee pads sewed into their bags. Maybe those are the only Herk folks promoted.

We've already covered this, but those are the type of people we try to get out of the community through programs like Phoenix.

Does anyone know if it was a KC-130T or J?

Someone on TPN posted the unit the tail was from and a quick Google search showed they flew T models but obviously nothing has been confirmed.

Anyone heard any gouge on the release of the O-4 board? MyPers still not updated since 7 Jun and still showing "late Jun - mid-July" for the release.

Unconfirmed words from the minions in my OG is that "it should be any day now..." but I'll believe that as soon as it happens.

It's pretty sad that I'm in this board but my give-a-shit factor is so low that I forgot the results were going to be released this summer.

Funny, some of the biggest "skilled careerists" in my neck of the MAF are crossflow -130 guys who volunteer for every GO visit, leadership "lunch and learn", and cookie bake off.

It's funny because the last few we've sent to Phoenix from the Herk were the sewn-in kneepad types that we wanted out of the community.  You're welcome.
