  1. All joking aside, it is good to hear there were no injuries or deaths. That is a lot of damage, hopefully the school will recover quickly. Cheers! M2
  2. HD Y'know that's a sucker bet...maybe one of the SNAPs may fall for it; but none of us who know Doc would throw our money away so easily. Cheers! M2
  3. J. Bones Next time you post an article, please delete any and all references to retired (thank God) Gen Robert "Doc" Fogelnuts. A vast majority of us didn't care what he thought when he was USAFE/CC...and the same care even less now that he is at MSU. Cheers! M2
  4. JP Thanks for the clarification, I knew you could take a weapon on base under certain circumstances (heck, there used to be rod & gun clobs on almost every base); but nowadays it is a heck of a lot tougher. If anyone is ever in the San Antonio area and looking for a great range, Camp Bullis (in the north part of town at the intersection of IH-10 and Loop 1604) has some great facilities as well as a nice hunter's lodge. You can actually hunt on the camp but the paperwork to do so is a *****. It is much easier to find someone with some property that will allow you to hunt there. By the way, the "Bullis Buck," which carried antlers with 35 scorable points and an outside spread of more than 27 inches--a monster rack that ranks as the third-largest taken from a native whitetail in Texas--was stabbed to death with a pocket knife by Camp Bullis personnel responding to a call about an injured deer on the grounds of the 28,000-acre military reservation... (and no, that is not me in the pic!) Cheers! M2
  5. VP Thanks, the only question I have is I thought you had to buy from a Glock law enforcement distributor to get the discount. I too applaud AAFES decision to sell guns, I only wish the ones around here were doing so! My XD-45ACP Service was the first semi-auto I owned, having a couple of wheel-guns before that (one of which is a 1954 Colt .357 Magnum, which was my father's before he passed away. It is a very sweet gun!). I loved the XD so much I ran out and bought a M1911 GI a few months later. Of course, I also love firing rifled slugs through my Mossberg Persuader 12ga tactical shotgun! Big boom, big hole! Cheers! M2
  6. I just picked up a XD .45 ACP. Love it.
  7. Sweet! I have never heard of AAFES selling any firearms. I wonder how it works out, as here in Texas I have any easy time buying a guy with my concealed handgun license. How does it work from a federal perspective? It makes me wonder why the BX's in the Lone Star State don't sell them...there is certainly a market here! Cheers! M2
  8. Oh shit, really? What are they carrying? Might be time to take a trip up to Barksdale... Seriously, this will be interesting as it is--for the most part--illegal to bring a personally-owned firearm on base. I wonder how you are expected to get it outta the BX and back home? And before anyone answers, I am kidding...I am sure these are hunting firearms and there is some provision for getting them off base. As for the Glock discount for military, you have to go through a Glock Law Enforcement dealer to get it. It is about $100 off the normal price, and applies to AD, Guard, Reserve, and even us old retired slugs! The discount is also extended to EMS/EMT personnel. Personally, I prefer the XD over the Glock, especially considering the kB! issue! Some end up looking like this... Cheers! M2
  9. Concur with C17Driver, be sure to document everything as the more complete information you have for background investigations, the better. However, I have to add that even though you may not take part in questionable actions, the mere fact that you worked for a foreign government could have an impact on your future US clearances. I would try contacting the DSS before you commit to anything. Cheers! M2
  10. OK, explain to me how fighting an insurgency in Iraq defends/preserves the Constitution of the United States? I am interested in hearing how you make that connection. If anything, the connection between the Oath of Office for a commissioned officer in the USAF and the war we are fighting in Iraq fall under the second to the last line, "that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter." Maj Gilbert made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the Armed Forces of his country. He was doing his duty to the best of his ability. That is noble enough, but don't try to claim that there was any threat to the Constitution of the United States by Iraq. Not everything they taught you in AFROTC is the truth, partner. Cheers! 11. News report... Cheers! M2
  12. Steve My reply was not solely based on his comments here, but in other threads as well. Nothing against the guy, but this just doesn't seem like the right forum for him... And as I stated in my previous posts, I have no problem with pictures being taken at a military funeral. As Hacker stated, it can be very motivating for those in the fight. However, raf eng's snide comment about "isn't it ironic that the freedom's that this widow's husband died for are now being restricted" (by the way, for a Brit he sure has bad grammar, and using text messaging slang isn't the best move) was not appropriate. Maj Gilbert sacrificed his life in fighting an insurgency and trying to provide security in a foreign country. His actions were not directly tied to any of Constitutional Amendments; it is as ridiculous as saying he died supporting the right to bear arms. As the picture has been removed, I suspect that permission from the family was not given. What other explanation could there be to its removal, outside of a large protest at its publishing? Cheers! M2
  13. raf eng It stands for 'So To Speak,' used anytime a statement could be misconstrued for a sexual remark. Are you sure you wouldn't rather be on PPRuNe? You'd probably prefer the 'yank bashing' (STS) going on there... Cheers! M2
  14. Wow, that makes us 'Agents of Change!' Cheers! M2
  15. There are probably some reasons to capture images from a funeral, maybe to honor the fallen hero or something along those lines; but pictures of a grieving family are not necessary. They are in enough pain, they do not need photographic evidence to show that. As CH said, someone needs a good *****slap for this. CH, God forbid that I would have to; but I will gladly honor your request. With pleasure. Now, can someone find me one of those "cyber warriors" that the USAF touts so loudly to hack into the AF.mil web site and remove that picture? Cheers! M2
  16. On the cover of this week's Air Force Times... Anyone else think they were the same article?? Cheers! M2
  17. Found this, good gouge. Cheers! M2
  18. Pisses me off as well, I wanna smack the shit outta them but I realize I should be smacking the shit outta their parents for not smacking the shit outta them for acting like that! Anyhow, this is a good one to start... The story Don't forget John Chapman or Jason Cunningham. That should get you off to a start... Cheers! M2
  19. Still waiting for some real news on Metzger's "ordeal," but in the mean time here is some more poop posted on a blog I found... Good for a laugh, but probably not far from the truth...notice how the USAF hasn't said a peep about her lately?? Not even heralding her as a "hero" for surviving her "abduction"...which in itself leads me to believe these conspiracy theories. Cheers! M2
  20. Reminds me of this week's issue of Time... Story Cheers! M2
