The fact this is 100% illegal aside, what if you just file your travel voucher with a lost receipt form for lodging expenses.  A lost receipt form is always a legitimate way to claim expenses and you are not busting the JTR by doing so; not your problem if you don't supply an original receipt. Only issue would be if your AO wants to go through the hassle of personally calling Base X lodging and demanding to know if you stayed there or not.  This is all such a crock of shit, but I'm not surprised...counting down the days until I can pull the handle.

The AO would likely insist that you call the hotel and get a copy of your bill because the hotel will be able to provide that.

I'd love to see Hillary win the race for mayor of NYC.  Those idiots deserve her and it would show just how corrupt and villainous she is.  Her disastrous term as mayor could always be pointed to show why it's a good thing that she lost the Presidential race.

Are there any significant policy disagreements between her and DeBlasio?  NYC would be trading in a generic liberal with low approval ratings and lack of charisma for ... a generic liberal with low approval ratings and a lack of charisma.  What would be the point?

  3. For the sake of argument, let's say that Hansen and Manning each caused the same amount of damage.  I'd still support a lighter sentence for Manning.  Hansen knowingly caused harm for money.  Manning thought she was doing the right thing (obviously she wasn't).  The law accounts for motive when assigning punishments, and it usually accounts for mental illness as well.  I can't imagine there would have been much uproar if Manning had originally been sentenced to 7 years.  If Manning had been found guilty of "aiding and abetting the enemy", 35 years would have been fine.  But she wasn't.

Further, I think Obama did everyone a favor by making this problem go away.  The next President doesn't have to deal with hysterical conspiracy theorists making Manning into a martyr if she manages to succeed with another of her suicide attempts.  The taxpayers are also off the hook for a sex change operation.  The law was upheld and a criminal punished with a reasonable sentence that accounted for mitigating circumstances while also being severe enough to deter future leakers.  I'm ok with this result.

Airline life is like a stripper.  Once to get your hands on her and see how nice she feels, you'll never be able to go back to your ugly, fat bitch wife.  Sure, the stripper isn't perfect by any means...but it's oh so much better than your previous witch...

This is a hilariously accurate depiction of civilian life.  I'm not in the airlines, but do a flying job for comparable pay.  When I look back on Big Blue I think the same thing I do about my ex-wife: why the fuck did I ever put up with that?

As a supervisor, are there options to offer a winged/current/qualified, PRP-coded individual who may benefit from therapy or counseling besides the chaplain?  Looking for either confidential options or ones sanctioned by the Commander/Competent Medical Authority that, in both cases, would not violate regulation or invoke a determination of medical unfitness or unsuitability for continued service.

MFLAC, call A&FRC for contact info.  They're confidential, don't keep records of any kind and most people I know who've used them (including myself) would recommend.

  6. Excellent point on the 26th amendment, I had not considered that.  I'm not sure how much a difference it would make.  Casualties in Vietnam were a lot worse.  Vietnam was on the news every night, and you didn't get 200 other channels to pick from.  I'd bet a week's paycheck that 50% of American's don't realize we're still in Afghanistan.  I think you could run the Afghan War like we're running it now with a draft.  I don't think you could run the Afghan War like we ran it in 09-12 with a draft.

Bet we wouldn't get into never-ending, unwinnable wars in middle-eastern shitholes if your average American had a little more skin in the game...

I've never understood this argument.  The draft didn't stop us from getting into Vietnam.

Reminds me of this new airframe from South Africa - the unfortunately named "Advanced High-Performance Reconnaissance Light Aircraft" (AHRLAC). And I think you only need a Light Sport certificate to fly it...

Does it come with a sweet Rebel Alliance flightsuit and helmet like the guy in the back is wearing?

  9. I think the popular vote argument would hold more water if the candidates had been trying to win that.  Campaigns to win the popular vote would look very different than campaigns to win the Electoral College vote.  The GOP just got handed the Presidency, both Houses of Congress, 33 Governorships, unified control of 32 State Legislatures and partial control of 5 more.  If that isn't a mandate, the word does not have meaning.

Interesting that you listed 2004 as a close election and not 2012, as the popular vote was nearly the same percentage-wise.  Unless you're saying we should only look at the electoral college vote, in which case 2016 wasn't a close election...

And the best way to fix Washington DC is for Washington DC to have/execercise less power.  Fortunately (or unfortunately), progressives are going to learn the hard way how it's not a good thing for the president to 'have a phone and a pen'...

2004 was much closer in the electoral college.  It was a while ago, but we didn't know the final result until the morning after the election since Ohio was too close to call on Election day.  Had Kerry eked out a win in Ohio, he'd have pulled off the Electoral College win while losing the popular vote.  There was a real possibility that we were going to get a 269-269 tie, which would have been decided by a state delegation vote in the House (which the Republicans would have won handily).  I imagine if Bush had won that way, after effectively winning at the SCOTUS the election prior, the left in this country would have imploded before drowning in their own tears.

  11. You could tweak it to awarding the electoral votes by congressional district, with the extra 2 electoral votes awarded to the popular vote winner of the state.  That would avoid the need to adjust the length of Senate terms.  I think the primary virtue of the electoral college is that it precludes us from ever having to conduct a nationwide recount in a close presidential election.

Is this possible?  Hadn't heard about an option to get promoted, decline promotion, and then separate.  If it exists, why would Duck even care about writing a DNP letter in order to intentionally be passed over and then separate?  Probably sounds better in future job interviews to say "I was promoted but declined in order to pursue other interests" than "I had to game an archaic, inflexible system to remove myself from promotion consideration so that I could pursue other interests".

I was twice passed over for promotion and separated earlier this month.  I interviewed for my dream job and got it.  They never asked why I didn't get promoted.  YMMV.

Also, there seems to be some confusion over how continuation works.  I thought posting an actual continuation offer might clear some of that up.  So, here's a picture of my continuation offer with my signature block scrubbed out from the bottom left:

  13. My understanding is that the difference is the F-16 dudes arrive on orders greater than six months, so that's a PCS.  The poor bastards tricked/dragooned into RPAs are on orders less than 6 months which is a TDY, so different rules.  The fact that RPA classes routinely graduate well past the six month mark means nothing since the orders say 4 months.  At least they get per diem.  You're right it was the previous WG/CCs policy, he's a douche also.  I've yet to meet an Active Duty RPA O-6 that I would piss on if he was on fire.  If they wanted money for the hotel, maybe they shouldn't have shoved the pipeline airmen into the dorms.
