  1. Hurlburt is now a sadder place, may God comfort the families of those we lost. A toast!
  2. Ah, Murtha's "greatest hits"... The world is now a better place with him gone. Sorry, its the Jack Daniels talking... Wait, no.
  3. That moniker was bestowed on the 319th by some nameless retard from another squadron. We do not EVER refer to ourselves that way and anyone who does will pay the price.
  4. I flew the next day, didn't think anything of it. The site was a little sore, but nothing I couldn't ignore.
  5. Once you get to Offutt to start FTU, you are considered PCS'd to Offutt, assigned to the 338th CTS.
  6. You can go fly the Twin Otter for the jump team there, I have a buddy in that squadron. Pretty sure you have to have a connection to get that job, though.
  7. Not a huge fan of NPR, but I thought this was a nice article about the venerable 135. It was a nice airplane to fly. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.p...toryId=95484569
  8. We just got on station when we got word of the incident, tried to provide a little support - not much we could do from an ISR perspective.
  9. Steve, Check out "Air POwer Against Terror" written by Benjamin Lambeth and published by RAND. He spends quite a bit of time explaining how that mess happened. Its a really interesting book. Once again, the Army can't play well with others, then try to blame the Air Force for their screw ups.
  10. Anyone got a link or anything? A true patriot.
  11. I didn't know that they had even been reinstated.... There were no team sorties when I went through Tones at Vance in '03. That sucks for you guys, those would have been pretty cool.
  12. I like Cooter and Scooter had a blast at Kadena. The golf course is really nice and a great deal after 2pm/3pm, depending on the time of year ($6 for as many holes as you can play). The base has some decent restaurants, the club is good on Friday nights, and CoCo's rocks! Don't forget Okuma when you need to get away from the base and of course the diving and snorkeling are excellent. Jake, definitely take the assignment to Kadena! [ 06. 13. Here's what I got... http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/11/30/jet.crash.ap/index.html
  14. They did a performance at the Nellis Air Show last weekend that was pretty sweet and they hadit as a static display. It was a pretty cool deal. It certainly put on a hell of a show.
  15. I had my standard UPT flying buffoonery, but the funniest story actually happened on the ground. Ran into a bunch of weather on my second Tweet ride and had to come back early. We landed in a torrential downpour and sat in the jet after we parked to see if the rain would let up. Finally it did, so I unstrapped myself and began to climb out as the rain began to pick up again. I put my foot in the little foothold there on the side and began to climb over the edge when my foot slipped. I tumbled out of the Tweet backwards, landing on my chute like a turtle on his shell. My IP and crew chief were laughing too hard to help me up, so I had to roll over to get up further soaking myself. Needless to say, walking into the squadron covered in parking pad grime and soaked was quite comical.
  16. Can someone tell me what the real justification was for making PT Gear mandatory at the Deed? Thank God I've avoided that place over the last year, but I'll be back soon. But when I was there, I had a run-in with some random E-7 who yelled at me about my sunglasses sitting on my head as I walked into the chow hall. I asked him if he had anything better to do and then went and got food. As I was walking away I heard him say, "I want his name and squadron!" So, I turned back to him and said "I just signed in, you can go figure it out." I went and enjoyed my breakfast and never heard anything after that.
  17. That doesn't surprise me a bit. I went into XNA during T-1's all the time and there was usually one or two jets there that took birds and were waiting to be inspected. My jet sat there on 2 occasions. I even ferried one home from there after I graduated. The FBO has really great staff and provides excellent BBQ though, I highly recommend it as a place to drop in.
  18. I suggest drinking heavily at your destination. That seemed to work for me when I made that trip in the spring. The rotator sucked a fat one by the way. It was nice getting the free drinks on the way home from United.
